00:00Carl and Kate were inspired by the way fish scales have different shades of the same color
00:06and reflect the light.
00:07So you had to find a lot of silver cars.
00:10Yes.
00:11And the junkyard, there's like acres of them.
00:13The most I ever got was like 15 in a day.
00:17Once Carl hit the gas, there was no stopping him.
00:19Like this glass awning that came from Dodge minivans.
00:22They're the little windows that vent.
00:24Yeah.
00:25They kind of pop out and they have a little hardware on them that allowed me to attach
00:29them to these aluminum kind of rafter pieces.
00:33They're actually tempered glass and so they meet the building code.
00:37The couple was also mindful about blending their house into the neighborhood.
00:41It's only 14 feet wide with a roof that pitches forward.
00:44So it appears smaller than it really is.
00:47We kind of joke that when you walk in, it's kind of like walking into Harry Potter's tent
00:53where it's really small outside and then you walk in and it's big and open.
00:57So it's sort of a surprise.
00:59And they weren't kidding.
01:00This double-decker, three bedroom, two bathroom home is super spacious and cars aren't the
01:06only thing they repurposed.
01:09I'm really loving all this wood in here.
01:11Yeah.
01:12Tell me about it.
01:13This tree fell down on the property of a client we were working with.
01:18She used it in her house and then we bought whatever she didn't need.
01:23Yeah, here it is.
01:24It's perfect.
01:25Kate and Carl also repurposed leftover tan oak from another project to create the kitchen
01:29countertop, the stairs, and the floors on the second level.
01:33It's beautiful.
01:34It's beautiful.
