00:00:00How about Loose on the Loose?
00:00:02Sam, this is a police vlog, not Green Angels and Ham.
00:00:06I know.
00:00:08Um, okay, how about Moose saunters down Main Street
00:00:12causing no traffic jams because there's no cars on the road?
00:00:16I don't know. This is kind of a dump.
00:00:19I just need to finish my op-ed so I can get a real writing job.
00:00:22At least you're getting paid for this one, right?
00:00:25Kind of. I mean, she's paying me in banana bread.
00:00:28Sam, you promised you'd get paid for the article this time.
00:00:32I know, but at least it's a job.
00:00:34I'm not sure it's a job if you're not getting paid.
00:00:37What am I going to do with you?
00:00:40Well, at least my notary gig pays the bills for now.
00:00:44Ooh, hot guy alert.
00:00:48I don't think I heard you correctly.
00:00:50There aren't any hot guys here.
00:00:52Well, that Moose had a nice caboose.
00:00:55You just ride with me, smoosh.
00:00:57Coming around the corner.
00:01:00Have fun, Dr. Seuss.
00:01:03You just ride with me again, baba gadoosh.
00:01:06Is this going to be all morning?
00:01:09Maybe, because I like freshly squeezed orange juice.
00:01:13Ah.
00:01:15Anywhere you go, I'll follow you.
00:01:19Home sweet tiny home.
00:01:22All right, posters, here we come.
00:01:33Fire in the hole!
00:01:36All right!
00:01:42Brunch is served.
00:01:45Ooh, everything looks good.
00:01:49Ooh, I want some coffee cake.
00:01:52Peterson Maple can single-handedly destroy Vermont's maple syrup industry
00:01:56with their fancy technology.
00:01:58They're like a big bully on the playground.
00:02:00You know, I heard Peterson spent a quarter of a million on one evaporator.
00:02:05We should bring our baseball bats and smash it as it comes out of the truck.
00:02:09Peaceful protest, dear. We're not stooping to their level.
00:02:12You know, Sam's going to start off her op-ed piece at the protest.
00:02:16I am so proud of you for taking this on, Sam.
00:02:19It's kind of a big undertaking for me, but I'm really excited.
00:02:23Susie, writing an article is an example of peaceful protest.
00:02:27I am still packing my bat.
00:02:29That's my girl.
00:02:31If Peterson thinks that they can just march in here and start mass-producing,
00:02:34they have clearly never met Vermonters.
00:02:36True that. Definitely not.
00:02:38Oh, speaking of which, we stopped by the family farm.
00:02:41Oh, yeah, pass me the sweet stuff.
00:02:43Who wants some sweet stuff?
00:02:45Look who it is, everybody! It's Gonzales!
00:02:49Buzzer!
00:02:51Go back to Connecticut!
00:02:54Save our farm!
00:02:57We don't want your stuff!
00:02:59Save our farm! Save our farm!
00:03:03Save our farm! Save our farm!
00:03:06Come on, I just want attention. I just want attention.
00:03:09You see that giant grey factory?
00:03:11That should be on your label! Not a sugar shower!
00:03:14Yeah!
00:03:16Save our farm!
00:03:22Hey, folks.
00:03:24Hello, Rita.
00:03:26I hate to tell you, but you've got to move it on home.
00:03:28Mrs. Johnson, this is important.
00:03:31Clarence, you had better be playing for the home team.
00:03:34I am, Rita, but the law is the law.
00:03:37Come on, folks, you know you're all trespassing.
00:03:39Don't make me get out my ticket book.
00:03:41Come on.
00:03:43Okay, everybody, you heard the constable.
00:03:45Everybody to the bar.
00:03:47First round's on Clarence.
00:03:49All right. Hey, Alice. Carrie.
00:03:51Tell your mother thanks for the muffins.
00:03:53Wendelin, how are you?
00:03:55Oh, Sam, help!
00:03:59Oh, hurry, Sam, I have to pee.
00:04:01I'm trying.
00:04:03My bracelet's caught.
00:04:05Sam, that's tighter.
00:04:07Oh, but we're not.
00:04:15So the only reason that the GMO law passed
00:04:18is because I led the rally.
00:04:20And I didn't give you a ticket for that one either.
00:04:22I have a First Amendment right.
00:04:24But you can't do it on other people's property.
00:04:26I heard he's had a crush on her since high school.
00:04:29And the one time he gave her a ticket,
00:04:31he ended up paying for it himself.
00:04:34Oh, you're so good to me.
00:04:36Yeah.
00:04:38Don't press your luck.
00:04:42Hey, can I get a good neighbor
00:04:44and, uh, for these two ladies as well?
00:04:46Oh, that's all right. We're fine.
00:04:48Um, thank you so much. That's really sweet.
00:04:50I'm Jessamy. Landon.
00:04:52Uh, I'm Sam.
00:04:54Apparently I won't be saying no to a free drink.
00:04:56So what's this all about?
00:04:58There has to be a good story here.
00:05:00Oh, yeah, we were actually just protesting
00:05:02against a global corporation that's trying to take over
00:05:04the Vermont maple industry.
00:05:06Horrible, huh?
00:05:08Pure evil.
00:05:10That's pretty harsh, no?
00:05:12No. We actually know what we're talking about.
00:05:14I'm actually writing an article about it right now,
00:05:16so I've been doing a lot of research.
00:05:18I heard they were creating demand for maple internationally,
00:05:20which will drive demand for Vermont maple.
00:05:22But they're taking over family farms
00:05:24with a cold steel factory.
00:05:26Factories are more energy efficient.
00:05:28Okay, um,
00:05:30Sam tells me you're not from around here.
00:05:32I did just move up here from Connecticut.
00:05:34You work for Peterson Maple?
00:05:36As a matter of fact, I do.
00:05:38As a matter of fact,
00:05:40I don't need to take this beer from you.
00:05:42Listen, if you want his insider interview for your article,
00:05:44I live on my boat on Lake Champlain.
00:05:46I'd love to speak with you ladies first.
00:05:48Of course you live on Lake Champlain
00:05:50and have a boat,
00:05:52like all other rich out-of-staters.
00:05:54Would you like my card?
00:05:56You like my card?
00:06:00Um, thanks.
00:06:02How about tomorrow for the interview?
00:06:04Um, I think that sounds great.
00:06:06Yeah.
00:06:08You know what? I think it's time to go, so...
00:06:10Sam, stop it.
00:06:12Come on, shackle buddy.
00:06:14Oh, um, thanks for the beer.
00:06:16Yeah.
00:06:18Nice to meet you.
00:06:20Stop it.
00:06:22Do you know this dude?
00:06:24No.
00:06:26I don't know you.
00:06:28Okay.
00:06:30I'm coming.
00:06:32Ah!
00:06:34You stay next to me.
00:06:38Ratty, help!
00:06:40Ratty!
00:06:42I can't believe you want me to interview that guy.
00:06:44Come on, Sam. It's just an interview.
00:06:46You're a reporter. It's your job to be objective.
00:06:48And this is the perfect opportunity
00:06:50to get the opposing perspective.
00:06:52There you be.
00:06:54Thank you, Ratty.
00:06:56All right, now we need a fix.
00:06:58You better be paying in cash.
00:07:00The regular?
00:07:02Always.
00:07:04Coming up.
00:07:06I really like that name.
00:07:08Landon.
00:07:10Please. You with the flatlander.
00:07:12I can't.
00:07:14Oh, flatlander.
00:07:16Whatever. At least he's a flatlander and not from New Hampshire.
00:07:18Agreed.
00:07:20Oh, I got it.
00:07:22Don't let her pay.
00:07:24My bills are bigger.
00:07:26Did she just pay?
00:07:28They're dripping.
00:07:30Yum.
00:07:32The best.
00:07:34The best cream is of all time.
00:07:36Do you remember when we were kids
00:07:38and it used to snow six feet by Christmas?
00:07:40Yes.
00:07:42We used to jump off the roof into giant piles of snow
00:07:44wearing purple snowsuits
00:07:46and knitted mittens, I think.
00:07:48It's winter like those.
00:07:50These warm spells are killing us.
00:07:52No, 50 gallons less than last year is rough.
00:07:54Yeah, Dad and I have enough to worry about
00:07:56without Peterson Maple moving in on our industry.
00:07:58Tell me about it.
00:08:00They are the worst.
00:08:02How's your op-ed coming?
00:08:04It's pretty challenging.
00:08:06You're Vermont's Erin Brockovich,
00:08:08the voice of the people.
00:08:10So, have you decided which magazine
00:08:12you're going to submit to yet?
00:08:14I mean, the dream is Vermont Times.
00:08:16Honestly, I'm a little nervous
00:08:18to be taking on such a huge topic
00:08:20for my first op-ed,
00:08:22but I really want to do something that matters, you know?
00:08:24Maybe it'll even lead to a real writing job.
00:08:26I would love to stop freelancing,
00:08:28stop that stupid notary gig,
00:08:30have an office with a desk,
00:08:32be a real person,
00:08:34a real writer, a real writer.
00:08:36A real writer.
00:08:44Ah, there's my girls.
00:08:46Oh, Dad, don't get up.
00:08:48Hi, Mr. Burr.
00:08:50Okay, farm stand's all set,
00:08:52and I'll be back tomorrow to do the receipts,
00:08:54and I'll get you some groceries on the way.
00:08:56Sneak some peace pops into the bag.
00:08:58Only if I can have one.
00:09:00Deal.
00:09:02You know I can hear you, right?
00:09:04I'll see you later.
00:09:06Bye, Mr. Burr.
00:09:08No peace pops in between.
00:09:10Oh, come on.
00:09:20Mmm, tea's cold.
00:09:22Time for bed.
00:09:24Mine is empty, and I just finished my paragraph.
00:09:26Thanks, love.
00:09:28Perfect timing.
00:09:30Love you. Good night.
00:09:32Love you. Night.
00:09:34Don't forget we're interviewing Landon tomorrow.
00:09:46What can I get you, ladies?
00:09:48You seem like cappuccino girls.
00:09:50Oh, sure.
00:09:52You know what? We're actually good. Thank you.
00:09:54Okay.
00:09:56Sam, don't be rude. Free drinks.
00:09:58Nothing's free.
00:10:00Oh, yeah. Rusty's the best at creating...
00:10:02Okay, so just jumping right into the interview,
00:10:04here's our first question.
00:10:06Why are you on a mission to destroy
00:10:08the Vermont maple industry?
00:10:10You get right in there, don't you?
00:10:12Thanks for starting with an easy one.
00:10:14Oh. All right.
00:10:16I don't see us as destroying the maple industry at all.
00:10:18I see us enhancing it.
00:10:20How do you figure that?
00:10:22Well, maple is not a flavor all over the world.
00:10:24The way Vermonters manufacture maple
00:10:26is traditional, but it's expensive.
00:10:28If we want to give maple a global presence,
00:10:30then we have to use new technologies
00:10:32to keep costs down.
00:10:34We plan to create an unprecedented demand
00:10:36for syrup. Then the family farms
00:10:38will have more sales than they know what to do with.
00:10:40But how are people going to know the difference?
00:10:42You're falsely advertising that your syrup
00:10:44is made the Vermont way.
00:10:46If you want to do something like that,
00:10:48then we need to come up with some sort of labeling system
00:10:50that allows people to see if their syrup
00:10:52was made by a farmer or a factory.
00:10:54It's a valid point, and I'm sure something
00:10:56will be considered.
