00:00gentlemen you both had your instructions in the dressing room so you know what's expected
00:03get your punches up bayman commands protect yourselves at all times good luck to you both
00:07gentlemen touch gloves well this one looks a really good fight both men unbeaten quinn hoping
00:12for carl frampton like support kelso very much the away fighter tonight in this place but 18 years
00:19after first walking into a gym he's looking for the biggest win of his life the vacant commonwealth
00:24flyweight title is on the line this one could be a cracker it yeah i always like to see two
00:32undefeated boxers going head to head and that's what we have here i think on paper from the slight
00:37favorite maybe quinn because he has the home advantage but kelso probably a little bit more
00:43experience isn't he um he's gone 10 rounds a couple of times whereas quinn has only been eight
00:49rounds just the one one time this is a 12 rounder so um a question mark for both boxers
00:56on paper yes it's close i would say quinn slight favorite because the home advantage
01:01both of them unbeaten there is a draw on the record of conor quinn conor kelso's won all 11
01:09there are six stoppages on the record of quinn and that would indicate that of the two of them
01:13he's the one in there that has the power they've been fighting for this belt three months shy of
01:19a hundred years september 1924 the first time it was contested quinn looking to follow in the
01:24footsteps of damien kelly and the great rinty monaghan as a belfast fighter to win it kelso
01:29walking very much into the lion's den and hoping to leave here tonight with the spoils as richie
01:36says 12 rounds and the vacant commonwealth flyweight title is on the line purple and black
01:42with a bit of gold for don caster's conor kelso and the black green and gold of the belfast man
01:48conor quinn you can see why kelso has only had one stop his um fletch his movement is probably
01:59his strength he's hitting and moving they're not certainly not pointing his feet and concentrating
02:04on power but he is a lovely mover isn't he hit him moving drifting probably a little bit too
02:10much to the left so he's got to watch that with the low left hand but nevertheless you can see
02:14that it's his movement that gets him out of the trouble he's fast in and out that's a lovely
02:19fast darting jab that he throws so it's an interesting puzzle that quinn has got to
02:25solve here it's the celtic champion against the english champion and we mentioned that quinn's
02:31the one with the power kelso's sharp on his feet the only blemish on quinn's record surprisingly
02:37is a draw with darwin martinez who we saw opened things up tonight against jack d turner so
02:46that's where the draw came from and tonight's conor quinn's queensbury debut
02:51as well so big for him in many many different ways
02:56yes
03:15kelso with that movement fast in and out little darting raids that he does he's probably just
03:20done enough to nick this one certainly i'm expecting a tempo change from quinn

04:11yes
04:22jason cunningham the former british commonwealth and european super bantamweight champion part of
04:27conor kelso's team if it is going to be early it'll be quinn four wins inside two rounds and
04:34five inside four but his first challenge is to find a way to start landing shots
04:40on conor kelso who is on the move pretty much for the entirety of the first round
04:45and he just showed us a glimpse there of what he's got to be trying to do and certainly that
04:49right hand over the top that he's probably got to target if you look at the movement to kelso he
04:53keeps drifting after he's thrown that jab he's on the move already round to his left and what
05:00quinn has got to do he's just time that right hand sharp movement with the feet maybe a step
05:05forward just whip the right hand as kelso's drifting round to his left
05:12of course one thing we don't know is what conor quinn feels about tonight when he sat down with
05:16carl he said that he'd not really thought about what it's going to be like in this arena tonight
05:21until carl asked him the question it's a big fight top of the bill he's got a lot of things going on
05:27in his home city doesn't always follow that people take that in their stride that's right
05:34hidden pressures
05:41see that's a nice body shot there from quinn and that may be a good tactic to employ here
05:48against a moving boxer always they say to target the body to slow those feet down
05:54but you can see the reddening already um on conor kelso's left rib cage
06:01red patch there that's where that straight left hand has got home from quinn
06:10it's quite a mark
06:23here looks like the game plan for counsel is to box
06:29on the outside keep everything at range everything at distance not to let quinn get close
