00:00Thanks, Karine.
00:01You read the President's statement where he said
00:03that it's in the country's best interest for him to step aside.
00:06Why is it in the country's best interest for him to step aside?
00:09Does it have to do with his health or his numbers?
00:11It does not have to do —
00:12they have nothing to do with his health.
00:14Again, the President is going to speak to this
00:15directly to the American people tonight in prime time.
00:19I know many of you all will be watching it.
00:21There are specials going on tonight.
00:22He will — I promise you,
00:24he will speak to this directly to all of you tonight.
00:27But in his letter, he talked about the country.
00:30He talked about the party.
00:31He talked about the moment that we're in right now.
00:34It is not about his health.
00:35I can say no, that's not the reason.
00:38But hear him out tonight.
00:40And the President denied for weeks,
00:42and you denied for weeks,
00:43that he was even thinking of stepping aside.
00:46What changed from all those days
00:48that he had that message to Sunday?
00:50So, look, he's going to address this as well this evening.
00:53Let him speak for himself.
00:55But here's what I will say.
00:57And I think we gave a little bit of a TikTok to all of you.
00:59He met with a small group of advisers on Saturday evening,
01:08and with his family,
01:10and was thinking through how to move forward.
01:15Sunday afternoon, he made that decision.
01:17It was in a very short period of time, as you can imagine.
01:21And then at 145, he got on the phone
01:24with some of his assistants to the President, some advisers.
01:29He let them know.
01:30And then minutes later, a letter went out.
01:34So it was in a very short period of time
01:37that the President was able to think about this
01:41and make a decision.
01:42But I would say again,
01:45the President's going to address the American people.
01:47You will hear directly from him tonight.