00:10:58Really? Yes. We want to work with
00:11:00Vermont, not against.
00:11:02You guys are feisty.
00:11:04I have to go
00:11:06notarize a cattle sale.
00:11:08So, um, interview's over.
00:11:10Oh, I can do the interview.
00:11:12No, that's okay. It's over. We really got...
00:11:14No, I got it. It's fine.
00:11:16Bye, Sam.
00:11:22So,
00:11:24you say you want to work with Vermont,
00:11:26not against us. So does that mean you're not going to be
00:11:28buying family farms? Because I have a sugar farm
00:11:30that's been in my family for four generations,
00:11:32and I want to make sure it's protected.
00:11:34The intention of Peters & Maple
00:11:36is not to buy a family farm. So, yes,
00:11:38I promise your farm will be safe.
00:11:40Now, my turn to ask a question.
00:11:42Do you like sailing?
00:11:54I'm lucky to
00:11:56be here with you.
00:11:58Flowers
00:12:00start to bloom
00:12:02every day.
00:12:04From violet to pink
00:12:06and blue.
00:12:08This feels
00:12:10bright, feels so
00:12:12bright,
00:12:14bright
00:12:16with you by my side.
00:12:20Life is rosy,
00:12:22rosy, beautiful.
00:12:24Yeah, it's so wonderful.
00:12:26Oh, darling,
00:12:28don't you know
00:12:30that life is rosy?
00:12:34Honey, I'm home.
00:12:36Yeah.
00:12:38Best interview
00:12:40ever. Longest interview
00:12:42ever. I texted you, like,
00:12:44a million times. Oh, sorry.
00:12:46It's body service.
00:12:48It smells like soup in here.
00:12:50Oh, yeah. It was delicious.
00:12:52Um, so,
00:12:54you spent the
00:12:56whole day with him. He's
00:12:58really great, Sam. And I told him more about
00:13:00your labeling idea, and he was really open to it.
00:13:02Please. I mean, I kind
00:13:04of dealt that. I don't know. I don't
00:13:06really trust his flashy watch
00:13:08or really anyone who pays with a hundred dollar bill.
00:13:10I mean,
00:13:12I don't even know why you like this guy.
00:13:14I mean, he doesn't even seem
00:13:16like your type. I don't know.
00:13:18There's just something about him.
00:13:20Don't be so judgmental, Sam. We should welcome
00:13:22him into the community like good Vermonter.
00:13:24Okay, little miss welcome mat.
00:13:26I'm just a little careful about what kind of
00:13:28foxes I invite into the hen house.
00:13:30Okay, I will be careful.
00:13:32But I think this could be a great opportunity
00:13:34for him to work with us and, you know,
00:13:36his company, and maybe everybody could be happy.
00:13:38He's not a Vermonter.
00:13:40Period.
00:13:42I'm really tired. I'm gonna go to bed.
00:13:45Love you.
00:13:47Okay, that's fine. Yeah, me too.
00:13:49Love you.
00:13:51Good night.
00:13:56You know, I had so much fun
00:13:58sailing with you the other day.
00:14:00You are a natural. I had a great time too.
00:14:02But for a second date, I thought I'd
00:14:04bring us out to dry land.
00:14:06So, what looks good?
00:14:08Should we start with oysters?
00:14:10Ooh, I love oysters.
00:14:12I never get to have them because Sam hates them
00:14:14and we usually share everything.
00:14:16Right. Great. Well, since Sam isn't here,
00:14:18oysters it is.
00:14:20You know, Sam actually had a good question.
00:14:22Why are you making Vermont maple syrup?
00:14:24No, I think
00:14:26Peterson Maple offered me
00:14:28a leadership opportunity that I couldn't pass up.
00:14:30Right? I was really
00:14:32excited about helping to build a business
00:14:34from the ground up. It's the whole reason
00:14:36I went to business school.
00:14:38You take a concept and you bring it out to the world
00:14:40and it's challenging and it's invigorating.
00:14:42Oh, I'm boring you.
00:14:44No, not at all.
00:14:46I think it's great that you're
00:14:48so passionate about what you do.
00:14:50I mean, you move to a place
00:14:52where you don't even know anybody.
00:14:54I've hardly ever even been out of Vermont.
00:14:56Well, I think it's very brave
00:14:58that you went on a second date
00:15:00with a flatlander.
00:15:02Right? I'm catching on.
00:15:04Okay, so now I get to ask a question.
00:15:06What's the deal with you and Sam?
00:15:08Because you have already mentioned her
00:15:10four times this evening. I mean, it seems like
00:15:12you guys are kind of close.
00:15:14Well, yeah. I mean,
00:15:16she's practically like a sister to me.
00:15:18We've been inseparable since we were little.
00:15:20And she's always looked out
00:15:22for me. You know, been my protector.
00:15:24She's like the yin to my yang.
00:15:26Hmm. So,
00:15:28if I wanted to do something
00:15:30spontaneous, would you
00:15:32have to ask Sam first?
00:15:34It depends on what it is.
00:15:38Okay.
00:15:44No, I don't think we need
00:15:46to ask permission for that.
00:15:50So I'll call you up
00:15:52whenever I'm
00:15:54feeling down
00:15:56cause it feels
00:15:58so good
00:16:00just to have you around
00:16:04Now yesterday
00:16:06today is all
00:16:08but a distant dream
00:16:12Tomorrow hasn't happened yet
00:16:14so let's just wait and see
00:16:20All taped up for you.
00:16:22Banana bread?
00:16:24This is utterly ridiculous.
00:16:28You're utterly dorky.
00:16:32Thanks, Rusty.
00:16:34Take care.
00:17:04So tell me,
00:17:06who do you look more like, your mom
00:17:08or your dad?
00:17:10Well, I don't really remember what my mom
00:17:12looks like except from pictures.
00:17:14She died in an accident
00:17:16when I was little.
00:17:18Oh, I'm so sorry. It's okay.
00:17:20Luckily, my
00:17:22amazing dad raised me.
00:17:24The accident's why he
00:17:26doesn't walk that well.
00:17:28He still likes to pretend
00:17:30he can do everything just fine.
00:17:32You know, it's tough for
00:17:34an ex-naval officer to not
00:17:36be able to run his own ship.
00:17:38My dad says
00:17:40I look exactly like my mom
00:17:42and I have her voice.
00:17:44Do you still have memories of her?
00:17:48She used to sing all the time
00:17:50and we used to sing together.
00:17:52That's her guitar.
00:17:54Then you have to play something
00:17:56for me. No. Yes.
00:17:58No. Yes. No.
00:18:02It's the weekend.
00:18:04Come on. You have no excuse.
00:18:08Okay, fine, but you have to turn around.
00:18:10You can't look at me. Are you serious?
00:18:12I'm serious. You're not serious.
00:18:14I'm serious.
00:18:28I was drifting
00:18:30quietly away
00:18:34No rocks
00:18:36or waterfalls
00:18:38were in my way
00:18:42The road was laid out
00:18:44safe and straight ahead
00:18:48Lights are green now
00:18:50Don't want
00:18:52them turning red
00:18:54Please
00:19:00just be careful
00:19:04with me
00:19:08Try
00:19:14not to move
00:19:18too quickly
00:19:22Handle me
00:19:26with care
00:19:28Cause I've
00:19:30been broken
00:19:32before
00:19:36And I'm
00:19:38scared
00:19:40Wow.
00:19:42That was incredible.
00:19:44Thanks.
00:19:46I'm serious. That was really good.
00:19:48You should play for other people.
00:19:50Have you ever thought about pursuing it?
00:19:52No. I could never do that.
00:19:54You know, I have to run the farm
00:19:56Yeah, well
00:19:58I'm, um
00:20:00I'm really happy you let me hear it
00:20:02because it just
00:20:04it makes me love you even more.
00:20:10Did you just say you love me?
00:20:12I think I did.
00:20:14Cause I love you too.
00:20:26Music
00:20:48I'm engaged!
00:20:50I'm engaged!
00:20:52What?
00:20:54Landon! Sam, come on!
00:20:56I have coffees and bridal magazines. Get up!
00:20:58Hold on. I just found, like, the best
00:21:00one. I gotta show you.
00:21:02This is so pretty.
00:21:04Sam, they're just, like, all so pretty.
00:21:08So, you and Landon are serious?
00:21:10Yeah. Sam
00:21:12he proposed to me on his boat last night
00:21:14with, like, the worst
00:21:16slash cutest poem of all time.
00:21:18Oh my god. You have to watch this video. It's so cute.
00:21:20Hold on. Ready?
00:21:22Okay, watch. Ready?
00:21:24J is for Jubilee, which you always are.
00:21:26E is for everything, which you
00:21:28are to me. SS
00:21:30is for shooting star, because you're my
00:21:32shooting star.
00:21:34Okay, wait. Ready?
00:21:36I got a ring!
00:21:38What?
00:21:40What? You don't like the ring?
00:21:42Uh,
00:21:44well, it's so fancy!
00:21:46Wow!
00:21:48I just, I'm not
00:21:50totally sure that that's you.
00:21:52I mean, really?
00:21:54This guy?
00:21:56He's the one, Sam.
00:21:58You've only known him for
00:22:00two months, okay? As your best friend
00:22:02I just have to make sure that
00:22:04you're not rushing into something
00:22:06you're maybe not ready for.
00:22:08I'm not. It feels right.
00:22:14I heard screaming and I came as fast as I could.
00:22:16Ah!
00:22:18Congratulations!
00:22:20I was wondering when you two
00:22:22would make it official.
00:22:24Oh, no, no, no, no.
00:22:26Rita, my boyfriend Landon proposed
00:22:28last night.
00:22:30Who wants muffins?
00:22:32Hey!
00:22:36So, did you hear the news?
00:22:38Come here, future sister-in-law.
00:22:40Oh, I'm sorry.
00:22:42I didn't know you had somebody here.
00:22:44I'm Landon. I know who you are.
00:22:46Landon, this is Rita,
00:22:48the best landlady in the state of Vermont.
00:22:50Well, it's very nice to meet you.
00:22:52I will share my muffin with you.
00:22:54I have something for you. Wait here.
00:22:56You're my favorite muffin.
00:23:00Oh, I got coffees for everyone.
00:23:02Oh, good.
00:23:04Sam, green tea for you.
00:23:06And cappuccino
00:23:08for me and Landon.
00:23:10Jesse, you always drink tea.
00:23:12Oh, well, Landon has this really amazing
00:23:14cappuccino maker, so I've been getting really into it.
00:23:16Really?
00:23:18Well, sounds good.
00:23:20I'll try a cap, then.
00:23:22Oh, here, I'll share mine.
00:23:28I have a pair of flannel pajamas.
00:23:30Cool.
00:23:32Here you go,
00:23:34honey bunny. Thank you.
00:23:36Ooh, cappuccino
00:23:38cheers. Cappuccino cheers.
00:23:40Okay, so I really
00:23:42want you guys to get to know each other better.
00:23:44So, we want to take you on our boat
00:23:46tonight to celebrate.
00:23:48Sentences.
00:23:52Yeah, sure, boat ride
00:23:54sounds great.
00:23:56Here.
00:23:58And these flyers
00:24:00out to your friends.
00:24:02Jess, I just
00:24:04have to say something right now.
00:24:06I need your help in the garden.
00:24:08Okay, but I...
00:24:10See you later.
00:24:16Jess
00:24:18is completely whack.
00:24:20Good. Feel your feelings.
00:24:22I can't believe she literally just got engaged to someone
00:24:24she's known for two seconds.
00:24:26I'm watching her change who she is
00:24:28for this guy, you know?
00:24:30And you're supposed to be yourself with the person