06:42yeah i mean it can be a very frustrating style to box against can't it
06:46um someone who constantly hits and moves who's on the back foot
06:51i always think it's sort of an old-fashioned way of boxing
06:54plenty of movement doesn't in the old days from a lot of the fighters
06:58and the main aim is probably to frustrate the opponent
07:03counsel is definitely doing
07:12this corner right now very encouraged by what they're saying
07:16because there's not been any real opportunity for conor quinn at this point to get close
07:21enough to do any kind of damage looks nice and confident in there right now conor kelso
07:36lotto land casino sponsors boxing on tnt sports
07:45hard right left do not there's more smashed it to argos
08:00lotto land casino sponsors boxing on tnt sports
08:06okay don't be too greedy as well keep it comfortable and ready for another game
08:16yes yeah he's having that jam all the time yeah nice and relaxed good boy yeah you're enjoying it
08:27that's a two-man team in there stephy bull and jason cunningham cunningham inside the ring stephy
08:32pull leading through the ropes i suppose that could be a good thing when you've got two sets
08:37of eyes looking at it but he's got a lot of information to take on board if two people
08:41are talking to him yes he has but um i think it was it was fairly calm in the corner wasn't a
08:45lot of experience in that corner and um there's a good bit of kidology as well before the end of
08:52the round you hear one of them says you're two up and that's literally that goes out to the judges
08:56as well if they think around is close and um i think that was clever by the corner there
09:04what do you say to conor quinn then here because he can't really get close enough to do his work
09:08has he got to be patient and wait for kelso to come for him how how much would he be determined
09:15maybe do too much to try and get close to him how is he going to control that couple of options he
09:20can target the body a little bit more and try and slow down the feet of kelso but clearly that you
09:26know that if he loses this round he could be three rounds down so he's got to do something different
09:30so like i said at the end of the first round he needs to change the tempo a little bit but not
09:35only with his hands with his feet he's got to probably put a little bit more pressure
09:39cut off the corners a little bit more cut off the ring space and so
09:44rather than following kelso around cut the ring space off but more injection of pace with the
09:49feet so doubling up the attacks and sustain the pressure a little bit more at the moment
09:54his feet are far too slow lots of praise and lots of applause coming from the kelso corner
10:03quinn's been here as a fan in the past he said he's been here to watch a carl frampton fight
10:07so tyson fury box here as well one thing that kelso's been able to do though he's taken the
10:12crowd out of it very quiet in here because he's been boxing on the outside not really
10:17let quinn get involved too much yet yeah i'll tell you what fletch he's certainly got to double up
10:23his attacks here quinn because i think the single attack counsel he's handling that so what he's
10:29got to be doing quinn is go once slight pause then go again even for a little sidestep in and go at
10:34a different angle but he's certainly got to go twice but at this pace again counsel he's handling
10:39things here yeah couldn't fight in counsel's fight at the moment he's being forced to and
10:43he's popping that jab out he seems to be growing in confidence the man from doncaster unbeaten
10:50remember both of them you'd say to this point which is 30 seconds to go in the third this is
11:02the way they planned it the council team before the opening bell tonight yes definitely quite the
11:09crowd movement is definitely definitely the key although there's not a lot getting home from
11:14kelso at the moment he's falling short with a bit of his work and quinn has definitely landed with
11:20some better body shots some solid shots it's been a better round for quinn for me you can hear the
11:26crowd whenever there's a modicum of success for connor quinn then the crowd inside this arena
11:31start to get into it but there's the bell to end the third

12:27well they're nice and calm in the connor quinn corner despite the fact that he might have lost
12:31the opening three rounds here
12:35here that they think is two round two one up that's what they said to him when he sat down
12:39i mean we were away it's a break but d walsh did say you're two one up at this point which
12:51quinn had his first two pro fights in brisbane and thailand but he's been here in belfast
12:56for his last seven counsel's always boxed in the north of england before crossing the irish sea
13:02for this big chance tonight one thing he does do richie carries his hands very low he's on the
