00:00Hi kids! Today we will learn what is recycling and why we should recycle materials.
00:09So let's get started!
00:12First of all, what is recycling?
00:18Recycling is the process of making new objects from objects that are once used.
00:26Objects that are made from materials like aluminum, plastic, glass, steel, and certain kinds of paper
00:37can be separated from your regular trash and sent for recycling, that is, for making new objects from them.
00:48Recycling starts by collecting the trash from your house,
00:54then separating the trash of different materials like separating paper, plastic, glass, and metal,
01:06and then sending these different materials to different places for processing them,
01:13and manufacturing new objects from the processed material.
01:20Like all paper trash is recycled to make paper again.
01:26All plastic trash is recycled to make plastic objects again.
01:32Similarly, all glass objects are processed to make glass objects again.
01:41So kids, you can see how all the trash we throw in bins can be recycled to make new objects.
01:50But for that, all trash is required to be separated into heaps of different types of materials.
01:58So we can contribute in recycling by keeping different bins for trash of different materials
02:06so that it is not required to be separated again.
02:11If you keep different bins at your house for different trash,
02:16you can throw paper trash in the paper bin, plastic trash in the plastic bin,
02:23glass trash in the glass bin, and metal trash in the metal bin.
02:31If there's any food waste, a separate bin for that too.
02:36If everyone keeps trash this way in separate bins,
02:40it will be easy for the collectors of trash to send the trash for recycling.
02:47They will not be required to do the separation of trash,
02:52and recycling of different materials would be easier.
02:57Now let's see why recycling is very important.
03:03Kids, let's take the example of tires.
03:09Tires are very useful structures.
03:13As every vehicle, car, bike, even planes can't run without tires.
03:20And like everything, tires too are worn out with time,
03:25and we are required to change the tires.
03:29So see how many tires are wasted or worn out daily?
03:34As the number of vehicles is in the millions or even more.
03:38Tires are made up of plastic or rubber,
03:42which does not break down easily,
03:45and release toxic chemicals when they break down,
03:49and use huge land,
03:52as billions of used tires fill large land and contaminates the soil.
03:58But we can help it out by recycling and reusing the tires.
04:04Tires can be recycled and reused too.
04:08Old tires can be used to make asphalt for roads.
04:13Waterproof mats for cars and soft yet firm bases for playgrounds.
04:19They can be reused as swings, as flower planters.
04:25Reusing them is easy because they are very durable.
04:30See how old tires are used to make seating arrangement,
04:35growing plants, as bins.
04:40So kids, we can reuse recycle to prevent tires from ending up
04:46in ugly sites of land filled with tires.
04:50So kids, now you know what is recycling,
04:54and why recycling is so important for us.
04:58Now you may go ahead and take a quiz to learn more.
05:02Bye-bye.
