00:16Well, here's another one that's in some discussion that has been kicked around, and that is a
00:24six inning minimum starting pitcher rule, potentially, that would be added.
00:30Now, we know the deal here now.
00:32You've got teams that do openers, that guys go for an inning, guys go for this, starters
00:39go four innings.
00:40Now, they wouldn't make the guy sit out there for six innings if he's getting smashed, obviously,
00:47or if he gets hurt.
00:48There are some things that can happen that would allow you to take your starter out before
00:53six innings, if he throws 100 pitches, if he gives up four or more earned runs, if he
00:57gets injured.
00:58But for the most part, Scotty, they want to get back to having starting pitchers actually
01:03be starting pitchers again.
01:06Well, listen, I have my reservations about this.
01:11The reality is this, is that pitchers today in Major League Baseball average five and
01:17a third.
01:19If you go back 40 years to, like, 84, they went six and a third.
01:30So I mean, that's a gigantic difference in how long starters lasted in the games.
01:37I think pitching now is kind of candy ass.
01:41You're lucky if a guy goes five and a third.
01:46You're lucky if you get a guy that gets through the fifth.
01:50It's a miracle when you got a guy out on the mound, you're like, oh, geez, you think you'll
01:55get five innings so he can get a win?
01:57Like guys can't even make it out of the fourth inning.

02:04I never, how are they going to leave some guy in for six innings?

02:59And then they take the night off, hit the showers, eat some sunflower seeds.