13:07outside and out of range but if he can snap in there quickly connor quinn there's quite a target
13:12to aim at absolutely and he almost caught counsel there with that right hand over the top because of
13:19because of counsel drifting to the left with the low left hand and that's what he's got if he gets
13:25complacent quinn's just got to time that right hand counter and whip it over the top he almost
13:30caught him with it just earlier on as the rounds go on flex that's why you may target there quinn
13:39you naturally slow down especially in the 12 round contest but also you know you can
13:44occasionally just switch off mentally and that's what quinn will be hoping for
13:56yes
14:12both jason cunningham and stephy bull as he got a few jabs to land there as well scoring shots
14:21steadily and solidly piling up the points here connor council
14:25oh
14:32clever boxer on the outside but there's a pattern to it what he's doing he works with the jab then
14:37all of a sudden when he's had a couple of good shots he goes back to the safety distance he
14:41goes out of punching range and he has a little look and that's what quinn's got to deny him that
14:46so when he goes back to that space to have a little look at what he's done that's when he's
14:50got to force the pressure and quicken the feet watch went the way council boxes he hits he moves
14:56has a little look his feet come together see his feet come together there that's when you've got
15:01to go for him when he when he just sits back to admire his work
15:20oh he's clearly pleased by his work to this stage
15:35and there's another round that's followed a familiar path
15:42lotto land casino sponsors boxing on tnt sports
15:50hard right left do not there's more smashed it to argos
16:06lotto land casino sponsors boxing on tnt sports start doing a little bit hands a little higher
16:13from your shoulders let your back hand go and your hook after yeah just relax though you're
16:18doing good but you've got to be winning the rounds mate this is fifth round coming up yeah
16:26do you feel like it's easy so you've got to do a little bit more with you
16:36they just said to him while you were away that he's three one up which is probably realistic
16:43when you think about the way that it's gone it's not a shutout by any stretch of the imagination
16:46but he has got a lead but jason cunningham made the point you're overseas as far as he's concerned
16:52you've got to win it convincingly you're not going to get a close one here that was the
16:55point that was being made to him yes that's right that's a good point actually
17:00and um they literally want you probably to do a little bit more but like i say he's just
17:06going to watch um if quinn switches on to that little skip he does he hits with the jab then
17:11he moves off he skips he brings his feet together has a little look at what he's done and to plan
17:15his neck there it was there look that's his next attack and that's when you've got to go through
17:19conor quinn he's got to step on the gas then it's been quite a story for conor quinn he failed a
17:25brain scan and he didn't think he was going to be able to fight again but he transpired
17:30he got a hole in his heart which led to the scan when they operated and fixed the hole in his heart
17:37he was then able to box again because apparently when you've had that surgery you're at no greater
17:41risk than anybody else so it took two and a half years it was a long journey for him so the fact
17:46that he's even in here tonight fighting for this commonwealth flyweight title is a testament to a
17:52lot of factors incredible story really fletch but he's come through it and yes he's here
18:00challenging for a title
18:04it also shows he's a natural fighter but he's got to work out this
18:07awkward customer from doncaster conor council
18:13see the timing just needed to be a little closer with that shot there that right hand wasn't too
18:17far away we spoke about it before that right hand over the top he's got to get the timing
18:22but i just don't think throwing the shot he's got to do that with probably a little bit of
18:27foot movement as well just quicken the feet up and then whip it over that's good work though
18:32from council nice solid right hand at the end of the combination then he gets back on his bike again
18:37and start to dance around the ring once more like i said he's controlling the pace here
18:42on the council boxing to his tempo his pace and that's why i think queen has got to disrupt that
18:50rhythm
19:05the body of council certainly the easiest target isn't it
19:11the council corner continue to be very encouraging towards their man
19:15he's pleased by what they're seeing from him in there 20 seconds to go in the
19:20it's a long fight though scheduled for 12 they are eventually going to get a lot closer together
