Isang komite ng Senado, pinagkokomento ng SC sa petisyong inihain ni suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo
Transcript
00:00The Supreme Court ordered a committee of the Senate to comment on the petition submitted by suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo
00:08regarding her violation of the Senate's orders.
00:12This is what Louisa Erispe reported.
00:16After submitting the petition to the Supreme Court of the suspended Bamban-Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo
00:22so that they won't be forced to violate the Senate's orders,
00:25the Supreme Court already responded to Guo, but instead of a temporary restraining order or writ of injunction,
00:32the Supreme Court just issued the highest sentence.
00:35The respondents of the petition, the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, commented.
00:43The court required the respondent Senate Committee to file its comment to the petition and prayer for TRO
00:49within a non-acceptable period of 10 days from November.
00:54Aside from this, the SC submitted to the committee a resolution requiring Guo to personally attend the hearings in the Senate.
01:02The SC did not explain why they did not issue the TRO.
01:07But they said that the request for a comment is part of the court's process.
01:12This does not mean that the TRO will not issue the TRO or that Guo's request was not immediately granted.
01:19The court is just following its due process.
01:22But if the SC is asking for a comment, the respondent of Guo's petition, the Commission on Elections,
01:29said that Guo is the one they're asking for a comment.
01:33This is contrary to their investigation into Guo's possible violation of the election law when he ran as a candidate in 2022.
01:42What will be the decision of our law department, the investigating panel?
01:45You can expect that whoever is the respondent, we will let them answer first.
01:50At the time of the completion of the investigation and the acceptance of the findings of the Commission by Guo's camp,
01:56Guo will be given five days to answer.
02:00But if he cannot answer, it is possible that Guo will decide if he will be charged with a criminal case or violation of the Omnibus Election Code.
02:09If he doesn't want to answer, there's nothing we can do because we gave him a chance to answer.
02:15Komelec clarified that even though they're hastening their investigation, they're not prioritizing the investigation of other agencies.
02:23What's important is that the issue is clear before the candidacy for the 2025 elections comes again.
02:31We're not prioritizing other government agencies, the DOJ, the Office of the Solicitor General, or the court.
02:38We just want this matter to be clear before filing the candidacy.
02:45At the same time, we also know if there's a misrepresentation.
02:48Komelec said that they're expecting the results of their investigation to be released next week to Guo,
02:55including the fingerprint analysis of the Commission.
