00:31Good evening, John Visayas and Mindanao.
00:35In his own State of the Nation Address,
00:39President Bongbong Marcos ordered the banning of the operation of Pogos in the country,
00:45effective from today.
00:47That is one of the most important steps in his third zone,
00:52where the right of the country to the occupied territory in the West Philippine Sea was also violated.
00:57The President also discussed his effective way of administration
01:02to solve the problem of drugs.
01:05From Batasapabasa, live from Ivan Mayrina, Ivan.
01:13Mel, Pia, Emil, the President has been waiting for months for the position of Pogos in the country.
01:19And in his third State of the Nation Address,
01:22the President gave a surprise announcement and order about the Pogos.
01:28Effective today, all Pogos are banned!
01:33BAN! BAN! BAN! BAN!
01:42BAN! BAN! BAN! BAN!
01:47The President's announcement came at the sound of a loud clap
01:52The President has asked the people of the country to stop this, which has become a source of incitement for crime.
02:05Now, we can hear the strong cry of the people of the country against the Pogos.
02:13Disguising as legitimate entities, their operations have ventured into illicit areas furthest from gaming,
02:21such as financial scamming, money laundering, prostitution, human trafficking, kidnapping, brutal torture, even murder.
02:28The grave abuse and disrespect to our system of laws must stop.
02:33This disorder must be stopped in our society and in our country.
03:03In addition, the President has ordered PAG-Corps and economic managers,
03:07especially more than 20,000 Filipinos working for the Pogos, to be affected by this order.
03:15I hereby instruct PAG-Corps to wind down and cease the operations of Pogos by the end of the year.
03:21The DOLE, in coordination with our economic managers,
03:28shall use the time between now and then to find new jobs for our countrymen who will be displaced.
03:40The President is also calling on the government and the citizens to take care of the ongoing problem of Pogos.
03:50To solve all the problems that we have been suffering under,
03:56all officials, law enforcers, workers in government, and most of all, the citizenry,
04:04must always be vigilant, principled, and think of the health of the nation.
04:10Let me end by recalling the words of a great man.
04:16Let not anyone pacify his conscience by the delusion that he can do no harm if he takes no part and forms no opinion.
04:28Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends than that good men should look on and do nothing.
04:36These words were said by John Stuart Mill, a philosopher and a member of parliament of the United Kingdom.
04:43Meanwhile, before this order, another plan has emerged from the 2,000 people inside the plenary hearing in Sona
04:50by the President, which is his re-assertion of the rights of the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea.
04:56The West Philippine Sea is not just our imagination, it is ours.
05:27And...
05:37And we will continue to do so until the glory of our beloved country, the Philippines, comes to light.
05:45Special mention in Sona is the President's thanks to the Philippine Coast Guard and fishermen who are facing the challenges in the region.
06:02To the Philippine Coast Guard, to our fishermen in the West Philippine Sea,
06:09please accept our heartfelt thanks to the whole country for your sacrifice.
06:24Despite these statements, according to the President, the Philippines continues to strive for peace in the West Philippine Sea.
06:31Proper diplomatic channels and mechanisms under the rules-based international order remain the only acceptable means of settling disputes.
06:43Peace and community building will always be our clarion call.
06:47We continuously try to find ways to de-escalate tensions in contested areas with our counterparts, without compromising our position and our principles.
06:58I know that our neighbors, too, are doing their best to make this work.
07:03The Philippines cannot yield. The Philippines cannot waver.
07:16The President also mentioned the issue of the War on Drugs, which was the center of the campaign that was followed by the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
07:24When he grew up, his campaign against drugs was effective, which he called bloodless.
07:32Our bloodless war on dangerous drugs adheres and will continue to adhere to the established eight E's of an effective anti-illegal drug strategy.
07:44Extermination was never one of them.
07:54Mel, Vicky, Emil, the President's zone lasted for one hour and twenty-two minutes.
08:01That is the longest so far in the past three zones of the President.
08:06At this time, the President left the House of Representatives and we can see that the congressmen are also leaving.
08:16The heavy rains continued until now.
08:24Back to you, Emil.
08:26Thank you very much, Ivan Mayrena.