00:24:32you love. They're supposed to love you for you,
00:24:34right?
00:24:36And why the sudden rush to get married?
00:24:38I mean, we're just still trying to figure out what we want to do
00:24:40with our lives. Oh, so you don't
00:24:42want to be a notary forever. It's not very
00:24:44funny. Hon, I don't
00:24:46disagree with you about this guy, but
00:24:48you'll have to let her figure it out for herself.
00:24:50Maybe it's because we both have big
00:24:52birthdays this year. People tend
00:24:54to make very rash decisions around
00:24:56this age. That's right, you're turning
00:24:58Don't say it.
00:25:00But people totally freak out, right?
00:25:02On the eve of our third
00:25:04decade, my girlfriends and I made a deal that
00:25:06we were each going to buy convertibles.
00:25:10Damn front-wheel drive didn't make it
00:25:12up the driveway all winter. Hold on, Rita.
00:25:14Jess and I made a silly pact
00:25:16once about getting married at the same time.
00:25:22We were 12 years old and at the
00:25:24annual Sugar on Snow party.
00:25:26There was this really
00:25:28mean boy there that Jess really liked,
00:25:30but he was talking to this other girl
00:25:32and Jess got totally emotional.
00:25:34You know how she is. Jess, this is not right.
00:25:36Anyway, I was trying to make her feel better
00:25:38and I came up with this crazy idea.
00:25:40I'll never get married unless you get married.
00:25:42Let's make a pact.
00:25:46Gross, Sam.
00:25:48You're such a hippie.
00:25:50Both of our husbands are going to wear
00:25:52car pants, chop wood, and at
00:25:54least listen to Brad Paisley.
00:25:56You're my best friend. You're my best friend.
00:25:58Oh, let's make
00:26:00an official.
00:26:02I'll sign here.
00:26:06And you sign here.
00:26:08Okay.
00:26:10We signed the pact and I still have it.
00:26:12It's hanging on the bulletin board in the tiny house.
00:26:14Boom, sauce.
00:26:16Always and forever.
00:26:20All I have to do is remind her of this pact
00:26:22and then that will stall her
00:26:24until she wakes up from
00:26:26whatever love daze she's in.
00:26:28Darling, why don't you focus your energies
00:26:30on helping people who want to be helped?
00:26:34Come down to the community center.
00:26:36We always need volunteers for the baked bean suppers
00:26:38and we clearly have free time.
00:26:40Sure, I will totally do that.
00:26:42Whatever, I just really need to go talk this
00:26:44pact with Jess.
00:26:48I know what you're thinking.
00:26:50There's no rush setting any dates.
00:26:52You have plenty of time to get to know Landon better because
00:26:54you can't get married unless I get married.
00:26:56Remember?
00:26:58And I think...
00:27:00Go.
00:27:02Really?
00:27:06Well, then let's fix that.
00:27:08Oh.
00:27:10Yeah, I love playing matchmaker and there's all these
00:27:12great dating apps now. I can help you set a profile.
00:27:14Yes, definitely. No problem.
00:27:16Great, I'll see if Landon can
00:27:18set you up with someone for tonight.
00:27:20Great, I'll go put together an outfit.
00:27:22Perfect. We can start planning our weddings together.
00:27:24I'm so glad you reminded me about the pact.
00:27:32So this is the outfit you put together?
00:27:34What? I like it.
00:27:36Oh my god.
00:27:38It's B.O. Brad.
00:27:40I can't believe you survived that
00:27:42eighth grade dance with him. He was so stinky.
00:27:44Don't remind me, Jess.
00:27:48Quiet.
00:27:50I was just trying to be nice.
00:27:52I mean, no one else was asking me.
00:27:58Oh, here's Landon's boat.
00:28:02Is there docks a lot?
00:28:04Come on, that's clever.
00:28:06If it was anyone other than Landon, you would think that was funny.
00:28:10You made it.
00:28:12Welcome aboard.
00:28:14Baby. You look nice.
00:28:16Thank you.
00:28:18I missed you. I missed you too.
00:28:22Oh, okay.
00:28:26Go down below. I've got some hors d'oeuvres.
00:28:28The champagne's on ice.
00:28:30Sounds good.
00:28:32Welcome to my humble abode.
00:28:34Here's a little caviar to try.
00:28:36No thanks.
00:28:38Jess and I are more like fish food girls.
00:28:40Know what I mean?
00:28:42Oh my god.
00:28:44Ahoy, mateys.
00:28:46Howdy, neighbor.
00:28:48Brad and I are thinking of teaming up for the regatta next spring.
00:28:50Hi, Brad. This is...
00:28:52Jesper and Sam Templeton.
00:28:54Hi, Brad. Brad, how are you?
00:28:56I should have known. Everyone knows everyone in Vermont.
00:28:58So what have you been up to?
00:29:00I'm teaching fourth grade.
00:29:02That's amazing.
00:29:04Wicked.
00:29:06What have you ladies been doing?
00:29:08Just taking care of the farm.
00:29:10And writing songs. Jess is a very talented musician.
00:29:12Oh, no way.
00:29:14Wanda, the after-school music supervisor, just went into early labor
00:29:16and we're scrambling to find a replacement.
00:29:18That be something you'd be interested in?
00:29:20Oh, wow.
00:29:22Thank you so much.
00:29:24I'm just really busy at the farm.
00:29:26That's too bad.
00:29:28Well, if you think of anyone, let me know.
00:29:30Well, if you need a writer, Sam is incredible.
00:29:32She's actually working on her first big op-ed piece right now.
00:29:34Sam, that's wicked.
00:29:36Yeah, totally wicked.
00:29:38Brad, grab some champagne and caviar.
00:29:40Ah, no thanks, man.
00:29:42I'm not big on fish eggs.
00:29:44More into fish food, if you know what I mean.
00:29:46That's so funny.
00:29:48Sam just made the same joke.
00:29:50Uh, dude, you got any brewskis?
00:29:52Yeah, yeah, help yourself in the fridge.
00:29:54Thanks, man.
00:29:56You know what? It's actually feeling really cramped in here
00:29:58and I'm not feeling well. I'm just... I'm gonna grab some air.
00:30:00Oh, okay.
00:30:02Who loves Pictionary?
00:30:04I like Pictionary.
00:30:06You guys start. I'll be right back.
00:30:16Hey.
00:30:18You feeling sick?
00:30:20What?
00:30:22I mean, people grow up.
00:30:24And he's really nice.
00:30:26You know, just because someone's nice
00:30:28doesn't mean you marry them.
00:30:30Okay, forget about Brad.
00:30:32Look, Sam,
00:30:34I think we should just rethink
00:30:36this whole pact thing.
00:30:38I mean, Landon thinks it's a little ridiculous.
00:30:40Landon thinks it's ridiculous?
00:30:42Really?
00:30:44Ridiculous like, I don't know,
00:30:46getting engaged after two months?
00:30:48Look,
00:30:50it doesn't matter if Landon
00:30:52doesn't get our pact, okay?
00:30:54We do.
00:30:56We agreed, Jess, to never break promises
00:30:58to each other.
00:31:00I know, but don't you think it's kind of one of those things
00:31:02you just say but you don't really mean?
00:31:04Like, I don't know, we're always saying
00:31:06we're gonna volunteer.
00:31:08Yeah, and I am volunteering
00:31:10with Rita at the community center tomorrow.
00:31:12Yep, upholding my promise.
00:31:16Wow, Sam, that's amazing.
00:31:18I'm really proud of you for doing that.
00:31:20You know, a promise is a promise.
00:31:22Yeah.
00:31:24Okay, you're right.
00:31:26All right, so maybe
00:31:28this date didn't go so well,
00:31:30but I bet you the next one is gonna be perfect.
00:31:32Great.
00:31:34The next guy just can't be anyone
00:31:36from middle school, okay?
00:31:38Deal.
00:31:40Deal.
00:31:42All right, now let's go finish celebrating.
00:31:44I'll slip a Dramamine in your champagne.
00:31:46Come on.
00:31:48Let's go.
00:31:58So I think you are going to have a great day here, Sam.
00:32:00There's wonderful people who volunteer.
00:32:02Sam, come on.
00:32:04It's gonna be great.
00:32:06These are our volunteers.
00:32:08Hey, everybody.
00:32:10And we serve 65 guests,
00:32:12so you'll be very busy.
00:32:14Here's your apron, there's your glove.
00:32:16We will get you a tracy care net.
00:32:18Have fun, darling.
00:32:20It'll be great.
00:32:38Never, uh,
00:32:40wore a trash bag before, huh?
00:32:42Can't say that I have.
00:32:44Can I help you out with that?
00:32:46No.
00:32:48I am an expert.
00:32:50Teamwork. Team.
00:32:52I think I can handle my own trash bag.
00:32:54Nope. Up through the top.
00:32:56Okay.
00:32:58And... there we go.
00:33:00Okay, I got it.
00:33:02Here.
00:33:04Thanks.
00:33:06Hey.
00:33:08I'm Colin.
00:33:10I'm, uh, Samantha. Sam.
00:33:12Ah.
00:33:14Sam, eat bread.
00:33:16Bread, meat basket.
00:33:18Got it.
00:33:20Cool.
00:33:22So, DUI or break-up?
00:33:24Huh?
00:33:26Now, uh, people usually
00:33:28only volunteer here if they're required by law
00:33:30or they are escaping something.
00:33:32Um, I guess
00:33:34it's kind of a break-up,
00:33:36but I don't really want to talk about it.
00:33:38Oh, yeah, no.
00:33:40I totally get it.
00:33:42I mean, she's totally being impossible.
00:33:44Oh, she?
00:33:46I'm the only one who's ever protected her.
00:33:48You know, ever since her mom died,
00:33:50I'm the one looking out for her,
00:33:52and now, you know, we're basically
00:33:54not even in each other's lives at all,
00:33:56and when we are in each other's lives,
00:33:58Landon is there, just lurking in the shadows,
00:34:00making everything unfun.
00:34:02Since we were, like, five?
00:34:06Wow.
00:34:10We're best friends.
00:34:12Oh, yeah.
00:34:14Got it.
00:34:16Sam, you're a natural when it comes to bread.
00:34:18Oh, thank you.
00:34:20Therefore, you are on bread detail.
00:34:22Oh.
00:34:24This is your weapon.
00:34:26There are many like it,
00:34:28but this one is yours.
00:34:30I did.
00:34:34Honey, I'm home.
00:34:36Day one
00:34:38of my commitment.
00:34:40Oh.
00:34:42Green looks good on you.
00:34:44Right?
00:34:46Look what I brought.
00:34:48I'm just a girl
00:34:50standing in front of a boy,
00:34:52asking him to love her.
00:34:54I was just going to shower off this bean juice,
00:34:56and then we can totally walk.
00:35:00Hey, Sam.
00:35:02Oh. Landon's here.
00:35:04Hey. I thought we were going to watch Rambo.
00:35:06I mean, I still can't believe you haven't seen it.
00:35:08I think it's a classic, and that Ceylon
00:35:10should have won the Oscar.
00:35:12I actually was hoping for some
00:35:14girl time tonight. You know, you really
00:35:16wanted to set up that dating profile for me,
00:35:18and I think we can all agree that Julia
00:35:20would be a much better inspiration.
00:35:22Okay, but... We can watch both.
00:35:24It'll be a double feature.
00:35:26We'll work on Sam's profiles, it'll be good to have
00:35:28Sam's opinion, and then...
00:35:30Sam can make her famous cheddar shake popcorn.
00:35:32I don't know if I want to do it here
00:35:34while I'm trying to do something.
00:35:36Okay.
00:35:38I really want us all to hang out together.

