00:00When you talk about the number of people that the fundraising indicates, I want to ask you,
00:05I know it's so early still, we keep saying we're less than 24 hours into this news, but
00:11do you have any predictions for what this means for the down-ballot races across the
00:15country?
00:16Look, I mean, at the basic level, enthusiasm for the top of the ticket helps down-ballot.
00:23Again, because if what was the real concern, and I think it's still a concern, by the way.
00:31Problems have not evaporated for Democrats overnight.
00:35Democratic concern is really this cycle about turnout.
00:39Will Democrats turn out, and this is across different communities, progressives, young
00:44people, voters of color, right?
00:47Will they come out to support the Democrats because they are so essential to the outcome
00:52of the race?
00:54And so that enthusiasm and turnout at the top of the ticket is going to generate turnout
01:01and enthusiasm for down-ballot races.
01:04So if people weren't going to come out for Biden, those folks in vulnerable down-ballot
01:08races, as we saw, were very concerned because folks just know less about those races.
01:14They may be less enthusiastic just simply because they don't know enough, they don't
01:19realize it's a vulnerable race, it gets less media attention, especially in this media
01:24environment.
01:25So absolutely, these first indicators, if you're somebody in a vulnerable congressional
01:30race or even state legislative race, and you're a Democrat, you're feeling at least better
01:36in this last 24 hours.
01:39Obviously there's a lot to come, and there'll be much greater scrutiny of Kamala if she
01:43becomes the nominee, and all of that could equally hurt, but I think for now you're feeling
01:49better than you were last week.
