00:00Computer science videos here today to show you guys in this tutorial how to
00:05extract a zip file within a USB flash drive on a Mac computer using terminal
00:10without further ado let us start the video. So in this tutorial you need to
00:16have access to a Mac computer a USB flash drive a zip file within that flash
00:21drive and be able to use terminal as well as the terminal commands so we're
00:25gonna start this tutorial. Let's now go all the way down to the dock open up
00:29the finder now insert the USB flash drive into the Mac computer let's just
00:36wait for that to load and open up let's go to locations located in the sidebar
00:44of the finder click on the Kingston USB the easiest way to unzip a zip file
00:51would be to double click on that zip file and that would extract all the
00:55contents however there may be a time where we need to perform a complex task
01:01in order to extract all the content from maybe a zip file with a password on it
01:08which is what terminal needs to be used in order to circumvent any complex
01:17situations so we can now minimize finder for the moment now let's go all the way
01:23down to the dock go to launchpad search for the command prompt terminal open
01:28this up increase the size of the terminal window increase the text size
01:32using command plus a couple of times let's now clear everything on screen
01:40let's now change directory to the desktop CD desktop tab semicolon ls
01:49minus L to list everything on the desktop let's navigate to volumes and
01:56Kingston CD slash volume Kingston semicolon ls minus L and now to extract
02:08the zip file which is computer science videos dot zip the command for this is
02:16unzip
02:24and the zip file name before we enter and watch the magic occur let's go all
02:33the way down to the dock open up the Kingston USB in finder place everything
02:42side-by-side and now go back to terminal and press enter and there we go
02:53zip file has now been unzipped let's go to the Kingston USB in finder click on
03:02the folder computer science videos and there we have all the content extracted
03:07in the folder computer science videos so we can do now is go back to terminal
03:14clear everything on screen CD quit terminal quit the Kingston USB eject the
03:26USB remove the USB from the my computer