00:36:02Can you just move?
00:36:04You know this is my favorite pillow.
00:36:06I'm sorry, but I just don't need
00:36:08a million people in my way.
00:36:10It's very sweaty over here.
00:36:12I don't like it.
00:36:14Oh my God! Honey, are you okay?
00:36:16Oh my God.
00:36:18Eyes closed. Eyes closed.
00:36:20Okay, open.
00:36:22Hey, what's the surprise?
00:36:24Why are we at my old school,
00:36:26and why are you carrying my guitar case?
00:36:28Don't kill me, but I told Brad
00:36:30that you could teach a music class.
00:36:32No, Landon. I can't do that.
00:36:34Yes, you can do it. It's only temporary,
00:36:36and you're going to be great.
00:36:38Now, you'd better hurry inside
00:36:40because the classroom full of kids
00:36:42needs supervision.
00:36:44Up, up, up, up, up.
00:36:48I love you. You're going to do great.

00:37:12to play in front of people,
00:37:14but you're not really playing
00:37:16in front of me.
00:37:18I'm kind of terrified

00:38:16Okay.
00:38:28Good, and that completes the sale.
00:38:30It's a pleasure doing business with you.
00:38:32Wonderful.
00:38:34I'll show you both out.
00:38:46I knew it.
00:39:16Hello?
00:39:47How can you be so blind to this?
00:39:49Landon said that's not what they're doing,
00:39:51and I believe him.
00:39:53But I saw his boss at the bank
00:39:55with a farmer and a bill of sale.
00:39:57Well, there must be some other explanation.
00:39:59I can't believe you.
00:40:01Well, I can't believe you. He's my fiancé.
00:40:03Can you please lay off?
00:40:05So is this girl a dime?
00:40:07Like a ten?
00:40:09Two fives?
00:40:11And one? Half a twenty?
00:40:13Oh, she's much more than a dime, Dave.
00:40:15She's bringing someone for you to meet, okay?
00:40:17He's really trying. Can you please try for me, Sam?
00:40:19Yeah, of course.
00:40:21I mean, I want to get married just as badly as you do.
00:40:26Hey!
00:40:27Oh, hello, Landon.
00:40:29Sure.
00:40:31Dumb Bill Dave, seriously?
00:40:33Jess, I said no one else that we know.
00:40:35You said no one else we know from middle school.
00:40:37Dumb Bill Dave transferred over
00:40:39sophomore year of high school, remember?
00:40:41What, are you backing out?
00:40:43Definitely not.
00:40:45Oh, he just started working for Landon.
00:40:47Great, a double whammy.
00:40:49I'm so pumped for this.
00:40:53Hi, pal.
00:40:55Awesome.
00:41:01Let's get ready to rumble!
00:41:13Hey!
00:41:19If you want me to show you how it's done,
00:41:21I'm happy to help.
00:41:25I'm kind of like an expert at this.
00:41:29Bah!
00:41:43Ooh.
00:41:49Ooh, somebody's key wrong
00:41:51is out of alignment today.
00:41:53Jess is a metaphor for what's happening
00:41:55to Maple in Vermont.
00:41:57She's being corrupted.
00:41:59Why don't you channel some of this energy into your writing?
00:42:01Oh, I am.
00:42:03My op-ed is going to be scathing.
00:42:05Ugh, I'm the only person
00:42:07seeing what's happening to Jess.
00:42:09Why this new with you lately?
00:42:11Rita, this is about me, okay?
00:42:13Jess is my best friend.
00:42:15I hear you've been on a few dates lately.
00:42:17Any new bows?
00:42:19Rita, 1943 wants its word back.
00:42:21No one says bow.
00:42:23This is Vermont.
00:42:25It's always a little bit 1943.
00:42:27I mean...
00:42:31Tomorrow afternoon,
00:42:33Jess set up a horseback riding date
00:42:35with Rancher Steve 007.
00:42:37You sent you his license plate number?
00:42:39What?
00:42:41No, Rita, he's from...
00:42:43Oh, don't you say New Hampshire.
00:42:45Dog, please.
00:42:47Not even Jess is that desperate.
00:42:49Good.
00:42:51I still don't want to go.
00:42:53Oh, honey, it'll be fine.
00:42:55Ow.
00:42:57You know, I would have put you on bread detail
00:42:59without faking an injury.
00:43:01Yeah, well, apparently horses go really fast
00:43:03when you say giddyup.
00:43:05Another fake date?
00:43:07Yeah, it's complicated.
00:43:09I just, I feel like I can't give up now, you know?
00:43:11Jess has to think that I'm making an effort, right?
00:43:13Right?
00:43:15Sure.
00:43:17Here.
00:43:19Whatever you say.
00:43:21That's what I said.
00:43:23Okay, you're the boss.
00:43:25Am I on bread?
00:43:27Sam, I don't really get it.
00:43:29That sounds like a lot of work.
00:43:31Well, yeah, it is a lot of work,
00:43:33but I'm the only one looking out for Jess.
00:43:35I've got to save her from this guy.
00:43:37Well, if you need another date to suffer through,
00:43:39I can set you up with my friend
00:43:41who's an ultimate fighting champion.
00:43:43Wow.
00:43:45Ouch.
00:43:47I'm so excited to eat here.
00:43:49We haven't had lunch at our spot together
00:43:51in, like, forever.
00:43:53It's just nice and quiet.
00:43:55Ugh, oysters.
00:43:57Um, don't get mad, okay?
00:43:59Keep an open mind.
00:44:01I actually have to go.
00:44:03I'm teaching music class this afternoon,
00:44:05but they set you up on four dates
00:44:07with the best bachelors in Vermont.
00:44:09What?
00:44:11You'll really like them, okay?