19:24these two could be a typical case of hair in the tortoise here at the moment
19:32kelso you know he's winning the rounds he's controlling things the movement's good
19:38the odd sign from queen but again i think that's a council round
19:42uh
20:04we'll get them closer yeah man and then stop bringing it on their body and bring
20:07hit him if you need to exert so we want it yeah okay start pausing and put the back up
20:12yeah get in boom boom
20:27okay
20:35nice and calm in the quinn corner right now just on connor council he says that if he can win
20:41tonight ritchie it would be life-changing for him he's a dad of two he's a bar manager
20:47in connorsborough at the white lady and he's got all kinds on the line for himself tonight as well
20:52i mean it's it's such a big evening for the pair of them yeah i bet they're all watching back at
20:56the back at the pub as well if they are drinks on rich i think he said stick his card behind the bar
21:08six round approaching the halfway point commonwealth flyweight title on the line
21:13fight has been boxed at distance so far a fight has been controlled by the way that
21:19connor council wants to go about it the challenge here the big challenge for the belfast man connor
21:24quinn is to close the gap and get a lot closer they wanted to throw more punches which was quite
21:29clear from d walsh between rounds despite the fact that it was a very low-key conversation
21:34between trainer and fighter i mean quinn's got a fairly fast hands but
21:39for me what's letting down tonight up to this stage anyway is his foot his movement is moving
21:46with his feet it's too slow he's got to be quicker he'll be more a little bit more dynamic
21:51they've got the ring space off a little bit better than what he's doing now he's got to go again you
21:55see there was an example just a single attack he needed to probably go again and sustain the
22:00pressure a little bit more i think the fascinating thing is sometimes you can see a fighter box like
22:09this and they eventually run out of steam but it's his pace that he's setting council isn't
22:13so he should be able to do this for quite some time yeah exactly
22:23suits him suits his style and he's not taking a lot out of him to be quite honest
22:29he's a fairly got a fairly relaxed guard he's just got to keep switched on he doesn't walk
22:33onto a shot that's it now he's got to go again that's when he needed to to work again quinn
22:38the attack so there are songs there from conor quinn
22:42kelso again start oh that was nice yeah sharper work again from kelso getting the
22:47veteran of the exchanges when they do have them inside the final minute of the sixth round
22:56the eye-catching work in there though being done by kelso
23:08there you go
23:28it's been a really confident round this from kelso he's got that spring back in his step again
23:32yeah when he says that quimmy may be got in the tempo then he just seems to go to another gear
23:41and he increases that movement again so let's bring in carl france who sat not too far away
23:47from us watching this carl how are you seeing it yeah i have it i have it a little bit closer
23:51than richie has but i have kills kills all in front here i think that he's controlling the
23:56rounds by doing very little he's not he's not landing a lot of shots a lot of shots are hitting
24:01gloves but i think it's a lack of what conor quinn is doing is a learn kelso to just be nicking
24:08these rounds if you're in the queen corner what's the message then get closer he has to get closer
24:14the pace needs to be higher he's getting into a good position where he's throwing a double jab
24:19and there's no right hand coming after it he needs to let that right hand go and then attack again
24:23he's landed and he needs to go again he's not doing that i didn't think it'd be this quiet in
24:27here for this fight no i didn't counsel's got about it he's taking the crowd out absolutely
24:32yeah and i think he is in control at the minute thank you carl
24:43so into the second half of the fight we would suspect that conor kelso has the lead i mean we
24:48don't know the way the judges are seeing it but that would be my feeling sat here that
24:52there's more work for quinn to do in the second half of the fight yeah i think so
24:57but like you say some judges see differently and may prefer the work from conor quinn
25:05up to this stage for me i think conor kelso has controlled things fairly comfortably
25:13kelso's got the distance in his last six fights his last two were low-key four-rounders in barnsley
25:18and rotherham and here he is tonight fighting for the commonwealth strap in this sse arena
25:25in belfast against a local man and he's stuck to the plan and done what he needs to do to this point
25:39smile on the face of conor quinn showboating from council
25:44up
