00:00It is fundamental that the countries of the G7 have a common policy, a strong collaboration
00:11in order to face the main challenges to international trade.
00:16It is fundamental that the countries of the G7 have a particular focus on the challenge
00:20related to the growth of the GDP, which, although it was 2.7% in 2023, is in decline
00:29compared to 3.2% in the previous year, and in any case for the coming years it will act
00:34around 3%, demonstrating substantially the need for a common effort.
00:38But in addition to the challenge of the growth of the GDP, there are all geopolitical movements
00:44with an impact on supply sources, on the need for a diversification of
00:50supply sources, it imposes a series of common policies on the whole issue of transition,
00:56both the energy one and the digital one.
00:58All these challenges, transitions, growth of the GDP, geopolitical impact on supply,
01:05require a strong leadership of the countries of the G7 to find common solutions,
01:09on the one hand to support consumption and, on the other, to promote direct investments as much as possible.
01:15The pandemic and all the international shocks, including the inflationary trends of the last year,
01:21have demonstrated the vulnerability of the global value chains.
01:26And here it is essential to reinforce the resilience of the value chains through three main actions.
01:35The first fundamental is the diversification of supply sources.
01:39It is necessary to be sure that there is a minor dependence on some economies,
01:44perhaps not on the market, and on some industrial sectors.
01:48The second fundamental action to make resilience of the value chains
01:52is to increase international collaboration.
01:55Increasing international collaboration means facilitating the development policies
02:01of multilateral agreements, the inclusion of developing countries in the process
02:06of collaboration and development of commercial initiatives.
02:11The third fundamental action for the resilience of the value chains
02:16is the growth of global direct investments,
02:19which have substantially suffered a decrease in recent years.
02:23In particular, in the last year, direct foreign investments have been in a decrease of 2%,
02:32and this certainly does not help the growth of the attention of developing countries
02:39within international trade and does not facilitate the strengthening of infrastructure.
02:44So, direct investments, multilateral collaboration and diversification of supply sources
02:51are the three main actions to make the chains of global value more resilient and sustainable.