00:44:15Okay, have fun.
00:44:17Jess, you can't leave me with him, he's a man, man!
00:44:19Konnichiwa.
00:44:21How are you?
00:44:23Interested in dating at this time?
00:44:25You know, I'm the type of person
00:44:27that goes into something headfirst.
00:44:31Good day, my lady.
00:44:33Pretty, what be thy type?
00:44:35Little known fact,
00:44:37Vermont actually does have a coast guard.
00:44:39We monitor the international waters.
00:44:41If I wanted to destroy an enemy ship,
00:44:43is that something you could help me with?
00:44:45I'm not a pirate, ma'am.
00:44:47I'm looking for somebody
00:44:49that I can really connect with.
00:44:51Vibe, it's just,
00:44:53I'm not really feeling it.

00:44:57Sam,
00:44:59like a very tasty, tasty ham.
00:45:01Doo, doo, doo, doo.
00:45:03Is that a literal canon
00:45:05or a metaphorical canon?
00:45:07You and I could be one.
00:45:09That's when I saw the dragon.
00:45:11I was going to need a helm
00:45:13of plus 20 fire resist.
00:45:15One that I want,
00:45:17just like you.

00:46:17Papa told me I'm no good at singing
00:46:19and that singing is silly.
00:46:21Well, do you think singing is silly?
00:46:23No.
00:46:25I think you have a beautiful voice
00:46:27and I think it's really important to listen to yourself
00:46:29and to do what you love.
00:46:31No matter what they say?
00:46:33No matter what anyone says.
00:46:35I love singing.
00:46:37Well, then let's sing.
00:46:39How about you go get the biggest drum?
00:46:41Yes.
00:46:43You're really good at this.
00:46:45Aw, thanks.
00:46:47It's been fun.
00:46:49Wanda decided not to return
00:46:51after maternity leave
00:46:53so there's a full-time position with your name on it.
00:46:55Oh, I wish I could
00:46:57but the farm is my full-time job.

