00:22Who wouldn't be impressed by the beautiful and so-called last frontier of Cordillera,

00:27the province of Apayao?

00:28That's why in the 36th session of the International Coordinating Council of the Man and the Biosphere Program

00:34of UNESCO or United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization

00:38held in Agadir, Morocco, Apayao was declared as one of the newest UNESCO Biosphere Reserves.

00:44We are really excited and happy because our province's natural resources are recognized.

00:51But do you know how important it is to be included in the list of the most prestigious?

00:56Kuya Kim, what is it?

00:59The Biosphere Reserve is an important place of the United Nations that serves as a learning place for sustainable development

01:05because there is unity or harmony between the environment and the people who live here.

01:10Here in the Philippines, UNESCO declared four places as Biosphere Reserve.

01:14The province of Palawan, the town of Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro,

01:18the province of Albay in Bicol, and the province of Apayao in Cordillera.

01:22According to the local government of Apayao, in 2018, they started their pit for the Biosphere Reserve

01:27after discovering the first active nest or nest of the Philippine Eagle in the Rizon Valley.

01:32This collaborative effort includes the Philippine Eagle Foundation and the DNR.

01:38Because of this recognition, some parts of the province are now protected for biodiversity conservation.

01:44In order to preserve the biodiversity of Apayao,

01:47we must implement strict regulations for the conservation of our natural resources in our province.
