00:00This is a 12-hour time-lapse of a flight radar in the airspace of the United States.
00:07You can see how it slows down and it looks like a lot of airplanes are flying on the map.
00:11This is a result of a global cyber outage in the computer systems in the Microsoft Windows operating system.
00:17Passengers in Ninoy Aquino International Airport and Mactan-Cebu International Airport are also having a headache
00:24because the system in the airports has almost been paralyzed last night.
00:27Today, check-and-counters in IAT Terminal 3 have already spread a lot
00:32even though there are still queues and other stranded passengers passing through the terminal
00:37because of their canceled flights.
00:40This was planned last February, but it just happened suddenly.
00:44For me, there's nothing to be blamed for. I'm just frustrated.
00:49We're on vacation because of their stress.
00:51According to General Manager Eric Ines of Manila International Airport Authority,
00:55the airlines are continuing their operations in Terminals 2 and 3.
00:59This is the most dangerous cyber-related issue that has affected the airport operations of the country.
01:05They immediately helped to evacuate the stranded passengers.
01:09Our medical team immediately deployed because of the number of stranded passengers.
01:18We also sent water to the malasakit kids.
01:24We also mobilized a few people to help manage the queues and traffic outside Terminal 3.
01:32According to MIAA, in order for the passengers not to be stranded in IA,
01:36they have to wait for the notice of their flight from their airline.
01:40Some banks in the country were also affected yesterday, but their services are back to normal.
01:46The cyber outage was caused by a bug in the update of the cybersecurity software, CrowdStrike.
01:51According to a security expert, the update may not have been a quality check before it was deployed.
01:57According to CrowdStrike, they fixed the bug and made it smaller so that it won't result in a cyber attack.
02:04They made a technical overview of what happened.
02:07But according to a cybersecurity agency, the recovery may have been delayed due to the tech outage.
02:13According to data analyst and technologist, Domek Ligot, aside from not being a cyber attack,
02:18it is also suspicious that there was a data leak.
02:21That's why companies should be more prepared in this situation.
02:25If there is a problem, even a hack or a glitch,
02:29you should have a failover system.
02:31For example, out of 100 computers, 15 were hit.
02:34You still have an extra 15 that you can use.
02:37So every company should be looking at that.
02:39The Department of Information and Communications Technology
02:43did not compromise on government websites and database.
02:46If they experienced something like that, they should not force reset.
02:49Because maybe the data inside their laptops and devices will be reset and everything will be lost.
