00:06Commissioner Donny Rightside is
00:09here. You mentioned from the
00:10very start of the show DRS, the
00:12changes you would make to bring
00:14back the juice to the home run
00:16Derby. What are they? Look,
00:18it's a couple simple ones here
00:19and it doesn't have to be, you
00:21know, ridiculousness because I
00:22can put that commissioners cap
00:23on and I go down that NBA pass
00:25saying, you know what? We're
00:26going to vote on who we want to
00:27be in the slam dunk competition.
00:29It's Anthony Edwards and a
00:30couple other superstars that
00:31you want to see Giannis and
00:32LeBron James goes. Well, I'm
00:33healthy. I don't want to play
00:34in it and then I go. Okay.
00:35What's a 10 game suspension? No
00:37pay outside the all-star break
00:38because you don't want to
00:39compete in it. Now granted I
00:40like that train of thought and
00:41I would support that but I know
00:43most people wouldn't but it's a
00:44simple Major League Baseball
00:45and sometimes it's not actually
00:47the issue as I said from a
00:48Major League Baseball level not
00:50talking about the players
00:51itself from upper management
00:52ownership and certainly the
00:54league and the commissioner's
00:55office. It's a simple fact that
00:56I call it like the Mike Trout
00:58analogy for baseball baseball
01:00has a lot of superstars, but
01:02it's up to the superstars to
01:03market themselves baseball does
01:05a terrible job itself and also
01:07the players as well. Have you
01:08ever checked out like the feeds
01:10from let's just say social
01:11media for NBA players compared
01:12to Major League Baseball players.
01:13It's non-existent like follow
01:15your average superstar. He
01:16might tweet once a month that
01:17says hey buy a protein powder
01:19from this place and you never
01:20hear from him again. So Mike
01:22Trout was the face of Major
01:23League Baseball. What did he
01:24say? Yeah, you know what?
01:25That's all fine and good. Don't
01:26put me on commercials. I don't
01:27want to speak out about it. I
01:28just want to like live my own
01:29life and be fine with it.
01:30That's part of the issue. But
01:31number two would be help the
01:32players out as well. What did
01:33we talk about yesterday Tom
01:34Vecchio came on we're hitting
01:35the same highlights here open
01:37the roof. It's a hundred
01:38degrees. That means the baseball
01:40is going to travel further
01:41which means more home runs at a
01:43bigger distance is that we want
01:44to see number two you money is
01:46not really an object anymore in
01:48the dunk competition and Major
01:49League Baseball. You're not
01:50going to tell Tony. Hey if you
01:51win this will give you two
01:52million dollars like look I
01:53make that on interest on a day
01:54to day basis. Why am I going
01:56out there. But also number
01:57three I'm assuming they're
01:59still quirking the bats and
02:00having the juice baseballs at
02:01that point. But the
02:02participation needs to rise and
02:04we need just to have better
02:05competition now to change the
02:07competition. You saw it last
02:09night. Hey they're hitting home
02:10runs here they're hitting home
02:11runs there change the rule
02:12altogether. Do you know who
02:13wins the competition Ben who
02:15hits the most home runs who
02:16hits the farthest home run.
02:18That's the winner. One goes
02:20525 feet. I only hit four of
02:22them while he was trying to
02:23swing from his heels. People
02:24want to see distance out there
02:25and absolute bombs. So if
02:27you're going to have guys like
02:28Alec Bone with a sweet swing
02:30just making over the fence
02:31that's not fun anymore. Let's
02:32do things that were so enjoyable
02:34just a few years back when
02:35Sanchez and Stanton and Aaron
02:37Judge were knocking baseballs
02:38off the back wall in Miami.
02:41That's fun. It's a simple
02:42change. Instead of hitting home
02:44runs there just give me the
02:45distance. The guy with the
02:47longest distance he wins home
02:49run derby. People would enjoy
02:50that because no longer are you
02:52saving yourself and calling
02:53timeouts because you're tied
02:55your only goal is to hit a
02:56baseball as far as humanly
02:58possible. That's fun to watch.
