00:00Good morning, I'm James Connolly, I'm a reporter at the Yorkshire Evening Post and I'm here
00:07on Foundry Approach in Hare Hills, which as you can see behind me is where a bus was ablaze
00:13last night after a night of disorder and chaos. Police said that there were riot scenes here
00:19and there was an ongoing incident that started at about 5pm on Luxor Street in Hare Hills
00:25that most of the action seemed to be focused on Compton Road, which is just behind me.
00:31This is Foundry Approach, which is where a bus was set alight earlier today, sorry last night and
00:40you can see the path behind it is completely disintegrated. We've been told by the council
00:47and police that clean up is beginning today and the CEO of Leeds City Council Tom Reardon spoke
00:55this morning saying that he's expecting arrests over the next couple of days. Plenty of social
01:02media images were circulated during the course of the night so I'm sure many of you watching now
01:07will have seen what played out but for those of you who perhaps missed it or want a recap
01:12I'll go through our live blog now which is available on the Yorkshire Evening Post website.
01:18So disorder and riot scenes unfolded on the streets of Leeds as footage showed vehicles
01:24on fire, one of these is here in front of us here, this bus or remains of a bus
01:31and a police car which overturned during the police incident.
01:37So we were told that officers were called to Luxor Street in Hare Hills which is slightly further
01:42away at about 5pm on Thursday yesterday afternoon to what police said was an ongoing disturbance
01:51involving agency workers and some children. Crowds began to gather here as many people
01:58saw on social media and more officers were requested to attend the area in Hare Hills
02:05where they said that pockets of disorder were occurring. That's what West Yorkshire
02:09Police said in a statement last night.
