Hot weather alert for Paris Olympics
Highs of 36 degrees Celsius (96.8 degrees Fahrenheit) are expected in Paris on Tuesday (July 30) as the world's best athletes compete in the Summer Games.
Experts warned that while Monday, July 29, brought warm weather spiking at around 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), temperatures of more than 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Celsius) could start to affect athletes.
Paris 2024 said there are around 1,200 water cooler and mist fountains sprinkled around the city to help spectators and tourists cool off and stay hydrated.
Organizers have also said they are confident Monday's hot weather will help lower the bacteria count in the River Seine sufficiently for the triathlon competition to proceed.
