00:00Today, we have come to you with the story of 16th Sombar Vrat.
00:04Once, Lord Shiva went on a journey with Parvati to Amravati Nagar of Mrityulok.
00:12The king of that city had built a huge temple of Lord Shiva.
00:17Shiva and Parvati started living in that temple.
00:20One day, Parvati said to Lord Shiva,
00:24O Pranath, today I feel like playing Chausar.
00:28Knowing Parvati's wish, Shiva went to play Chausar with Parvati.
00:33As soon as the game started, the priest of that temple came there.
00:37Mother Parvati asked the priest,
00:40O priest, tell me who will win this game?
00:45The Brahmin said, Mahadevji.
00:48But Shiva lost in Chausar.
00:50And Mother Parvati won.
00:53At that time, Shiva cursed the Brahmin to become a Kauri.
00:58Shiva and Parvati returned to Kailash Parvat from that temple.
01:02Due to Parvati's curse, the priest became a Kauri.
01:06The women and men of the city also started staying away from the priest's shadow.
01:11Some people complained to the king that the priest became a Kauri.
01:15So, the king thought that the priest became a Kauri due to some sin and got him out of the temple.
01:21Instead, he made another Brahmin a priest.
01:24The Kauri priest sat outside the temple and begged.
01:28After many days, some Apsaras of Swarglok came to that temple.
01:32And asked the reason for becoming a Kauri.
01:36The priest told them the story of playing Chausar with Shiva and Parvati.
01:41And also the story of Parvati's curse.
01:44Then the Apsaras asked the priest to observe a fast on 16th Monday.
01:49When the priest asked them how to perform the fast, the Apsaras said,
01:52On Monday, before sunrise, get up, take a bath, wear clean clothes,
01:59and make three parts of wheat flour.
02:03Then light a ghee lamp, and take jaggery, nevidya, velpatra, sandalwood, akshat, flowers, and janeu.
02:11During the pradosh kaal, worship Lord Shiva.
02:16After worship, offer one part of the three parts to Lord Shiva, and take one.
02:22Consider the rest as God's prasadam, and distribute it to the women, men, and children present there.
02:29While performing the fast in this way, when 16th Monday passes,
02:33on 17th Monday, make a bowl of wheat flour, mix ghee and jaggery in it, and make churma.
02:40Then offer it to Lord Shiva, and distribute the prasadam to the women, men, and children present there.
02:46In this way, by observing the fast on 16th Monday,
02:50Lord Shiva will destroy your curse and fulfill all your wishes.
02:56Saying this, the Apsaras went to heaven.
02:59According to the story of the Apsaras, the priest observed the fast on 16th Monday.
03:05By the grace of Lord Shiva, his curse was destroyed.
03:09The king made him the priest of the temple again.
03:12He started living happily by worshipping Lord Shiva in the temple.
03:18After a few days, while walking around the earth again, Lord Shiva and Parvati came to the temple.
03:25Seeing the healthy priest, Parvati was surprised and asked the reason for his illness.
03:31The priest told her the whole story of the 16th Monday fast.
03:34Parvati was also very happy to hear about the fast.
03:38She asked the priest about the procedure and started the 16th Monday fast herself.
03:43Parvati was very worried about her son Kartikeya going far away in those days.
03:50She had tried many ways to bring back Kartikeya.
03:54But Kartikeya was not coming back to her.
03:58While doing the 16th Monday fast, Parvati prayed to Lord Shiva to bring back Kartikeya.
04:05On the third day after the fast, Kartikeya really came back.
04:10Kartikeya asked Parvati about his change of heart.
04:14Hey mother, what was the remedy that destroyed my anger and I came back?
04:21Then Parvati told Kartikeya the story of the 16th Monday fast.
04:26Kartikeya was very sad about his Brahmin friend Brahmadatta's departure.
04:31To bring him back, Kartikeya did the 16th Monday fast and prayed to Brahmadatta to come back.
04:39After a few days of the fast, the friend came back.
04:43The Brahmin asked Kartikeya,
04:45Dear friend, what was the remedy that changed my thoughts in the foreign?
04:52And I came back remembering you.
04:55Kartikeya also told his friend the story of the 16th Monday fast.
05:00The Brahmin friend was very happy to hear about the fast.
05:03He also did the fast.
05:05After completing the 16th Monday fast, Brahmadatta set out on a foreign journey.
05:10There, the king of the city, Harshvardhan's daughter, Princess Gunjan, was getting married.
05:16The king of the city had sworn that he would marry the girl to the girl who would wear a handkerchief.
05:24The Brahmin also went to the Utsuptavash palace.
05:26There, the princes of many states were sitting.
05:29One day, a handkerchief-wearing Hathini came there with a garland in her hand.
05:33Hathini put the garland around the neck of the Brahmin.
05:36Suddenly, the princess got married to the Brahmin.
05:40One day, his wife asked,
05:42O dear friend, what good deed did you do that Hathini left the princes and put the garland around your neck?
05:50The Brahmin told the method of the 16th Monday fast.
05:53Knowing the importance of the 16th Monday fast from his husband, the princess did the 16th Monday fast on the wish of her son.
06:01At the right time, by the grace of Lord Shiva, the princess gave birth to a beautiful, well-behaved and healthy son.
06:08The son was named Gopal.
06:11When he grew up, his son Gopal also asked his mother one day,
06:15Why did I take birth in your house?
06:19Mother Gunjan told her son about the 16th Monday fast.
