The Marlins traded A.J. Puk to the Arizona Diamondbacks for two prospects, corner infielder Deyvison De Los Santos and center fielder Andrew Pintar. Jazz Chisholm Jr. is also drawing interest from other teams and so is Tanner Scott.
Transcript
00:00I went to Marlins trade yesterday.
00:02Oh, AJ Puck has been dealt to the Arizona Diamondbacks
00:06for two prospects, Davison De Los Santos.
00:11Yes.
00:13And a center fielder, Andrew Pintar.
00:16Which means if they bring it in a center fielder.
00:20Yeah, there is some word that Jazz is going to,
00:23well, this guy's like, he's in like double A,
00:25but there has been some thought that Jazz
00:27is gonna get some good time at second base.
00:29Wait, they bring pitchers up from double A,
00:31that's how Dontrell came up.
00:33Jazz is playing.
00:34Dontrell came up from double A.
00:35Jazz is playing awesome right now, man.
00:37Yeah, but okay, but it's not here.
00:41Here's the two things I have a problem with.
00:44One, whenever they trade somebody,
00:46they never trade them for anybody, right?
00:49Like we've gotten over the past 15 years,
00:53we've gotten the worst end of damn near every trade.
00:56That being said, as great as Jazz is playing,
01:00they're not winning nothing.
01:02I understand, but that's not his fault.
01:05Right, it's not his fault, but the iron's hot with him.
01:09You could get something.
01:10My problem is, is what they get.
01:13So like, okay, how are we gonna handle this
01:16when every time you trade a guy that has any value,
01:20you don't get anything for him?
01:22Well, I think the thing with Jazz is the assumption
01:25is if you're gonna trade for him,
01:27you're gonna have to pay him eventually.
01:29I think he's got two years left of control.
01:30So I think that's probably part of it.
01:32And there's also a,
01:33it's kind of a nasty negotiating game going on with him
01:36because everyone's trying to do this bold leap of,
01:38oh, I don't know, he's a locker room malcontent sometimes.
01:43So people are trying to like,
01:44it seems like publicly torpedo his value, which-
01:47Politicking, they're politicking.
01:49They're politicking, they're politicking.
01:51And I wonder this though, like, look,
01:55they can't politic, the Marlins can't politic.
01:57You know why?
01:58Because everybody believes a player over the Marlins
02:01because that's what this franchise has been.
02:04Right, well, I do wonder this though.
02:05Like if you're the Marlins, right?
02:07And you have somebody,
02:08it's taken them so long to get anybody
02:10of offensive talent on their team.
02:13You're not paying anybody on this team next year.
02:15Would it really kill the Marlins to give somebody
02:17like Jazz Chisholm and Accenture a come do it with it?
02:19Now, I realize Jazz may wanna go off to the Yankees
02:23or Philly or some big market.
02:25He obviously has a big personality, a star persona.
02:28So he may wanna get the hell out of here.
02:30He may not wanna stick around.
02:32But if you are gonna get fleeced in these deals
02:35or you're just sending them off to send them off,
02:36is it like, is there any shot that they just go
02:39and roll the dice on bringing them back
02:41at least next year?
02:43I don't wanna trade with the Yankees
02:44because if you trade with the Yankees,
02:48you won't get something that if he was any good
02:50would be playing with the Yankees.
02:54Right?
02:55No, I mean, like, look, like the people,
02:59people do have good prospects.
03:00I'm not saying like it's impossible to go
03:03and get a good deal for them.
03:04Supposedly the deal that I did yesterday,
03:06they got the six best prospect from the Diamondbacks.
03:08So, you know.
03:10Best prospect in their organization or overall?
03:13In their organization.
03:15For a reliever, not bad, especially with him.
03:19You never know with him.
03:20But you know he's gonna come here and hit 200.
03:22Well, you know.
03:24Because I don't know what it is about
03:25when they come to hit for the Marlins.
03:27He's not wrong about that.
03:29No, every time, look, Duke bats 700.
03:33He's batting 700 in the last two months.
03:35Great prospect.
03:36You bring him up, can't hit the broad side of a barn.
03:39Tanner Scott's as good as gone.
03:41He's gonna be out of here.
03:42But so far, they're trying to deal jazz,
03:45but apparently no deals are close
03:48according to Craig Misch.
03:49When is the trade done?
03:50No, the trade done.
03:51When is the trade done?
03:53Next Tuesday?
03:54Yeah, okay.
03:54We got time.
03:56I mean, it's not like...
03:57Baseball is, like, it's weird for me
04:02because of all the sports,
04:06there's really not one guy
04:09that can take over a game on a nightly basis.
04:14You can say that in all the other sports.
04:16You can say that in football.
04:17You can say that in hockey.
04:18Hell, we just watched what Connor McDavid did.
04:23Like...
04:23What did he do?
