00:00We go live to Venezuela, to Caracas.
00:06President Nicolás Maduro has arrived by the Supreme Tribunal of Justice to file an appeal
00:11before the judges, the magistrates of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice.
00:15These are, we are seeing the live images as the president is carrying out the process
00:22of filing this appeal before the Supreme Tribunal of Justice.
00:27All this comes in the context that Venezuela has been experiencing in the past couple
00:31of days, after the electoral day on Sunday, July 28th, where the country has seen an escalation
00:38of violence sponsored and cited by the far right that refused to recognize the electoral
00:44results of Sunday's presidential elections, and incidents have been reported in these
00:51past days as groups sponsored by the far right, both in the nation and by their sponsors
00:58from outside, from the States and the European Union, have incited violence and hate to disavow,
01:05to not recognize the electoral results as they claim, without providing any substantial
01:10evidence whatsoever that there was electoral fraud during the elections of Sunday, last
01:19Sunday, July 28th, where the National Electoral Council declared Nicolás Maduro's victory
01:26as president of the nation, with over 50% of the votes, 51.2% of the votes.
01:34Yet from the far opposition, from that sector of the opposition, the far right opposition,
01:38they have claimed that the elections were rigged, that the results were manipulated,
01:44and this triggered a series of riots and protests that have turned violent in different
01:51areas of the country.
01:53So far, the attorney general's office in declarations have reported that over 700 people, 749 people,
02:01have been arrested so far in these violent incidents, several of them have already confessed
02:06that they were paid to carry out these violent actions to try to bring disorder and destabilize
02:12the nation, to implement, as President Maduro has denounced, that they are trying to implement
02:20a coup d'etat with the support of the media, which is giving a distorted report of what
02:26is currently happening, as these protests, these violent protests have been described
02:34in Western mainstream media as peaceful protests, but images shown as proof, as evidence by
02:41the district, by the attorney general of Venezuela, show a completely different picture.
02:49So this is the context right now, President Nicolás Maduro is before the magistrates
02:53of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice, presenting an appeal in this context that the nation
02:59is experiencing.
03:00Yesterday, on Tuesday, the President held an important joint meeting between the State
03:06Council and the State of National Defense to create the plan to carry on what is going
03:12to happen and what they were going to do to face these plans by the far right to prevent
03:19the destabilization, to guarantee and safeguard the peace that has been won by the Venezuelan
03:25people throughout these years of struggles.
03:34So these are the live images we are getting from Caracas, as the President is filing the
03:40appeal and is referring to, speaking directly to the magistrates of the Supreme Tribunal
03:47of Justice, as we were referring to these outcomes in the context of the destabilization
03:55attempts that have been carried out through these couple of days, right after the electoral
04:01victory of Sunday's presidential election, where the National Electoral Council announced
04:08the victory of Nicolás Maduro as President of the nation.
04:12The National Electoral Council has also denounced a massive cyber attack carried out against
04:18its machines, the electoral machines, to try to delay, to try to hamper the delivery of
04:28the electoral results, try to hamper the time that it would take for counting the votes.
04:34This is one of the points that the far right has been leaning on to say that there were
04:39manipulations because still the official results have not been announced, even though that
04:43according to the laws, they are still within the permitted time, within the established
04:48time to present the final tally of the results.
04:52But of course, amid all this, the National Electoral Council has denounced this massive
04:57cyber attacks being carried out against the electoral system, against the website, the
05:02online page of the electoral system, which is hindering all this vote counting process,
05:07which would cause its delays.
05:08But still, as I was saying, it's still within the supposed allowed time that it would normally
05:14take for the authorities to pronounce and come forward with the full results.
05:21In this context of attacks being carried out by the far right, several international
05:28governments, several governments from the area have already taken a step forward to
05:34show their support to these far right organizations, like in Peru, that they have moved forward
05:41without the electoral authorities still providing all the results, they have moved forward and
05:45said that they will recognize the far right opposition candidate as the elected president.
05:52This triggered that Venezuela announced yesterday, on Tuesday, that it will break relations with
05:59Peru, since this goes against the Vienna Conventions on Diplomatic Relations, and in the face of
06:08these actions by the Peruvian government, they had no choice but to take the decision
06:13to break diplomatic relations with Peru.
06:18We continue to see the live images of the president as he's presenting his arguments,
06:22he's describing in details to the magistrates of everything that has been happening, and
06:28the reason why he's there to present this appeal before the Supreme Tribunal of Justice,
06:37with all details, everything, all the information they have, by the body language we can see
06:46he's speaking with conviction of what he's referring to, and they are truly convinced
06:51of what they're doing.
06:52There have been days of hard work in Venezuela, we have seen, we have been providing all the
06:58details of how they unfold, of how they are happening, intense meetings, yesterday the
07:06president held a meeting with the State Council, a joint meeting between the State Council
07:11and the State of National Defense, to carry out plans, to see what they were going to