25:58he rarely gets on the ropes so he boxes in ring space that's his strength so he's got full range
26:04of movement so you've got to try and deny him that that's why quinn's got to box at a quicker
26:09faster tempo higher work rate you know double up the attacks and push him back and try and get him
26:15onto the ropes make him come square with the feet he's obviously well schooled his council
26:20he's hitting and he's moving he knows his strengths but you've got to deny him that that space that
26:25that he's using here and you do that by stepping on the gas sustaining the pressure and going for it
26:33and try and push council back to the ropes it's been a really effective game plan to this point
26:39for council together by jason cunningham and stephy ball he's carrying it out for the letter
26:47and he's been able to box the fight that suits him to this point
26:52quinn on the second half of the fight needs to get closer needs to land more shots and needs to
26:56change the rhythm of this fight because at the moment council is just dancing around the ring
27:00in there as carl frankson said he's controlling a lot of rounds without throwing too many shots
27:05and he's not landing a great deal council
27:12see that jab there just hitting the gloves that's a better shot he got closer that time and landed
27:17the right hand to be honest though he gets straight back on his feet last three shots of his own
27:28three a bit repetitive the way that's why he keeps moving off to the right occasionally
27:34which is a good thing to do
27:39council when he drifts around to the left that's when he could get caught with that right arm
27:44that's why you see him just change the direction of movement
27:47so
28:01building on it yeah offset both ways you can't get near you he's going to get frustrated yeah
28:05we'll have a little bit more still and i want to get back in a bit more as well yeah the double
28:08jumper can't hold the one two boom off you go again easy job yeah okay you know what to do man
28:14yeah let's keep this going can't afford to get switched up stay focused enjoying it yeah
28:21connor after this round it's a four round fight an amateur fight after this yeah
28:27win easier just open up a little bit more with your back hand so
28:31yeah you can't miss him with your jab but just
28:34desperately
28:42well that's the way that carl's got it a four-point lead at this stage for connor counsel
28:51another challenge facing connor quinn richie is this is the first time that he's been into the
28:55eighth round of the fight kelso's got the experience of going longer having been 10
28:59rounds twice yes not only is he behind and finding it difficult to land a serious shot
29:04but he's also now into alien territory in terms of the distance yes indeed but it's also going to
29:10be a test a big test for connor council to keep this up for the 12 rounds because apart from those
29:16210 rounds as he's done in english title fights the rest of his contests have been over four rounds
29:22so he's not really that experienced and certainly he's never done a trial rounder can he keep this
29:27going because the movement flex is crucial for him here do you think that's why stephy bull
29:31mentioned the forearm fight after this one absolutely yes absolutely he's got that into
29:36his head you see so psychologically then he's thinking i've only got to go four rounds i feel
29:40good you know but if his feet slow down then it's a totally different um contest indeed yeah we don't
29:46know what he's going to be like if he takes the power of quinn because it just hasn't happened
29:51he's been light on his feet good movement up on his toes
29:56oh there haven't been any moments of concern really for council
30:10again there's a lot more shots coming from council but they're not
30:14the target as i say that that was a belter yeah really good right now
30:17yeah a lot of his jabs they were missing the falling short
30:22in the crowd so he's calling out and making a lot of noise about the way he's boxing but again
30:29that jab there fell short missed the target
30:32oh
30:43that draws applause from the quinn corner
30:48so
31:03yeah you can hear the crowd starting to get into it now and he's just starting to do things a little
31:07bit quicker isn't it chasing down a little bit with a bit more purpose yeah he's just
31:13in the public council he's slowing down a little bit
31:19amazingly there is still one or two chapters to write in this commonwealth flyweight title
31:24fight which has been a cruise really in many ways for comic council but
31:30quinn starts to get closer the whole picture could change
31:34in this room he's just starting to realize that
31:36he's quinn and he has managed to get closer in this room
31:40so a couple of instances here there was that right hand from connor castle that was his best
