00:00Maybank has assured its customers that their information is fully protected and their systems

00:07remain secure.

00:08The bank's assurance follows claims that a Maybank2U database was offered for sale on

00:14a dark web forum.

00:17Maybank said there are various fraud countermeasures in place for its customers' online transactions

00:22such as Secure2U, which authenticates transactions as well as a cooling-off period for high-risk

00:29transactions.

00:31It added that security concerns are taken very seriously and they will continue to monitor

00:36and ensure that their data is protected at all times.

00:41It advised customers to stay vigilant and keep information such as their user ID and

00:46password safe while being cautious of malware, WhatsApp messages, phishing sites, and phone

00:51calls requesting credentials.

00:54Earlier today, online forum laoyat.net reported that a dark web monitoring website had found

01:00a Maybank2U database with customer details for sale on a popular dark web forum for US$18,000.

01:08However, laoyat.net said the post was subsequently deleted from the forum.