07:17do.
07:18Among the decisions taken to move forward and face these far-right destabilization attempts,
07:26the president announced that they will create a commission to evaluate the country's biosecurity
07:31system, and they would count with the help of Russian and Chinese ambassadors.
07:36In this same meeting, they also approved a fund of $10 million to support the victims
07:43of all these incidents that have been reported in the past couple of days in Venezuela, and
07:53the deployment has also been ordered, the deployment of the second phase of the Plan
07:57Republica, the Republic Plan, we must remember this is the plan established by the defense
08:03authorities, the security forces of Venezuela, in a first phase to guarantee the safety of
08:11the voting day, during the voting day, and before going to the voting day, the safety
08:15of all the electoral equipment, everything that has to do with the election, and now
08:19in a second phase that has been activated to ensure the safety of the streets of Venezuela,
08:26to carry on safeguarding the streets in patrol, to carry on the safety of the streets, the
08:34communities, as violent incidents have been reported, as the images portrayed by the Attorney
08:39General's office show images of aggressions of far-right supporters assaulting people
08:47that were not of their political belief, people that supported other policies, as well
08:56as attacks against government buildings in different towns, different areas of the country,
09:02setting on fire different public buildings, and throwing Molotov cocktails against places,
09:09setting them on fire, all these movements of violence have been experienced in Venezuela
09:15in these last two days, actions that have been denounced by the Attorney General's office,
09:21as he showed yesterday in a press conference, evidence on the people that have been arrested,
09:26evidence on the actions that have been carried out, and evidence that they will continue
09:31working and they will not allow impunity to rule in Venezuela, and all those that break
09:36the law will face the law with the harshest term, as justice will not cease to work until
09:43everyone that is responsible for this event, for these incidents, violent incidents, face
09:49justice and are held responsible.
09:53Yesterday also the National Assembly held an ordinary session where deputies of the
09:58National Assembly showed their support for the electoral results announced by the National
10:06Electoral Council, and deputies showed their resolute conviction to safeguard democracy
10:12and the values of the Bolivarian revolution that have led the Venezuelan people to this
10:17moment of prosperity that they are recovering, they are recovering after years of cruel and
10:26harsh sanctions that have tried to cripple the Venezuelan economy and the Venezuelan
10:30will, but after years of hard work, little by little the Venezuelan economy and infrastructure
10:37has been recovered, Venezuela today is one of the nations in the region that has the
10:45highest positive numbers in terms of growth and recovery of its economy and infrastructure
10:50in different sectors, and deputies at this ordinary session of the National Assembly
10:58all rallied behind the constitutional elected president, Nicolás Maduro, as they recognized
11:05the results of the National Electoral Council and said that would not allow fascism to come
11:12again in Venezuela.
11:14These words were expressed by the president of the National Assembly, Jorge RodrĂguez
11:18who is also present right now in these images that we are seeing live, Jorge RodrĂguez
11:24is also present at this moment that the Venezuelan president is filing an appeal before the Supreme
11:31Tribunal of Justice.
11:35He expressed it very clearly in his words that fascism would not be allowed to enter
11:39again in Venezuela because they will keep working and they will work hard to safeguard
11:46all the victories that the Bolivarian Revolution has achieved today, so it was a full support
11:52that was received by the Electoral Council at this ordinary session where they denounced
11:58the destabilizing actions by the far right and the people behind all these destabilizing
12:05actions.
12:06There we are seeing, it seems that President Nicolás Maduro is finishing presenting the
12:11facts and the details for him to come here to file this appeal and it seems that he is
12:16going to deliver the documents straight to the magistrates of the Supreme Tribunal of
12:21Justice of Venezuela as he is finalizing the presentation that he has been giving with
12:30all the details, all the information that they have got so far and the need probably,
12:35the need to ensure that Venezuela continues to be a nation of peace as it has been for
12:41the past couple of years and a nation that continues to work towards the full recovery
12:47of its economy and of its infrastructure after being one of the hardest hit countries
12:52in the world with crippling sanctions coming from the States and the European Union.

14:42days in Venezuela of the destabilizing and violent actions that have been carried out
14:48against the Venezuelan people, not only against the constitutionally elected authority but
14:53also against the people as the authorities have described that all these attacks do not
14:59go to the government authorities but they hit primarily and affect directly the people,
15:05the Venezuelan people that voted in peace during Sunday's electoral process.
15:24So after the signing of all these official documents, the appeal is formally presented.
15:30We will probably have more information in an upcoming news brief of all the details
15:36that are within these documents and all the little aspects, the little details that go

15:50of the opposition, of the far-right opposition trying to escalate violence in Venezuela
15:55as they did previously years ago in other occasions like the case of the Guarimbas,
16:02of the known Guarimbas.
16:04As of today, the far-right has refused to recognize any electoral process in which they
16:13have lost, which is in the most cases, in the majority of cases.

17:55how they are going to move forward.
17:58Hard work that has been carried out, strong meetings, and the people have shown so far