32:07punch of the round but quinn himself i thought got closer in this round probably more than any
32:13other in this contest there was an example there of council just missing with the jab
32:18there's been plenty of them but it's the movements on the outside that's causing the problem
32:23this is easy for you do a little bit more and what do you mean by a little bit more not so much
32:29like your tools and yeah you're breaking his army come on yeah you've done he's had his power
32:38and he's going to chase you to be on around nine no dash shots to switch stuff do you know i think
32:43that's a really good phrase that step people just you've done his head in and i think he probably
32:47has to this point yeah to frustrate the opponents and and obviously make him come forward and
32:54they're confident then they'll bring him on to more shots but i think quinn has again he's got
33:00to change it so he's got to come forward but he's got to do with faster feet and put him under a
33:05little bit more pressure but that council corner they're quite confident if he does come forward
33:11and it may present him with more opportunities to learn some shots and they're now into that
33:15four-hour fight that they were talking about after this one they said prior to the eighth
33:19it's a four-rounder to the finish so round nine the challenge remains to connor quinn
33:30to start getting close enough to put his punches together and the signs were there in the last
33:35round quinn was starting to get to grips with it he's moving his feet a little bit quicker like he
33:40is now he realizes that he can't be giving him time and space on the outside he's got to close
33:45that gap a little bit more and he's starting to do it finally
33:57that's better from quinn made council miss and then made him play with a two-punch combination
34:01but he's quickly back on his toes again the man from doncaster and on the move
34:10it's a really good point you made earlier you know i can't recall a point
34:14in this fight where either of them were on the right everything's good for pretty much
34:17incentive that's right and that's mainly because of council that is his movement circular so he's
34:23been well schooled this style of boxing there's no way you know there's no advantage at all if
34:28you're back on the road so it's a totally disadvantage so that's why he's centering
34:33ring space that's his strength he's got full range of movement
34:40a bit more than a minute to go in the night
34:42that was a minute ago
34:56and you just get the sense now flex that council in this round his feet have just slowed slightly
35:03and he's got all he's got to keep a fast tempo with those feet he's got to keep moving
35:08if quinn senses that then he could catch him with a shot and then put on a bit more pressure
35:12so there's a psychological game in there as well as well as the physical side of it
35:19good left from connor could of course there's the added
35:23aspect of a championship distance fight as well a 12 round fight which
35:28neither of them have ever experienced who knows what it'll feel like at 11 and 12 yeah absolutely
35:34see there's that little skip again from kelso he works then he goes back he brings his feet
35:38together he goes back on the outside quinn's got to switch on to that and step on the gas when he
35:45does that
35:54a punch of air in celebration at the end of that one
35:57from connor kelso
36:02okay
36:14can i see it
36:32okay
36:49one of the teams said there that he thought that connor quinn had won the last three rounds i'm
36:53not necessarily sure that's the case that's the way that carl's got it he's got quinn winning two
36:58of the last three so it's certainly tightening things up on carl's card just a couple of rounds
37:03in it with three to go the way he's seeing it i think i've got one more round um for kelso
37:11very similar sort of scoring a lot of these rounds though are getting closer and closer
37:17so um yeah it's maybe it's maybe carl score or one more who knows but it is it is closing that i
37:25don't think over the head fletch yeah that gap is closing down yeah it is and they did make the
37:30point before he came out for this one the 10th round he needs the last three so wise advice
37:36from the quinn corner now can he build some momentum or can kelso
37:41continue to do what he's done really well to this point of the fight
37:48um
38:08we also have to make the point as we always do carl's card is unofficial yeah three men that
38:13matter lee every terry o'connor a new russell jr they're the judges and it's the way they're
38:19seeing the fight that matters we're only a guy at this point a good shot by kelso solid
38:30good response from quinn to the body
38:43hey
38:57it is a division that really stirs the passions in this city they love the flyweights in belfast
39:14and damien kelly of course yeah he was a british combat and european champion i think at flyweight
