00:00And Will, so you're always going to be Mr. Brightside.
00:03OK, that's my nickname for you.
00:05No matter what, you're Mr. Brightside.
00:08But there is some doom and gloom signs
00:11when I look at just starting pitching and relief pitching.
00:15You look at Cutter Crawford, he can't
00:17stop giving up home runs.
00:18You look at Tanner Hawk, it seems
00:21like there may be some fatigue with him,
00:23and especially some control issues.
00:25Do you see it the same way, or do you
00:28feel like these guys are just getting tired and beat up,
00:31or do you think this is just post-All-Star break reaction?
00:36Coming out of my cage, and I'll be doing just fine.
00:38I mean, I do, look, I really, it's
00:41hard not to agree with what you're saying.
00:42And Hawk was alarming.
00:44I mean, it's sort of like a double-edged sword, right?
00:46He didn't have his stuff at all last night,
00:48and he still goes six innings and gives up three runs.
00:51But the stuff is not as good, and Crawford
00:52is a problem right now, too.
00:54And I guess that's where, midway through the game yesterday,
00:58you do start to think about, like,
01:01maybe the Red Sox need even more pitching
01:03than we thought they did.
01:04And that's where it starts to get a little bit more
01:06difficult to envision them getting maybe everything
01:09that they need right now.
01:11Because, I mean, eight times since the All-Star break,
01:14after the eighth inning, they've blown the lead.
01:16Think about that.
01:17That's almost impossible to do.
01:19Since the break, eight leads blown after the eighth inning.
01:22So they've needed bullpen help for a week now.
01:26And I really wish that they could have gone out
01:29and gotten a couple arms.
01:30They probably would have won two or three more of these games.
01:32But again, I just think the cost was prohibitive before we
01:36get closer to the deadline.
01:37But yeah, I guess the perfect situation, guys,
01:41is that Martin and Slayton, who Alex told us yesterday,
01:43they're coming back.
01:44They're working into their throwing routine.
01:47They get healthy.
01:47Liam Hendricks comes into the fold.
01:50And so maybe if he can add a bullpen arm or two,
01:52and then all of those guys get healthy,
01:55then you've got enough.
01:56But I still think you need a starter or two in addition
01:59to James Paxton.
02:00And it'll just be a matter of whether they can do that or not.