00:47:35No, I don't drink beer.
00:47:37I don't drink beer all the time.

00:48:35Sam, come pee with me.
00:48:39You've been rejecting every cute guy.
00:48:41I feel like you're not even trying to meet someone.
00:48:43What do you mean?
00:48:45I have been on so many dates, okay?
00:48:47It's not my fault they've all been duds.

00:49:15That happened all of a sudden?
00:49:17Sam, we're engaged.
00:49:19Well, so be engaged then, okay?
00:49:21Just...
00:49:23It doesn't need to be so rushed.
00:49:25I'm not rushing.
00:49:27I'm just thinking about wedding dates.
00:49:29You can't set a date.
00:49:31We have a pact, remember?
00:49:35I haven't forgotten, but I'd like to.
00:49:37Well, you know what?
00:49:39You can't move out, okay?
00:49:41I'm sure I will meet someone great,
00:49:43and then it will be great,
00:49:45and then we can figure out the 30-day notice.
00:49:47Yo, when's your place available?
00:49:49It's not.

00:51:07Hey, come on, it's important to her
00:51:09Look, this whole thing is really hard
00:51:11but I made a promise
00:51:13and I can't break a promise
00:51:15Didn't it happen a long time ago?
00:51:17Like when you were 12 or something?
00:51:19I just wish she could be happy for you
00:51:21She's just being protective
00:51:23She doesn't trust you
00:51:25with the whole Peterson thing
00:51:27You know, there's no reason
00:51:29not to trust you, right?
00:51:31I do want to make sure
00:51:33everything's clear between us
00:51:35and there's a conversation
00:51:37that I've been wanting to have
00:51:49Okay, if I don't look at it
00:51:51I won't feel sick

00:52:17You know what I...
00:52:19Hey, wait!
00:52:21What if I create the worst breakup
00:52:23of all time and I'm so
00:52:25beyond destroyed that
00:52:27Jess can't leave?
00:52:29Oh my God, I'll invent the perfect relationship
00:52:31and then have it blow up and she won't be able to move out

00:54:25who isn't an employee in
00:54:27What do you think they're hiding?
00:54:29Well, they actually lured me into a meeting
00:54:31then they strong-armed me into a conference room
00:54:33and tried to bully me into selling my farm
00:54:35Well, an inside source
00:54:37told me that Peterson Maple
00:54:39has a policy against buying family farms
00:54:41We don't want flat-landing money
00:54:43We want our traditions
00:54:47Jess, stop scaring away
00:54:49my interviewees
00:54:51Sam, you're not being impartial
00:54:53you're just egging on negativity

00:54:57Wow, Jess, you really have changed your perspective
00:54:59Yeah, you really have, huh?

