00:00So, Penny, obviously, we're on the back of Wimbledon 2024. Obviously, Alcraz retaining
00:09the title there. There's not many who have actually done that in the Open era. It's quite
00:14a fantastic achievement. Firstly, let's just touch on the tournament as a whole. Obviously,
00:19some days were sort of rained off and fans had to bear with, but the tennis eventually
00:26was fantastic as always.
00:28Yeah, it was a bit of a damp squib in the beginning. I mean, there wasn't huge, huge
00:32delays, but still, I think the atmosphere was a little bit, when the weather's not so
00:36great, it's a bit, you know, miserable around the grounds, a little bit grey. But I was
00:41there on day two. And that was the day that Andy Murray was supposed to play. And I could
00:46not believe the number of people on site. I don't think I've ever seen it that busy,
00:50like the outside courts. You know, they had six, seven lines of people trying to peer
00:56into every single match. I saw Mazzetti's first match outside and you just couldn't
01:01even get from A to B without having to squish past people.
01:05And obviously, the man of the moment, Carlos Alcraz, just an incredible achievement. He's
01:12obviously come out and said he wants to sit among the big boys by the end of his career.
01:16He's obviously only 21. He's, you know, well, he's won these before 21 or younger. It's
01:23just an incredible achievement. And also the improvement from last year's final. Obviously,
01:27it was a lot closer last year. Yes, Djokovic, wasn't it, is full from this time round, but
01:32he still, you know, showed how important it is. And also, you know, on top of that, the
01:37Roland Garros and Wimbledon double as well. Quite a remarkable season so far. And this
01:42Wimbledon was fantastic for him.
01:45I think it's unbelievable what he's done. Not only has he defended the title, beating
01:51Novak Djokovic both times, and Alcraz didn't give him any breathing space either. And I
01:56think, you know, that first game was a summary and a snapshot of the match. Very, very difficult
02:02for Novak, but unbelievable effort from Alcraz to retain the Wimbledon title at 21. And also
02:09back, you know, from Roland Garros at Wimbledon, it looks like he will be one of the tennis
02:14greats, but you just don't know how tennis is going to work. You have to keep up the
02:18training, the motivation years, you know, year on year. And it also depends on injuries
02:24that we've seen players like Del Potro, 21, won a slam. He would have been one of the
02:28greats as well, but then injury got to him.
02:30Yeah, I'm not at all worried about Djokovic until he's worried. I mean, last year he lost
02:35Wimbledon and he was apparently so mad at himself. He didn't lose another match until,
02:40what was it, until the Davis Cup, when he had those match points against Sinner. And
02:44I think that was probably a big blow for him, but I think we just have to wait for
02:49it to play out. And that's why people play the matches and because you can't ever predict
02:54what's really going to happen. We just have to wait and see how the rest of the season
02:58and next year unfolds.