39:20he was a cracking fighter final stage is here at the 10th round of quinn trying to get close
39:26doubling up the jab
39:43so big shoes to fill it's a close round this one yeah it is close close round in what's getting a
39:50closer fight well let's bring in carl thompson car just looking at your card prior to the start
40:02of this round you just got it tightening up yeah i had to take that up and i think i just give that
40:06round to kelso but it was it was a close round there's a lot of a lot of rounds that have been
40:10close and difficult to score i think it just it just looks like kelso is in control by flicking
40:16out the job not really landing a lot but it just looks like he's controlling around
40:23quinn needs to get closer he needs to work harder and i'm hoping there's a bit more urgency from the
40:28corner here and to tell him like there's a chance you can't win this but you need to win the next
40:32two rounds yeah good point thanks carl i mean that they kind of half went there in between the last
40:38round didn't they when they said look you've won the last three but you need the next three
40:41maybe you got that one maybe carl's got him three behind the two to go so that means he needs a big
40:46finish if the judges are seeing it that way as well but he has just got to come out now really
40:51chase him down and throw shots if he wants to turn this around quinn yes he has because i agree with
40:56carl in that last round kelso just did enough to win that one maybe edge further ahead so let's
41:03see there needs to be just a touch more urgency from connor quinn now yeah two to go as we mentioned
41:10that before tonight quinn had never been into the eighth or kelso's never been into the 11th
41:16so uncharted territory for the pair of them now there's still a spring in the stride and step
41:22of connor kelso yeah there is
41:26is
41:42he seems there were slight indications a couple of rounds ago that he was getting closer
41:48to connor kelso but again he's sort of reverted back to that pattern of holding the feet
41:54a little bit too slow and again he's got to add more pressure here for me
42:04it's been a decent opening minute to the 11th round for connor kelso
42:12and kelso again he's just controlling the pace and fletch which is important to him
42:19come on two and three
42:21oh that's better you see from quinn the injection the pace that he's needed
42:25picking things up a little bit i think the point that carl made is quite significant
42:29the fact that it just looks like kelso's doing more it looks like kelso's in control
42:34like we've said a lot of the shots on it in the target from kelso but he's a little bit
42:40throwing out those jabs
42:49still a boy's toes the man from doncaster chasing this commonwealth flyweight title
42:55um
43:16i'm just a little bit surprised that we're not seeing more urgency from quinn
43:20yes yes i totally agree like i said there were signs a few rounds ago to get closer and we thought
43:27he's going to be like this is it now he's going to step on the gas he's going to try and get up
43:31to kelso but he's just reverted back to that slow style center the ring just following him around
43:37really very flat-footed either he's not able to do it or the internal computer's not telling him
43:43that it's time to put the foot on the gas exactly and he's not really had that instruction from the
43:46corner as he to to really go out and push and try and push kelso back that's a decent combination
43:53from quinn though towards the end of the round whether it's enough to get it for him that's better too
44:02and there's the bell so there's one to go and kelso you can see he thinks he's in control of
44:09commonwealth champion sit back listen listen right he best close your eyes yeah suck it up
44:15i need another leather back and go mate this is your last round to be champion
44:23go around that ring with your fucking hands up and champion yeah listen to me
44:28keeps he's on the file he's a bit desperate now look at it he's coming out playing so be switched
44:32on when you make your wish you make your pay your fucking class
44:36do you feel good you're doing brilliant do you feel like a champion because you
44:40are fire that gum shield get a part of that school yeah come on three minutes
44:55it's pretty low key in there all the way through with stephy bulls having the time of his life
44:59this is the outside there he feels that you know he's looking i mean that's carl frampton scorecard
45:10that's the feeling basically in that corner council corner yeah he's just got to get through
45:14this last round so final round 12th round commonwealth flyweight title on the line
45:22connor quinn of belfast connor kelso of doncaster carl frampton's got a four-point lead at this
45:28point for counsel who's controlled the fight from the outside can quinn get close enough