04:24Score zero points in the last two games?
04:26I mean, you know, come on, dude.
04:28Stop.
04:28What?
04:29Stop.
04:30You know what I'm saying.
04:31You mean Mr. Empty Con Smythe?
04:35Yeah.
04:36Connor McDavid?
04:37Anyone.
04:38They call him the con artist.
04:40Anyway, you know what the hell I'm saying.
04:42In basketball, you can take over.
04:44No, I'm just...
04:45In football, there's a guy
04:46that could go on the field and dominate.
04:48But if you're three for three,
04:51with three home runs in baseball,
04:55it don't mean you're gonna win.
04:56That's just three runs.
04:58Like, on a nightly basis,
05:00I don't care how good you are,
05:03you can get lost.
05:05But riddle me this, Batman.
05:06Sure.
05:07How does a goalie who has a shutout
05:09and gives up one goal in a clincher,
05:14how does that guy not get the award
05:15over the guy who had zero points in two games?
05:18Because he gave up...
05:20Who gives a rat's ass?
05:21Because...
05:22He had more elite games than he had stinkers.
05:24He also gave up an Archie Manny.
05:28No, he didn't give up an Archie Manny.
05:29He came out.
05:37Ridiculous.
05:38What is this hockey racket?
05:40I'm sick of it.
05:41But I'm just saying...
05:42You guys don't deserve the Panthers, NHL.
05:44Back to jazz.
05:45Sorry.
05:47So, regardless of how good a year jazz is having,
05:54you can probably get some good prospects for him.
05:58However, every time they trade a good play for prospects,
06:02the prospects don't pan out.
06:04So, I'm more inclined to just keep the guy
06:06you know is gonna be well.
06:08Now, here's the problem.
06:11Can he go to arbitration after this year?
06:14I think he's got two more years of control.
06:15I mean, they still go to arbitration.
06:17Right.
06:19So, like, yeah.
06:21Look at how this...
06:23So, that's a tough spot.
06:26I don't know what to do.
06:28Oh, I mean, they're gonna trade him if ultimately...
06:31Are you gonna show confidence in who they bring in?
06:34No, why would I have any confidence?
06:35Like, I don't know.
06:36I mean, like, I suppose your just faith
06:38is in Peter Bendix being super baseball nerd
06:41and he's gonna figure it out, but...
06:42And they trade the guy that they got in a trade.
06:45Yeah, but that's not a trade he made.
06:49I mean, that's back, you know,
06:51that trade was made back in the day for Zach Allen.
06:53But it's one that worked.
06:55Eh.
06:56They gave him.
06:57And if you said, wait, the fact that you said eh
07:01means that you can trade Jess.
07:04I'm just asking, I guess the thing that I was just like,
07:06well, if people are gonna play this game publicly
07:09with the Marlins where they're like,
07:10oh, I don't know, I don't know what a personality he is.
07:13Like, all right, screw it.
07:14Like, I don't want them to get fleeced for jazz,
07:16is I guess what I'm saying.
07:18Contrary to popular belief,
07:19all you morons in the real world, right?
07:23We don't always get along with all of our coworkers.
07:27That's true.
07:28And at some point you look at the production
07:32over to Malkinton, right?
07:35He ain't gotta hit,
07:36he ain't gotta go in the batter's box and hit with friends.
07:38I mean, he's not a Malkinton.
07:39He's had one public.
07:40I'm just saying.
07:41He's had one public beef against Miguel Rojas.
07:44I love Miggie Roe.
07:45Miggie Roe is his class as they come.
07:46They hated each other.
07:48Happens.
07:49Sometimes people don't like each other.
07:50Right, but I'm just, right.
07:52But that's my point.
07:53My point is that whatever you may think
07:55or what people may think or whatever,
07:58like it's baseball.
08:00Like at some point you gotta,
08:02did the Marlins get fleeced with Stanton?
08:04I'm gonna say this.
08:05Well, Stanton made a gazillion dollars.
08:08You weren't gonna get a lot for it.
08:09Here, I'll say this.
08:12That was a salary dump and he's always hurt.
08:16So if he was still here, you'd, oh my goodness.
08:22They couldn't afford that.
08:23Do you see, by the way, Yelich's back is jacked up again?
08:27Yeah, he's been pretty good too.
08:29Nah, I mean, he was like, he was an MVP candidate,
08:31but now apparently he might have to get
08:33season ending back surgery.
08:35It's really weird, right?
08:36Like he's had that since he was a kid.
08:37Right, but that's because he's so tall, right?
08:42You're so tall and you got that twerking at a core.
08:45This is the whole point of why I said what I said though,
08:47back in the day.
08:48Like, you know what I mean?
08:50My heart was in the right place.
08:52No, you didn't think he was gonna be that good
08:54and he's a baller.
08:56That's the fact.
