00:00It is possible to reduce it, but flooding in Metro Manila cannot be avoided, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways.
00:08That is even after the flood control master plan approved in 2012.
00:13As of now, more than half of the flood control projects have not yet been implemented, more than a decade has passed.
00:19In the first two years of the Marcos administration, more than 5,000 flood control projects were completed by the DPWH,
00:25some of which were continued by previous administrations.
00:29In Apulong, President Bongbong Marcos was with the DPWH, who did not go home empty-handed.
00:34The flood control projects and the Php 2 billion fund of the MMDA were completed.
00:42In Ondoy, the floodwaters stayed in Metro Manila for more than two weeks.
00:47We can see that the floodwaters have receded quite faster than Ondoy.
00:54The President ordered the 70 percent of the drainage system in Metro Manila to be repaired immediately due to debris and whitewater.