00:55:43Talk to you later
00:55:59Mrs. Peterson, can I speak with you for a minute?
00:56:01One minute
00:56:03This was our strategy
00:56:05and it was never to buy up single-family farms
00:56:07It was to benefit everyone and create international demand
00:56:11We are benefiting everyone
00:56:13These old farms are falling down
00:56:15We're giving these people more money
00:56:17than they've seen in their entire life
00:56:19These falling-down farms are the brand
00:56:21They're the exact brand that we're trying to bring to market
00:56:23Bannon, look, you have a good heart, okay?
00:56:25But this is business
00:56:27If they are selling, we are buying
00:56:29End of discussion
00:56:33They're so funny
00:56:35Hey, Sam was just telling us
00:56:37about her hunk-a-hunk-a-burnin' love
00:56:39I knew you two would hit it off
00:56:41He sounds like a cool dude
00:56:43I think it's so cool that you met volunteering
00:56:45Yeah, right?
00:56:47I mean, he's there basically every day
00:56:49because his parents own the place
00:56:51Guys, they are such good people
00:56:53I mean, like, instant family
00:56:55He has such a big heart
00:56:57Well, I'm really excited for you, Sam
00:56:59Thanks, yeah
00:57:01He's, um, he's also a pilot
00:57:03and, um, he could take us all
00:57:05for, like, a weekend getaway, right?
00:57:07We need to meet him ASAP
00:57:09I know, you guys, I'm so bummed
00:57:11he couldn't make it here today
00:57:13He flew to Boston for this, like, really big
00:57:15super important meeting or whatever
00:57:17Oh, my God, Bambi!
00:57:19Your flight got canceled
00:57:21Wow
00:57:23Yep, pilot got the flu
00:57:25Oh, he means co-pilot
00:57:27Good ball
00:57:29Thanks for showing up to support
00:57:31You know, uh, Honey Buns
00:57:33there is a perfect spot to put that sign
00:57:35Um, right over there
00:57:37So, um
00:57:39Nice to meet you
00:57:41Hi
00:57:43Did you tell them I'm a flight attendant?
00:57:45A pilot? Flight attendant?
00:57:47Yeah, because that's the crazy story
00:57:49Look it, Colin, I am so glad that you're here
00:57:51Me too
00:57:53We need to stage this breakup ASAP
00:57:55We just started dating
00:57:57Come on, swishy!
00:57:59Yeah!
00:58:01Ah!
00:58:03I can't believe you just said that
00:58:05That is such a sexist comment
00:58:07You know what? Both men and women can both be winners in my book
00:58:09I cannot date someone who thinks like that
00:58:11Yep, you're right, babe
00:58:13I don't believe in winners and losers
00:58:15I believe that everybody is equal in my book
00:58:17Your book and your schedule
00:58:19Everything's always about you
00:58:21Yep, my book, my schedule
00:58:23The only thing that says in them is Samantha
00:58:25You're not listening to me!
00:58:27You never listen!
00:58:29There's no talking about my cornrows
00:58:31Sorry babe, I wasn't listening
00:58:33I was composing a poem for you in my head
00:58:35Aww
00:58:37Haiku
00:58:39What? That was good
00:58:41What?
00:58:43You know, I like him better than Samantha
00:58:45Sometimes
00:58:47Colin, what are you doing?
00:58:49I don't wanna break up
00:58:51This is serious, okay? I'm trying to save Jess
00:58:53You're screwing it up
00:58:55I'm screwing it up?
00:58:57What is that supposed to mean?
00:58:59Look at what this is doing to you
00:59:01I mean, is this really who you are?
00:59:03You know what?
00:59:05You are not being a very good friend right now
00:59:07Wow, okay
00:59:09I think you need to look up the definition of the word friend
00:59:11Colin, just leave me alone, okay?
00:59:13I never should have done community service
00:59:15What?
00:59:23Oh!
00:59:25No! No! No!
00:59:27Get out of here!
00:59:29It all looks the same!
00:59:33My mother always warned me
00:59:35Don't go into her corners
00:59:37For the girl you don't know
00:59:47That way!
00:59:53Woo!
00:59:55Woo!
00:59:57Woo!
00:59:59Woo!
01:00:01Woo!
01:00:13Take that, Peterson!
01:00:19I printed out enough copies
01:00:21To send to every paper in the state
01:00:25I will also need stamps and envelopes, please
01:00:27That's some title
01:00:29Yeah, well, sometimes you have to burn the trash, Rusty
01:00:35So I guess this is our
01:00:3730 days notice
01:00:39I'm sorry I didn't give you more of a heads up
01:00:41Just, you know, with Sam
01:00:43Oh, I know, poor Samantha
01:00:45What is she gonna do?
01:00:47I don't know
01:00:49She's stressing me out
01:00:51I know, she's having a hard time right now
01:00:53Yeah
01:00:55I don't know if she's been very kind
01:00:57She's so unhappy
01:00:59But I have to tell her I gave you notice
01:01:01I can't lie
01:01:03Hang in there
01:01:05It'll all come out in the wash
01:01:19Callum broke up with me!
01:01:23What?
01:01:25What happened?
01:01:27He got back together with his ex
01:01:29A flight attendant
01:01:31Apparently they weren't even officially broken up
01:01:35Why does it hurt this much?
01:01:37I'm so, so sorry
01:01:39I'm so, so sorry
01:01:41I'm so, so sorry
01:01:43I'm so, so sorry
01:01:45I'm so, so sorry
01:01:47I'm so, so sorry
01:01:51Okay, here, I'll clear my whole day
01:01:53Okay, we can watch a Julia movie
01:01:55And shoot the potato cannon
01:01:57Yeah
01:02:01Having some alone time with you actually sounds really nice
01:02:05Okay, love
01:02:11Whoa!
01:02:13That was crazy
01:02:15Amazing
01:02:17Nice one
01:02:23That was exactly what I needed
01:02:25I know, but since when did life get so stressful?
01:02:29Well, I mean, I can think of a catalyst or two
01:02:35You know what, Sam?
01:02:37All I want to do is tell you what I'm going through
01:02:39And what I'm thinking
01:02:41And I feel like I can't
01:02:43I finally find the guy of my dreams
01:02:45And my best friend hates him
01:02:47Well, maybe that means
01:02:49He's just not the guy of your dreams
01:02:51See?
01:02:53I can't talk to you
01:02:55You're so close-minded about him
01:02:57I miss my best friend
01:03:01Well
01:03:03I miss my best friend too
01:03:05Are you ready?
01:03:07Happy engagement!
01:03:09Woo!
01:03:13That's for you
01:03:17That's for you
01:03:19Thank you, sir
01:03:21So, if we could all gather around
01:03:23I would love to make a toast
01:03:25To my beautiful bride-to-be
01:03:27I cannot wait
01:03:29To spend the rest of my life with you
01:03:31I love you
01:03:33Cheers
01:03:35We love you, Sam
01:03:37For the honeymoon, I'd love to get her over to Nantucket
01:03:39And teach her how to sail
01:03:41Hey, I'm going to work these off later
01:03:43With a little goat yoga
01:03:45If you want to come with
01:03:47I'm actually allergic to goats
01:03:49So, thank you
01:03:51Hey, congrats
01:03:53And congrats on the big news
01:03:55Come on
01:03:57How much you guys pull in?
01:03:59Half a mil?
01:04:01Two quarters?
01:04:03Four eights?
01:04:05Five hundos?
01:04:07I heard yours was our biggest farm sale yet
01:04:09What?
01:04:11That sounds like it was many of them
01:04:13You bought Jess's family farm?
01:04:15You syrup, you serper
01:04:17Whoa, whoa, whoa
01:04:19Why would you do that?
01:04:21Why would you do that?
01:04:23Jess!
01:04:25I didn't know, I swear
01:04:27You told me that your company
01:04:29Wasn't buying family farms
01:04:31Please, let me try to explain
01:04:33Let you explain?
01:04:35That is the one line
01:04:37Every liar says in every movie
01:04:39I've been defending Peterson Maple
01:04:41To the entire community
01:04:43Listen, I was trying to make it better
01:04:45If you really loved her
01:04:47You wouldn't lie
01:04:49Sam, stop hating on him
01:04:51You've been attacking him since the beginning
01:04:53This doesn't involve you
01:04:55Of course it involves me, okay?
01:04:57I'm protecting you like I always have
01:04:59I don't need you to protect me
01:05:01Fine, fine, then enjoy your life
01:05:03With Liar Liar Pants on Fire
01:05:05I'm a corporation
01:05:07Come on, Sam
01:05:09This can't be happening
01:05:11I was just upholding a pact
01:05:13Like any good friend
01:05:15Well, I've been doing nothing but fight for the stupid pact
01:05:17Because I'm a good friend
01:05:23Sam was right
01:05:25I shouldn't have fallen for somebody that I barely know
01:05:27If I can't trust you, I can't be your family
01:05:29And I don't think I can be your family anymore, either
01:05:35Okay, can we stop with the slamming?
01:05:37No!
01:05:39Why couldn't you just let me be in love?
01:05:41You're supposed to have my back
01:05:43Yeah, we are supposed to have each other's backs
01:05:45Just because you need some guy to be happy
01:05:47Doesn't mean I do
01:05:49Okay, you girls have nothing but each other's backs
01:05:51So guess what?
01:05:53I'm leaving
01:05:55You can marry whoever you want
01:05:57I don't need you, Jess
01:05:59I don't need you, Jess
01:06:03Well, I don't need you, either
01:06:07Fairy tales say
01:06:09That everything works out
01:06:11When you meet the guy of your dreams
01:06:13But it doesn't
01:06:15Ooh, careful
01:06:17The prince is really the villain
01:06:19And your best friend shattered your glass flipper
01:06:23I'm gonna be plenty warm this winter
01:06:29Hey, old schmanta!
01:06:31What?
01:06:33Just wanted to let you know your mailbox is overflowing
01:06:35Oh
01:06:59Ah
01:07:01Ah
01:07:05Okay, okay
01:07:11Ah
01:07:21Ever since you
01:07:23Waved goodbye
01:07:29I've never
01:07:31Had so much
01:07:33Time
01:07:37This table's too big now
01:07:41A table for two
01:07:47And life carries on
01:07:49Without you
01:07:53Ah
01:07:55Ah
01:07:57I've still got
01:07:59To burn
01:08:01Hello?
01:08:03The sound of a city
01:08:05What?
01:08:07I'm working on a puzzle
01:08:09Five thousand pieces
01:08:13I'm already up to
01:08:17A thousand and two
01:08:19A thousand and two
01:08:25And life carries on
01:08:27Without you
01:08:45I feel the spring
01:08:47Without you
01:09:01Stop staring at me
01:09:03Dad
01:09:09I was so worried about you
01:09:13You had a really bad fall
01:09:15We have to take this seriously
01:09:17I'm gonna be fine, don't worry
01:09:21Okay
01:09:23We'll get through this together
01:09:25You just sounded exactly like your mother
01:09:29I love you, sweetheart
01:09:33I love you too, Dad
01:09:37You're the only family I have left
01:09:41Poor Sam
01:09:45We're not speaking
01:09:49Where's that nice fiancé of yours?
01:09:53Also not speaking
01:09:57Are you not talking to Landon because of the farm?
01:10:03Oh, I wish I'd been the one
01:10:05To tell you first
01:10:09We've been going under for years
01:10:11When they came to me with an offer
01:10:13I was...
01:10:15I was more than happy to take it
01:10:19I have had my eye
01:10:21On a lakefront
01:10:23Assisted living facility
01:10:25I've already put my name in
01:10:27For the cribbage tournament
01:10:29Dad
01:10:31Honey
01:10:33You have been taking care of me
01:10:35And the farm forever
01:10:37I want you to feel free
01:10:39To choose your life
01:10:43Speaking of which
01:10:45How's that music class of yours?
01:10:47It's actually going really well
01:10:51I really like teaching them
01:11:01Excuse me?
01:11:03This is private property
01:11:05Rita, it's me
01:11:07Sam
01:11:09Honey, I thought you were a homeless person
01:11:11What's the matter?
01:11:13Everything's the matter
01:11:15Everyone hated my article
01:11:17I lost my best friend
01:11:19And
01:11:21I am homeless
01:11:25Honey, let's go get some cheddar soup
01:11:29Come on
01:11:41Come on
01:11:51I can't believe Jess didn't appreciate
01:11:53Everything that I did for her
01:11:55Are you sure what you did was for her?
01:12:01Well, I was really happy how everything was
01:12:05I guess I never really tried to meet anyone
01:12:07Because Jess was just filling that space
01:12:11But
01:12:13Now I am alone
01:12:15Who wants to date a girl
01:12:17Who's friendless and homeless?
01:12:19Hopefully somebody
01:12:23Honey, you are a rare bird
01:12:25It's gonna take a special guy
01:12:27To keep up with you
01:12:29And when you meet him, you will hear church bells
01:12:33That's not a thing, no one hears church bells
01:12:35In the meantime, what's wrong
01:12:37With a little alone time?
01:12:39In order to be able to fly
01:12:41With someone else, you have to be able to fly
01:12:43On your own first, right?
01:12:47Which brings me
01:12:49To your article
01:12:51Honey, that was more of a hate note
01:12:53Than an op-ed
01:12:55That's not the Sam I know
01:12:59How about a rewrite with a little less rage
01:13:01And a little more heart?
01:13:03Old Macdonald
01:13:05Had a farm
01:13:07E-I-E-I-O
01:13:09And on that farm
01:13:11He...
01:13:13Nobody?
01:13:15Hi, you guys!
01:13:19Hi, you guys!
01:13:21I missed you!
01:13:25Hey, if that's what you're looking for
01:13:27I've got something for you
01:13:29What is it?
01:13:31Hey, if that full-time position
01:13:33Is still available, I'll take it
01:13:35Definitely
01:13:37Okay, you guys, let's get in a circle
01:13:39Circle time!
01:13:41Okay, ready?
01:13:43Going through the jungle, what do we see?
01:13:45Change is hard
01:13:47But it is inevitable
01:13:49As all Vermonters know
01:13:51I look outside to see a maple tree
01:13:53Standing full of pride
01:13:55And endurance
01:13:57A maple tree holds strong
01:13:59Through all four seasons
01:14:01Well, five if you count mud season
01:14:03It can withstand
01:14:05Because it has found a perfect balance
01:14:07Between changing to adapt
01:14:09And maintaining strong roots
01:14:11Ms. Peterson!
01:14:13I think you need to read this
01:14:19Like a maple tree
01:14:21Vermonters need to evolve
01:14:23With the maple sugaring industry
01:14:25Except for the maple trees
01:14:27And the maple trees
01:14:29And the maple trees
01:14:31And the maple trees
01:14:33And the maple trees
01:14:35And the maple trees
01:14:37And the maple trees
01:14:39The maple sugaring industry
01:14:41Accepting each new season as it comes
01:14:43And making room for Peterson Maple
01:14:45At the same time
01:14:47Peterson Maple should respect
01:14:49And build off the strength of our Vermont roots
01:15:09applause
01:15:33applause
01:15:39music
01:15:55Hi
01:15:57He is wearing a flannel
01:15:59I am so proud of you
01:16:01Thank you
01:16:03Nice sign Kayla
01:16:05Hey Harry
01:16:07Everybody
01:16:09Thank you all for coming out today
01:16:11I could not be prouder
01:16:13Of this unique community
01:16:15We have here in Vermont
01:16:17Now this community
01:16:19Has very strong values
01:16:21They take great pride
01:16:23In the beauty of the state
01:16:25And its traditions
01:16:27And they also take great pride
01:16:29In the inclusiveness
01:16:31Of everybody's opinion
01:16:33So we've heard
01:16:35Some great points from the community
01:16:37Today and from the mayor
01:16:39So it's time to hand over the floor
01:16:41To Peterson Maple
01:16:47Hello Vermonters
01:16:49Thank you for the floor
01:16:51Um
01:16:55I had
01:17:01I had planned what I was going to say but forget it
01:17:03I um
01:17:05I've been here just
01:17:07A couple months
01:17:09And uh
01:17:11It just took me a few minutes to see how special this place was
01:17:13To understand that
01:17:15Vermonters have each other's backs
01:17:19And along the way I um
01:17:23Learned a lot about myself
01:17:25About corporate responsibility
01:17:29And I learned about just
01:17:31The right thing
01:17:33So
01:17:35We here at Peterson Maple
01:17:37Are going to have your backs
01:17:39We're going to do the right thing
01:17:41We don't want to tear down what you've built
01:17:43We want to add to it
01:17:45So from this point forward
01:17:47We will only tap unused maple trees
01:17:49And furthermore
01:17:51And most importantly
01:17:53We will no longer purchase family farms
01:18:01As an added assurance

