The former WA Nationals leader defended the live sheep export industry to much applause.

00:00We feel that deeply in our minds that our government can do something like this to people that simply try to get on with the job of doing the very best they can.
00:09With very minimal support or subsidisation from our state and federal governments,
00:13we are, as we've heard on the previous panel, some of the most efficient pilots in the world.
00:19And it's unfathomable to me that you can make a decision on politics or ideologies that are based on assignments.
00:26The industry, in the past, may have felt that there was little favour, and we need to get better at telling our story.
00:32Our think and think-a-sheet campaign, the way that we talk about it through the Lifestyle Collective,
00:37these are things that are positive for our industry, to make sure that we're presenting our best face forward,
00:43and the future of farming and agriculture, because it's so exciting.
00:47But this is a plank of so many of our farming businesses, and then the flow and impact of that into the supply chain,
00:56it will have a serious impact at a farm level, at a small business level,
01:03and then it will flow into, as we've seen in other areas, our health services, our education services,
01:09all of those communities will be a touchpoint for Mary and Ben.
01:13It's just a fundamental, and so very common, and so they won't stop feeding, because it's just unfair.
