00:00We're gonna get real corny.
00:01Is there a corny joke to start with?
00:04F***.
00:06Save that one for the chickens.
00:08Today I'm bringing you three viral corn recipes.
00:12These are the recipes that are all over TikTok
00:15that have highlighted the sweet, juicy summer corn.
00:19Some of them just include canned corn.
00:21So these are gonna be easy and just a whole new way
00:24to enjoy the flavor of corn.
00:26Starting with the viral Wingstop fried Cajun corn.
00:31I, for one, have never had Wingstop,
00:33but I've been able to taste it through that phone screen
00:37as I watch these viral videos
00:38and my mouth just waters every time.
00:40What I love is that it's just like
00:42little manageable corn cob pieces.
00:45They're crispy fried and then they're coated
00:47in this really seasoned butter mixture.
00:51So you just start by cutting your corn on the cob
00:53into just two inch thick pieces.
00:57And then they deep fry it.
00:59I'm going to air fry this because it still gets crispy
01:02and I think you need another use for your air fryer.
01:05This ends up looking just so flavorful.
01:08I just feel like I have corn all over my face.
01:11I do, I can see it.
01:14This is that corn that you wanna eat
01:15on the side of like your boiled shrimp or your chicken wings
01:19because I hear that Wingstop isn't necessarily known
01:22for their wings as much as they're known
01:24for this or their ranch.
01:28So at this point, this, per their recipe,
01:30just goes straight into oil to fry.
01:33I'm gonna coat it in butter and oil and air fry it.
01:37I'm gonna go ahead and add a little salt,
01:39get some flavor in there while it cooks.
01:43So I'm gonna air fry this.
01:45Everyone has an air fryer now, don't they?
01:47So we're gonna do this one high, so 390, 400
01:50because you can eat corn raw.
01:52I'm not trying to overcook this.
01:54I want it to be kind of crispy on the outside
01:55but still juicy on the inside.
01:58So while that cooks,
02:00we can make the flavorful butter to pour on top.
02:03So I'm gonna take the rest of the stick of butter
02:05and melt that down with quarter teaspoon of oregano,
02:10quarter teaspoon of thyme,
02:12whole teaspoon of garlic powder and onion powder,
02:16quarter teaspoon of cayenne.
02:19I didn't want smoked paprika.
02:22We gotta go get regular.
02:25Just plain, plain paprika.
02:28We're not trying to make barbecue.
02:32About a teaspoon.
02:34I'm gonna go in with a little more salt and pep.
02:37I'm just gonna melt this all together in the microwave.
02:41When you heat the butter up with all the spices in,
02:43it has a chance to like really get in there
02:45and flavor the butter.
02:46Cause you can smell it.
02:48Look at that.
02:49That's flavor.
02:50All right, let's check the corn.
02:52Look at that.
02:54Fried crispy bits.
02:55I'm not trying to overcook it though.
02:57Corn can go to overcooked real fast.
03:03While it's hot, let it soak up all the flavor.
03:09Gotta have some green confetti in there.
03:12Oh yeah.
03:13I'm just gonna platter some up.
03:15I left this space because you have to put ranch.
03:18I think the wing ranch is just the classic
03:21Hidden Valley packet with some buttermilk.
03:23That's what I did.
03:24Okay, here's the taste test.
03:26My first Wingstop corn on the cob.
03:29Look at that.
03:29I mean, you can taste that.
03:31I saw a lot of people eat it like this.
03:33My gut is to eat it like you would corn on the cob,
03:36but everyone I saw ate it up and down.
03:39Decisions.
03:45Oh my God.
03:46Did I just get it on my nose?
03:48That's better than street corn.
03:51That might be the best corn on the cob I've ever had.
03:54You hear it?
03:56Doesn't need the ranch, but let's just taste it anyway.
04:01I mean, what's not good dipped in ranch?
04:03But for me, it is all about this corn.
04:05I can tell you right now,
04:07I'm 100% invited to the barbecue with this corn.
04:10Mm-hmm.
04:13This next one I have been seeing everywhere,
04:15the Frito corn salad.
04:18I'm gonna call it salad slash dip
04:20because last time I made a corn salad,
04:21everyone ate it as a dip.
04:23All the videos I've seen have used like the canned
04:26Fiesta corn.
04:28This, using fresh corn is actually cheaper
04:30than buying all the cans of that.
04:32So we're gonna use this,
04:33but I'm gonna do the old shuck it from the microwave.
04:36Make it easier for us.
04:39I want my corn to still be like really crunchy,
04:40so I'm not trying to cook it in the microwave,
04:43but I just wanna cook it long enough
04:44to remove these husks super simply.
04:48So you just kind of like cut the ends off.
04:52And then you just pop it in the microwave
04:53for like five minutes.
04:55And then I'm just gonna chop up the other veggies
04:57that go in it.
04:58So I think it's pretty loose here.
05:00You can really do whatever you want,
05:01whatever kind of flavor combo you want.
05:03I'm gonna do some bell pepper
05:05and a little bit of sweet onion.
05:08A couple jalapenos here.
05:11So watch this.