01:19:01Oh, thanks Sam
01:19:05I'm sorry
01:19:07I'm sorry
01:19:09I'm sorry
01:19:11I'm sorry
01:19:13I'm sorry
01:19:15I'm sorry
01:19:19So
01:19:21Um
01:19:23I'm uh
01:19:25Here today because I am
01:19:27Redefining
01:19:29My definition of being a good friend
01:19:31What you said
01:19:33Uh at the meeting
01:19:35Earlier today was commendable
01:19:39I didn't know they had purchased your farm
01:19:41But I should have done more to stop it
01:19:43I misjudged you.
01:19:46Look, Jess has always kind of been, um...
01:19:54just kind of like my person.
01:19:56And, uh, I'm not close with my parents.
01:20:00To be honest, I'm not really close with most people.
01:20:05It felt like you had just taken her away from me.
01:20:10And I realize now that just because things change
01:20:15doesn't mean that they end.
01:20:17You are a pretty tough act to follow.
01:20:21All Jess talks about is how great you are.
01:20:25And it's hard because I want to be her perfect person,
01:20:28but you already are.
01:20:30I mean, you guys were already married on Facebook.
01:20:33Well, there's room for Jess to have a love of her life
01:20:37and a best friend.
01:20:39Mm-hmm.
01:20:40I can, uh, let you be the best friend.
01:20:45Oh, um...
01:20:47What's this?
01:20:54Thank you.
01:20:56Well, asking Jess's dad for his blessing was customary,
01:21:00but now I realize how I really should have asked.
01:21:03So, Sam, I would like to ask permission
01:21:06to take your best friend's hand in marriage.
01:21:10Permission granted.
01:21:13Cheers.
01:21:16What do you think?
01:21:18Cappuccino is not as bad as I thought.
01:21:21Grows on you, right?
01:21:23Kind of does, yeah.
01:21:37Hey.
01:21:39Packing up the farm, huh?
01:21:42Yeah.
01:21:47Saw your article.
01:21:49Did you like it?
01:21:51I loved it, Sam.
01:21:53Good.
01:21:55Because, uh, so did the Vermont Times.
01:21:59I have an interview with them next week.
01:22:01For a job with a desk?
01:22:03For a job with a desk.
01:22:05Yeah.
01:22:08How's, um, how's your dad doing?
01:22:13He's doing better.
01:22:16Well, that's good.
01:22:19A lot of boxes.
01:22:22A lot of memories in this kitchen.
01:22:24Yeah.
01:22:26Speaking of memories, um,
01:22:31do you remember that summer we went swimming at Red Rocks
01:22:34and we hiked up the 40-foot cliff?
01:22:37Well, when we got to the top,
01:22:39you all tried so hard to get me to jump.
01:22:42You were coaching me, bribing me.
01:22:45I think someone even offered to hold my hand.
01:22:48Anyway, you all jumped, and I didn't.
01:22:51And I remember just being so incredibly mad at you
01:22:55for leaving me all alone up there.
01:22:57You know, I had to scoot back down all the way
01:23:00in Harry's super ugly Tevas.
01:23:04Anyway, I'm telling you this because
01:23:07that's just sort of been my life, you know,
01:23:11me not jumping and being mad at everyone else because they did.
01:23:17God, we're turning 30 this year,
01:23:20and I guess part of me just still feels all alone,
01:23:24stuck on the top of Red Rocks
01:23:27in really ugly Tevas.
01:23:31Jess, I just want you to know
01:23:33that I'm really sorry for everything.
01:23:37I'm really sorry, too.
01:23:46Now, for my first duty as maid of honor.
01:23:50Da-da-da-da!
01:23:54Whoa.
01:23:55First off, no go on the dress.
01:23:57Where did you even get that thing?
01:23:59And secondly, no go on the groom.
01:24:02We haven't spoken.
01:24:04Okay, look.
01:24:06I have to show you something.
01:24:11And furthermore, and most importantly,
01:24:14we will no longer purchase family farms.
01:24:20He's a good one, Jess.
01:24:22And I'm sorry it took me so long to see it.
01:24:26I really love him.
01:24:28And I really love you, too, Sam.
01:24:31I know you do.
01:24:33Which is why we're gonna go get us a groom!
01:24:39Thanks for the ride, Constable Johnston.
01:24:41There's no law when it comes to love.
01:24:44Next stop, Peterson Maple.
01:24:46I think we need one final touch.
01:24:50Da-da-da-da.
01:24:52You are officially banned from the thrift store.
01:24:55Okay, come here. Hold still.
01:24:58I love doing that.
01:25:02Oh, my gosh.
01:25:06Okay, he doesn't know we're here yet.
01:25:11Hi, Mrs. Peterson.
01:25:12It is your perfect timing. He's heading this way now.
01:25:19Are you ready?
01:25:21Are you ready?
01:25:23Go get him.
01:25:26Oh.
01:25:3424th and then by the 25th.
01:25:41Give me a second.
01:25:49I'm sorry.
01:25:50I'm so sorry.
01:25:53I got caught up in the pact and everything got crazy.
01:25:56No one can ever replace Sam,
01:25:58but no one can ever replace you, either.
01:26:05You make me really happy, Landon.
01:26:08If you put this ring back on my finger,
01:26:10I promise I'll never take it off.
01:26:19Come here.
01:26:20I love you, Maple.
01:26:29By the powers vested in me,
01:26:32I now pronounce you husband and wife.
01:26:36You may kiss the bride.
01:26:46Guess what, you guys.
01:26:48Sam and I are going to start our own community center.
01:26:51We're moving to Maine.
01:26:54But we have a pact.
01:26:56And we promise to always live in the same town.
01:26:59Always and forever.