06:23Knowing the importance of the fast, Gopal also decided to fast.
06:27When Gopal was 16 years old, he did the 16th Monday fast on the wish of getting the kingdom.
06:34After the fast was over, Gopal went to a nearby town to travel.
06:39The old king there liked Gopal.
06:42And he married his daughter, Princess Mangala, to Gopal with great pomp and show.
06:49By fasting on the 16th Monday, Gopal reached the palace and started living happily.
06:54Two years later, the old king passed away.
06:57So Gopal was made the king of that town.
07:00In this way, by fasting on the 16th Monday, Gopal's desire to get the kingdom was fulfilled.
07:06Even after becoming a king, he continued to fast on the 16th Monday.
07:10At the end of the fast, on the 17th Monday, Gopal told his wife Mangala,
07:15that by taking all the items of the fast, he reached the nearby Shiva temple.
07:19By breaking the husband's order, he sent the items of worship to the temple by the servants.
07:25He did not go to the temple himself.
07:27When the king completed the worship of Lord Shiva, then Akashvani said,
07:31O King! Your queen has disobeyed the 16th Monday fast.
07:36So remove the queen from the palace. Otherwise, all your wealth will be destroyed.
07:41Hearing Akashvani, he immediately reached the palace and ordered his soldiers
07:46to leave the queen far away in a city.
07:49The soldiers obeyed the king's order and immediately threw her out of the house.
07:54The hungry and thirsty queen started wandering in that city.
07:57The queen found an old woman in that city.
08:00That old woman was going to cut the thread and sell it in the market.
08:03But the thread was not coming out of that old woman.
08:06The old woman said to the queen,
08:08Daughter, if you pick up my thread and send it to the market,
08:12and help me sell the thread, then I will give you money.
08:16The queen listened to the old woman.
08:18But as soon as the queen touched the thread, there was a strong storm.
08:23And by opening the thread, all the thread flew away in the storm.
08:26The old woman tore it and threw it away.
08:29While walking, the queen reached the house of a tailor.
08:33That tailor pitied the queen and asked her to stay at home.
08:36But then, due to the wrath of Lord Shiva,
08:39the pots filled with the tailor's oil started breaking one by one.
08:43The tailor also threw him away.
08:45The hungry and thirsty queen walked ahead from there.
08:49The queen drank water on a river and wanted to quench her thirst.
08:53Then the water of the river dried up from her touch.
08:56The queen, cursing her fate, walked ahead.
08:59While walking, the queen reached a jungle.
09:02There was a pond in that jungle.
09:04It was filled with pure water.
09:06Seeing the pure water, the queen's thirst increased.
09:10To drink the water, the queen climbed down the stairs of the pond.
09:13As soon as she touched the water, innumerable insects appeared in that water.
09:18The queen, being sad, drank that dirty water and quenched her thirst.
09:23The queen sat in the shade of a tree and wanted to rest for a while.
09:28Then the leaves of that tree dried up in a moment and scattered.
09:31The queen sat under another tree.
09:33The tree under which she sat, dried up.
09:36Seeing the state of the forest and the lake, the goals there were very surprised.
09:41The goals took the queen to the priest in the nearby temple.
09:45Looking at the queen's face, the priest realized that the queen is definitely from a rich family.
09:50Due to her fate, she is wandering aimlessly.
09:53The priest told the queen,
09:55Daughter, you don't worry.
09:57Stay with me in this temple.
10:00Everything will be fine in a few days.
10:02The priest's words gave the queen a lot of peace.
10:06The queen started living in that temple.
10:08If the queen cooked food, the vegetables would burn.
10:11Insects would get stuck in the flour.
10:13The water would start smelling.
10:15The priest, too, was very worried about the queen's misfortune and said,
10:18Dear daughter, you have definitely done something wrong.
10:22Because of which the gods are angry with you.
10:25And it is because of their anger that you are in this state.
10:29Hearing the priest's words, the queen did not go to the temple on her husband's orders.
10:34She told him not to worship Lord Shiva.
10:37The priest said,
10:38Now you don't worry.
10:40Tomorrow is Monday.
10:41And from tomorrow, you start fasting on the 16th of Monday.
10:45Lord Shiva will definitely forgive your sins.
10:48Listening to the priest, the queen started fasting on the 16th of Monday.
10:53After fasting on Monday, the queen started listening to the story of Lord Shiva.
10:59When the queen finished her fast on the 17th of Monday,
11:03Her husband, the king, remembered the queen.
11:06The king immediately sent his soldiers to find the queen.
11:10The soldiers reached the temple in search of the queen.
11:13And asked the queen to return.
11:15The priest refused the soldiers.
11:18And the soldiers returned disappointed.
11:20They returned and told the king everything.
11:23The king himself went to the priest in the temple.
11:26And because of taking the queen out of the palace,
11:29He apologized to the priest.
11:31The priest said to the king,
11:33This is all because of Lord Shiva's anger.
11:36Saying this, he bid farewell to the queen.
11:38The queen reached the palace with the king.
11:41A lot of happiness was celebrated in the palace.
11:43The whole city was decorated.
11:45The king gave food, clothes and money to the Brahmins.
11:49Clothes were distributed to the poor in the city.
11:51The queen started living happily in the palace on the 16th of Monday.
11:56With the grace of Lord Shiva,
11:58Happiness was filled in her life.
12:01By fasting on the 16th of Monday,
12:03And listening to the story,
12:05All human desires are fulfilled.
12:07And there is no shortage of any kind in life.
