00:00Be Responsible when Making Statements in the Dewan Rakyat
00:06Law and Institutional Reform Minister Azalina Ofman Said issued this warning to MPs today
00:11just before Bersatu's Wan Amat Faizal Wan Amat Kamau was suspended for six months.
00:17The Macong MP was suspended for referencing a poison pen letter naming the alleged mastermind
00:23of the Malaysia Airport's Holdings Berhad privatisation deal.
00:27Azalina told MPs that the immunity granted to them did not give them free reign to make
00:32false statements.
00:34She said there would be no issue if they referred to legitimate documents, but referencing poison
00:39pen letters cannot be allowed.
00:42Azalina also said Wan Faizal could have sought confirmation on the contents of the letter
00:46he cited first, instead of speaking as though they were confirmed.
00:51Wan Faizal is said to have referred to the letter when debating the Suakam report in
00:55the Dewan Rakyat earlier this month.
