00:00Here is Steve Starkeesian, of course, the Longhorns, now in the SEC.
00:04Welcome to the conference, coach.
00:06As far as our transition in the Southeastern Conference,
00:09I think the key word is respect.
00:11We have a ton of respect for this conference.
00:14We have a ton of respect for the teams, the coaches, the players, and the fans.
00:20This is the elite conference in college football,
00:23and we're fortunate enough to be part of it.
00:27We won't do anything without having a level of respect of who we play,
00:31where we're playing them, the types of players that they have,
00:34the coaching that they have.
00:36And I think on the flip side of that, we have to go earn their respect.
00:39We're not going to get anything in this deal.
00:41Nothing's going to be free, OK?
00:42We're going to have to go earn the respect of our opponents,
00:45the opposing coaches, the opposing fans.
00:49And that's going to be kind of on the forefront of what we do.
00:53But the beauty of this conference is really the pageantry.
00:57They've already proved they can do it, right?
01:00I mean, we've already seen them beat Alabama.
01:02So this guy's got a great football program,
01:06and it really is going to be exciting to see how they do
01:09and how Oklahoma does in this conference.
01:12I've always said that the conference is the haves and have-nots, right?
01:17I'd never believed that the whole conference was good.
01:20I think half of them get their ass beat every week by the better half.
01:25So I think adding those two programs to kind of a half-and-half league,
01:33if you ask me, it makes it better finally.
01:36I'm not a buyer in every single team in that conference.
01:40There's a lot of teams in there that stink.
01:42That's just all there is to it.
01:44It's top-heavy.
01:45So now you've added two new powers, which makes it stronger up top
01:51and weaker at the bottom.
01:54Certainly does.
01:55One more from Sarkeesian.
01:56Of course, he has one of the Heisman favorites, Quinn Ewer's, back.
02:01He's got Arch Manning as well, says he's going to need both quarterbacks.
02:04Here he is on the Heisman hype for Ewer's.
02:06For us to be able to sit here and say this is the deepest team we've had,
02:10probably the most talented team we've had in my four years here,
02:14I can unequivocally say that.
02:16And we lost some really good players a year ago.
02:18But we've got a very deep football team, one that we're excited about
02:22and looking forward to watching them compete this fall.
02:26Of off the team, we've got three players here with us today.
02:28We've got Quinn Ewer's going into year three as our quarterback,
02:32a guy who has gotten better from year one to year two.
02:36He's really improved from year two to year three.
02:38He's changed his body.
02:39He looks great.
02:40He understands the system.
02:42But the thing that I'm probably most proud of him about is his leadership.
02:46This guy is exuding confidence right now.
02:49Yeah, and I think he's got a great shot at the Heisman.
02:52And I also, it's unfortunate because I want to watch
02:56Arch Manning play college football.
02:58Yeah, well, barring an injury to Ewer's, I don't think
03:02you're going to see that this year.
03:05And I know he wants to sell you we're going to need both guys.
03:09If you're winning, you don't change quarterbacks.
03:12And when you've got a guy who's brought you to the playoff already last year,
03:16you're not going to change quarterbacks.
03:17So I think we're going to have to wait another year for Arch, Scotty,
03:20unless something bad happens.
03:21Well, we'll see.
03:23The potential for injury in this conference, I think,
03:25is high every Saturday because it is the fastest, most violent conference
03:30in college football, and anybody can be injured in a second.
