'This situation is reminiscent of the events of the cold war'

On Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a stern warning to the United States regarding the planned deployment of long-range missiles in Germany by 2026. If Washington proceeds, Russia will station similar missiles within striking distance of the West.

"This situation is reminiscent of the events of the Cold War related to the deployment of American medium–range Pershing missiles in Europe," Putin remarked.

He reiterated that Russia could resume production of intermediate and shorter-range nuclear-capable missiles and consider deployment locations in response to U.S. actions in Europe and Asia.

00:38We will take mirrored measures to deploy them, taking into account the actions of the United States and its satellites in Europe and other regions of the world.