05:14Microwaving the corn in the husk
05:16just makes the shucking process a whole lot easier.
05:22Voila.
05:23It's cone.
05:24Mm, cone.
05:25I miss that song.
05:27All right, then just take the corn directly off the cob.
05:30Still has a lot of crunch and juice to it.
05:34All right, everything into the bowl.
05:35Going in with some mayonnaise and sour cream.
05:38I'm gonna go a little more mayonnaise than sour cream.
05:40And then the version I liked used tajin as the seasoning.
05:45I just think that sounds perfect.
05:47And a little cilantro.
05:50This is gonna be so good.
05:51And then salt and a lot of pepper.
05:54Let's see how we're doing.
05:58Hold on, we're not done.
05:59We're not done.
06:00Forgot something.
06:02Shocker.
06:03Mexican blend cheese.
06:07Y'all, look at that.
06:09And for the final touch.
06:13We crush them up.
06:18Does that sound good?
06:19Mm-hmm.
06:22Now this gets mixed in.
06:25And you could just eat this with a fork
06:27as a barbecue side dish.
06:29Everybody's gonna want this.
06:32Let me take a bite like that just to see how we're doing.
06:37That's so dang good.
06:38It's so crunchy, fresh, and juicy from the corn,
06:41that little sweet onion, and those bell peppers.
06:44But then you get that salty crunch
06:45from the Fritos, of course.
06:47But then you hear that like tajin
06:49with a little bit of that tanginess in there.
06:52I'll take double the Fritos.
06:54There's Fritos in it.
06:55And then scoop it with it.
06:57Mm.
07:02That's good.
07:03These are good ones, y'all.
07:05Let's keep going.
07:07All right, now this one is the viral
07:10restaurant-style crispy corn.
07:12This is like fried corn that is apparently
07:14still juicy on the inside, crunchy, crispy on the outside.
07:18Now every recipe I saw used canned corn
07:21or they cooked fresh corn.
07:23So since it's already gotta be cooked,
07:25I'm gonna use the can.
07:27Whole kernel sweet corn.
07:29So you wanna drain this corn really well.
07:31Oh, I need to be heating up some oil.
07:33Now this is fried, but because it's such a small amount,
07:36you don't need like a huge pot of oil.
07:39We're just gonna be able to do a small portion.
07:41So just grab like a medium saucepan
07:44and get you some oil in it.
07:45So you just need enough to submerge the corn in
07:48and then we're just gonna use like a slotted spoon.
07:50So we'll get that heating while I get that corn dried off.
07:54And now to keep it really dry,
07:56they add in a little bit of cornstarch and salt.
07:59So the cornstarch is gonna create a dry surface
08:02on the outside of the corn
08:03and it's also gonna help it get like really crunchy, crispy.
08:10Okay, it said all the kernels need to be covered
08:12with the cornstarch, so I'm doing it like that.
08:15A little bit of salt.
08:17Now let's watch the magic happen.
08:18I'm gonna do this kind of in batches.
08:21So we're frying this until it's like lightly golden brown.
08:25This is good, of course,
08:27eating just like this as a side dish.
08:28This also sounds super delicious
08:30to put on like a taco salad or tacos or any kind of salad.
08:40When it comes out, you're supposed to season it
08:42with a little bit of salt and pepper, paprika,
08:45and then like some fresh chilies.
08:46You can do lime on there.
08:48Now we're talking.
08:50Okay, this is what it's all about.
08:52Listen, crispy corn.
08:55Is it still juicy inside?
08:56We'll see.
08:57With a little bit of some green chilies.
09:00It's a little kick and a little drizzle of lime.
09:04So you get already the sweet from the corn,
09:06but then you get the salty from the salt we put on it
09:09and then a kick from this
09:10and then a tangy, bright with the lime.
09:16Oh my God.
09:18That's a way to dress up a can of corn right there.
09:20I think they call it restaurant corn.
09:23You probably pay a fortune for this in a restaurant,
09:26but it's just about worth it.
09:28You could take that like $2 can
09:30and make it taste like a $10 side.
09:34Mm, it's like toasted on the outside,
09:36like the crunch of like a taco shell almost,
09:40but the inside of the corn is still juicy
09:42even after frying in the oil for a couple minutes.
09:45That little kick from the jalapeno in there,
09:48quite delicious.
09:49Do it.
09:51It's another good one.
09:51It's another good one.
09:53I don't know which is my favorite.
09:55I'm telling you right now,
09:56you've never had corn like this before
09:58and every one of these recipes was so easy to make.
10:01I mean, boiled corn is of course easy.
10:04These are just as easy,
10:05but with about a million times more flavor.
10:08I don't know which one's my favorite,
10:09but I don't think I can ever eat
10:11plain boiled corn ever again.
10:14Y'all have to make these.
10:15Let me know when you do.
10:18Mm, such a humble vegetable.
10:21It's filled with endless possibilities.
10:23Come on, let me show you what you get.
10:26It's corn.
10:27A big lump of not the juice.
10:29Can't imagine a more beautiful thing.
10:31I didn't get that corny.
