Countries under orange alert as heatwave continues across Europe

Spain, Romania and Greece are a few of the countries battling this summer's extreme temperatures.

00:00Extreme heat continues to scorch Europe, with nine municipalities across Spain under orange
00:07warnings for high temperatures.
00:11According to Spain's meteorological agency, the hottest region is expected to be Andalusia,
00:18where the temperature is set to rise to 42 degrees in the provinces of Granada and Jaen.
00:24Romania is also suffering from an ongoing heat wave, with temperatures expected to exceed
00:3040 degrees in the second half of the week.
00:35Meanwhile, wildfires are spreading in Greece, Albania, North Macedonia and Croatia.
00:42Evacuation orders are in place in several Greek regions, and firefighters spent the
00:47night battling a blaze on the island of Evia.
00:52Wildfires in Albania and North Macedonia are threatening many residential areas, and
00:57in Croatia, firefighters are attempting to control a huge blaze near the town of Skradin.
01:03The extreme heat is emanating from a large mass of hot air which has travelled across
01:08the Mediterranean from North Africa and brought with it dust from the desert.
01:14In Portugal, people have been urged to limit outdoor activity and keep their windows closed
01:19where possible, owing to the poor air quality.
