Tree chopped down to make way for a road to live on as soundboards in 500 guitars

A much-loved tree in the New South Wales city of Newcastle has been given a new and very different lease on life. It was initially chopped down to make way for a road by-pass. But a very determined guitar maker and musicians got his hands on it, ensuring the memory of the bunya pine lives on for decades.
