01:17can cause shearing of the internal lining, tissues, and blood vessels that may cause
01:21internal bleeding, bruising, or swelling of the brain.
01:24Fortunately, less than a day after Pax Jolie-Pitt's accident occurred, Us Weekly reported that
01:28he was in stable condition.
01:30While the severity of his head injury is unclear, one other distressing detail has emerged.
01:35This accident is apparently not the first time Pax has crashed his electric bike, and
01:39multiple photos show him riding his e-bike without a helmet on several occasions.
01:43One source told Page Six,
01:44"'His friends are concerned about him.
01:46He's being reckless.
01:47They're worried.'"
01:48Sadly, Pax isn't alone in his lack of safety equipment.
01:52According to the Federal Highway Administration, only 18 percent of cyclists wear helmets.
01:56However, wearing headgear is an expedient way for riders to safeguard themselves.
02:00The FHWA asserts that bicycle helmets are 85 to 88 percent effective in preventing head
02:06and brain injuries.
02:07Despite the clear-cut efficacy of wearing a helmet, California laws don't require their
02:11universal use.
02:12Since Pax is over 18, he's only required to don a helmet on a Class 3 e-bike, while Class
02:181 and 2 e-bikes can go a maximum of 20 miles per hour, Class 3 e-bikes can go 28 miles
02:23per hour.
02:24In addition, if owners modify an e-bike's speed-constraining components, they could
02:28possibly go faster than 55 miles per hour.
02:31The Daily Mail reported that Pax has a Talaria Sting RMX4 electric bike, which has speeds
02:35of 20 miles per hour and is advertised for off-road use.
02:39However, there has not been any official confirmation if that was the same e-bike that Pax was driving
02:44in the accident.
02:45When his electronic bike accident occurred, Pax Jolie Pitt was said to be near Angelina
02:49Jolie's home.
02:50Jolie was with her son while he was treated for his injuries at a hospital.
02:54Pax reportedly has a close relationship with his mom.
02:56In contrast, Pax appears to have a complicated relationship with his dad, Brad Pitt, making
03:01it less likely that Pitt will be at the hospital while Pax recovers.

03:19Right before the divorce proceedings began, there were reports of a violent fight between