45:34in this last round and land some hurtful meaningful punches that could turn it around in his favor
45:40unofficial we reiterate that again the judges are the men that matter lee every terry o'connor
45:46hugh russell jr and it looks as though there's still plenty in the tank of council who's coming
45:52in tremendous condition again just being allowed to work at his tempo his case
46:00on the outside there up on his toes that's a little bit better than quinn
46:08again that fast jump from council is not really hitting the target
46:17it's how the judges are going to see this isn't it basically
46:23a lot of the rounds have been close fletch
46:26i have to agree with carl i think counsel's ahead here i don't think there's ever been a dominant
46:30round for either of them it will be surprising again quinn is just back to that same sort of
46:36tempo and pace center the ring get flatfooted
46:40surely he's got the thing that he needs this last round even if he thinks he's ahead just to make
46:45sure maybe they think that they're winning the contest i'm a bit surprised at that because for me
46:53yeah most people call just to the side of us thinks it because he's ahead i agree with him also
47:04counseling still up on his toes bouncing up and down dancing in and out popping out the jam
47:09final minute feels like quinn needs something big can he find it can he get close enough to
47:15deliver it we know he's got the power he stopped people in the past but he's never landed a shot
47:20that's ever really made council think about it
47:24he's never really stepped on the gas as he undoubtedly attack and push
47:28council back to the ropes that we suggested earlier in the contest
47:35just a little bit surprised by the lack of urgency all round
47:39yeah from quinn himself but also from the corner too it's been very low key
47:43as though he's in complete control of things they've been more animated and agitated in the
47:48council corner and it feels like he's ahead look at him now that's not going to go down well in
47:54here i mean quinn can smile but my advice would be to go and get after him
48:00he also feels that he's done it he's done enough to win the contest
48:03and there's the final bell what a farcical bizarre end to the fight
48:13well quinn's lifted into the air by d walsh and kelso's done a quick lap of honor here
48:19punching the air yeah incredible scenes in that corner they i mean they're really really
48:24confident that they've done enough and and kelso there that last 30 or 40 seconds just
48:29on his bike on the outside i think i've won this i don't need to do anymore yeah a little
48:35bit surprising from quinn that there wasn't any tempo change throughout the contest at all
48:40from him maybe the corner thinking that um he was winning we'll soon find out won't we whether
48:45they're right or wrong but still i thought i expected quinn to probably come out in that last
48:50round and try and cement something but no it was all the same tempo nothing changed at all
48:58i mean they seem quite confident in the quinn corner i mean like maybe we
49:02missed something here i don't know but i mean they they seem calm it's quite serene over there
49:08they seem like they think they've done everything i mean we paid steffi bulls
49:14like it's hard on his sleeve hasn't he in the kelso corner we'll soon find out won't we
49:21whether they were that confident in that corner that they're going to get it
49:25we'll soon find out but this is the corner that for me that's confident yeah
49:30kelso continues to walk around the ring and celebrate the judges are lee every
49:33terry o'connor and hugh russell jr the cards are being collected thomas tribe is working everything
49:39out jason cummingham there in conversation with connor quinn a nice embrace between the two fighters
49:55let's have a quick look at carl frampton's final card so he's got it 116 113 gave connor quinn the
50:02final round i mean the point you'd make when you look at that that feels about right but you'd also
50:08say a lot of those rounds are difficult to score based on the way you see it so let's find out then
50:13is it connor quinn is it connor kelso the man who knows is mc thomas triver
50:17ladies and gentlemen after 12 rounds of boxing we go to the judges scorecards judge lee every
50:30scores it 114 to 114 even a draw judge terry o'connor scores it 115 to 114 and judge hugh
50:44russell jr scores it 116 to 112 both in favor of your winner by majority decision still undefeated
50:57and now the commonwealth flyweight champion connor king
51:05kills all well connor counsel gets a majority decision victory lee every had it all square at
51:13114 114 terry o'connor 115 114 in kelso's favor and then hugh russell jr slightly
51:22wider and that feels more accurate 116 112 richie yeah i think so i think
