00:00Who is going to be the running mate? What do you think that looks like? Because now

00:04some names being floated around are some moderate governors.

00:08What do you think of those selections?

00:10Well, moderate governors by Democratic Party standards. Let's make that clear.

00:15There were no big tax cutters in the list I saw. And one of the names mentioned,

00:20Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, kiboshed school choice after indicating during his campaign

00:27that he was in favor of some sort of school choice. So I think it's going to be a moderate

00:34because they want a governor who has nothing to do with this Washington,

00:38nothing to do with this administration, and can plausibly people say, okay,

00:44governor experience knows how to run things. So Governor Cooper of North Carolina,

00:51I think since North Carolina, even though Republicans almost always carry it,

00:55it's by a very narrow margin. It's never one you can count on. You have to work hard to get it.

01:02So that would be a choice for the Democrats would think to put North Carolina into play.

01:09The governor of Kentucky this year, Red State, been elected twice as governor,

01:15but I don't think they think he could bring Kentucky with them. And so it'll probably be

01:20somebody like Roy Cooper of North Carolina. And the fact that nobody's heard of him actually

01:27in the Democrats mind will be a plus, because no invisible baggage.

01:33Aside from Kamala Harris being the vice president being number two in the Biden administration.

01:39I mean, does she carry that with her that type of baggage, if you will?

01:43Because can Republicans then in this election be like, she is just Biden Jr.

01:49Aside from the age thing with Biden, they can just say they are Republicans. You're right.

01:56The Republicans will certainly go and say she can't wash her hands of everything that's gone

02:01wrong, but never underestimate chutzpah in politics. She said in a speech today on Monday,

02:10she proclaimed that Biden has the best legacy of a president in modern times,

02:15best since Franklin Roosevelt. And when you do that with a straight face,

02:20given what's happened with inflation, given what's happened with the border,

02:24given what's happened with the punk growth of the economy, given the

02:28serious deterioration we have overseas and in many, many theaters, that's quite a bold statement,

02:36bold statement to make. So what they're going to do ultimately is try to make this an election

02:41about personalities. And this is where the Republicans have to focus on issues and not

02:49get in the trenches fighting the Democrats on personalities, but focus on issues. Who's

02:55likely to cut your taxes? Who's likely to raise your taxes? Who's going to save your

03:00traditional automobile? Who's going to save your gas stove? One of the great issues

03:04is pointing out that Harris and the others are attacking every modern convenience.

03:10They don't formally ban them, but they put regulations where you

03:14either can't buy them or they don't work very well anymore.
