The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever is a charity event which was held for the first time in Preston in 2023.

The idea is to fling yourself about in wild abandon and embrace something joyous and fun by re-enacting the iconic Kate Bush, Wuthering Heights music video from 1978 all to raise money for charity.

This year it took place on Sunday, July 21. Here's what people had to say about the event.

00:00We came last year and it was such a laugh. We had to do it again this year. We tried
00:14to rope a couple more people into it this year. But yeah, really good turnout. I'm really
00:19impressed.
00:20Do you think it'll be coming next year as well?
00:21Definitely. I think it's becoming an annual thing now, isn't it?
00:22Where do you get your costumes from? Do you plan in advance?
00:23This is from Peacocks and I bought it yesterday.
00:30Where's your outfit from, Gem? Oh, you borrowed your outfit?
00:39That was the most hyped day ever.
00:43And it was amazing.
00:44So you had a good time?
00:45It was fantastic.
00:46And this is the first time you've done it?
00:47I did it last year, yeah.
00:48Yeah, we did it last year.
00:49First time for me.
00:51And do you think you'll do it again?
00:54Oh, absolutely.
00:55Everyone should come down. The world needs more whimsy. Come dress up for Downs to Cape
01:01Washington.
01:02And where did you get your costumes from? Are they mixed in from everywhere?
01:04Oh, yeah.
01:05I couldn't find a plain one, so I got dots.
01:13The thing is, you look around and everybody's indifferent, and that's the best part.
01:20It's about having fun.
01:21It's a nod to Red, isn't it? A nod to Cape Red.
01:24Yeah.
01:25We're keeping their spirit alive, which is a good thing.
01:28Fantastic.
01:29I love Cape Red.
01:31Fantastic performance.
01:34Yeah, so we're all volunteers for Avon and Park Junior for Red, and we wanted to join
01:40in on this as a celebration.
01:41We're going to start using it for our warm-up, aren't we?
01:44And are you going to come next year? Is this going to be like a new thing?
01:48Yeah, we'll be doing it all year, every Sunday, at 9 o'clock, and we will graduate at the
01:56next Cape Bush event.
01:58I've got my 50 volunteer, and today was my 100th volunteer at Avon and Park Junior.
02:07So Robin and Liz are our directors for the event, and we have children aged 4 to 14 take
02:13part, but what we wanted to do is join together as a community, because it's all about standing
02:18local with local and being part of the community, and of course donating to our charity.
02:23Actually, it was my really good friend, Sarah, who did it last year and then persuaded me
02:32to come in on it, because it looked so much fun.
02:34And do you think you'll do it again next year?
02:36Oh, for sure, and I'll be getting some more people to come and dress up too.
02:39And where did you get your costume from?
02:41Oh, bits and bobs from all over the place. Wigs my own, of course.
02:46And I assume you like Cape Bush and all of the songs.
02:48Yeah, yeah, who doesn't?
02:50So since we're sisters, our parents loved Cape Bush, so we grew up around him.
02:56We grew up dancing around our bedrooms to him, and then when Liz's mum was born, my
03:01daughter, we dressed her up as a toddler in metal foil around her.
03:05So this is your first year doing this?
03:07Yeah.
03:08And do you think you'll do it again?
03:09Yes, I may, I think.
03:11I might do it a month at a time.
03:13And where did you get your costumes from?
03:15So I found mine in a charity shop called The Founding Totals.
03:19Oh, you got all of it? That's amazing.
03:21Yeah, from a charity shop also.
03:23And then I made these.
03:25I have like a perfect one for you both.
03:31You did it, you did it, you were amazing.
03:37Well done, Amber.
03:39Wasn't she magnificent?
03:45Oh, I don't want this moment to end, it's too beautiful.
03:49It's too beautiful.
