Glen Powell Breaks Down His Role in ‘Twisters’: Movies Are ‘My Love Language’

00:00Glenn Powell is taking Hollywood by storm as one of the most sought-after leading men,

00:04and he sat down with us for our latest issue to chat about his latest film, Twisters.

00:09Glenn plays Tyler Owens, a storm chaser who is so popular, he has his face on t-shirts.

00:15On landing the role, he credits his Top Gun Maverick director, saying,

00:18"'When this came around, Joseph Kaczynski was one of the early writers of the script,

00:23and he told me about a role I could potentially be right for.

00:27I felt so honored.

00:28It would have been a real bummer to see anybody wear Tyler's cowboy hat other than me."

00:33In the past two years, Glenn has starred in Top Gun Maverick, Anyone But You, Hitman,

00:38and now Twisters.

00:39So how does the megastar keep a good work ethic through it all?

00:43He told us,

00:44"'It sounds silly, but when you have a great passion, it's not really work.

00:47I've loved movies my whole life.

00:49Since I was a kid, I had a video camera around my neck.

00:52I always asked my parents to stay in the movie theater all day during the summer.

00:56I love summers because I love summer blockbusters.

00:59Movies are my love language.

01:00I feel like I'm getting a chance to do the thing I've always wanted to do.'"

01:04Glenn shared that his parents gave him the greatest gift of letting him chase his passions.

01:10He said,

01:11"'If I was sitting in the outfield picking dandelions and thinking, yeah, I'm not really

01:15sure I'm meant for baseball, they let me give it up.

01:18I'm just really grateful to my parents for not trying to deter me from a job that has

01:22such a low success rate.'"

01:24Perhaps as a small thank you, Glenn's parents make a cameo in Twisters.

01:28He told us,

01:29"'They're behind me in the rodeo scene.

01:31They got quite a few frames in this movie, some good screen time.'"

01:35Now if a tornado were to come to Powell City, he revealed the first thing he would save

01:40is his dog, Brisket, whom he adopted last July while filming the movie.

01:44He noted that the terrier poodle mix kept the cast and crew company while he was busy

01:49shooting and that Brisket is a real lover and has such a special personality.
