00:00But let's go back to Saturday.
00:04I thought that the Cats needed it badly because I thought the game in Provo was terrible.
00:12In a matter of minutes, it went from good to terrible, just like this game.
00:17In a matter of minutes, it changed dramatically.
00:20One minute you guys are winning the game, it was like 6-3, and the next minute I'm watching
00:24a 99-yard crazy touchdown run on a punt, where the guy literally ran sideline to sideline
00:34and backwards.
00:35At one time, he ran backwards like 30 yards, and then he went forward 99 yards.
00:41I never see anything like it, and you were calling that play, and then from that point,
00:46they were dead.
00:47I mean, they got smoked in Provo.
00:49To see them react, because I was on them big time this week, I'm like, they're going to
00:54turn it around from that bad game in Provo.
00:57As sure as I'm sitting here, I'd hate to be playing them on Saturday in Manhattan, Kansas,
01:02and they came out and did exactly that.
01:04I thought Avery Johnson was great.
01:06Probably the best he's played in a very young career.
01:09He's a true sophomore, terrific talent, four-star guy, big-time runner, but also people are
01:14starting to figure out he can dart it around a little bit, too.
01:17He played his best overall game, I don't think there's any doubt, and I know the coaches
01:21were thrilled with the way the team responded and practiced during the week and took it
01:26to the game field on Saturday.
01:28It may sound like coach speak, but it's the truth.
01:30They ran for 300 yards in the game.
01:33They did a good job of shutting Ollie Gordon down after that first quarter.
01:37Nobody going into Saturday thought this was going to be a 42-20 game, but it certainly
01:42ended up being that way.
01:43K-State's playing a lot of guys.
01:44They've got a lot of good young players, but a terrific bounce-back win, 100% true.
01:50I mean, honestly, what was he?
01:52Threw for almost 260, three tutties, he ran for 60 yards, two tutties, and I threw a pick.
02:00That was the only flaw of the game.
02:02What did you think when you were calling the game and how he was mixing it up?
02:06Well, they had that really from the get-go.
02:10It's interesting to tell you this, because they really use a lot of 12 personnel, which
02:15means two tight ends, sometimes even more than that.
02:18Their lead tight end has been banged up and not near 100%.
02:23Their number two tight end was unavailable and will be probably for another couple of
02:27weeks or so.
02:28At least that's what we think.
02:29So what's the answer?
02:30Well, you either have to go a little bit deeper, and they did get a touchdown catch from that
02:34third guy, Will Ancio, but they spread the ball out and just said, okay, Avery, let's
02:39go.
02:40And so they were throwing it all around the yard from the get-go.
02:42It really opened up the run game, because as I said, they ran all over the place.
02:46They had 300 rushing yards against Oklahoma State.
02:49So overall, just a very, very fine bounce-back game, and I like this team.
02:54I like the league, but we've got a long, long, long way to go, Scott.
