00:00Why are they so good on the road, and they've been so average at Fenway, and they have been
00:09the best team in baseball over the last month?
00:12Yeah, it's a good question, and I think it's just kind of one of those fluky baseball things.
00:19I don't think there's really a reason for it.
00:22I mean, you could certainly say that at Fenway, the crowd fan support has not been as raucous,
00:30as loud as maybe it's been in past years, and so it's a little tougher to get up for
00:37those games.
00:38Not to make any excuses, obviously, these guys are professionals, you've got to go out
00:42and deliver, but I think just sort of as we get farther along in sports, and maybe this
00:48sort of turned with the bubble during COVID times, you know, in the NBA, or in the first
00:54year for, be it Major League Baseball, NHL, and NFL as well, where there were no fans
01:00in the stands for many of those being outdoor games other than NHL.
01:03I think it sort of removed home field, home court, home ice advantage in a lot of ways
01:09going forward.
01:10I don't know why it hasn't really followed, but I think if you look at a lot of the splits
01:14for a lot of teams, playoffs, whatever it may be, since then, it just sort of feels
01:19like it's gone.
01:21And so, I don't know what exactly to attribute it to, to the Red Sox.
01:27Some teams say that, hey, we get to go on the road, we're out of our own beds, out of
01:32our own houses, distractions, wives, kids, it's just, you know, boys on the road, bonding,
01:37and we're close-knit and having a good time, and it brings us together, and so we sort
01:41of rally around that as well.
01:43I don't know if that's the case with the Red Sox, or if that's just a cliché sort
01:48of thing, but you can't argue with the results, like you said.
01:50They have been, especially compared to expectation, pretty incredible over the last month, month
01:56and a half.
01:57Going to the break hot, they're, you know, never mind in a playoff position in terms
02:01of a wildcard spot right now, they're in striking distance to actually win the division.
02:06They're only four and a half back right now, and that's, I mean, nobody, even at the highest
02:11levels of the Red Sox, nobody could have possibly envisioned that going into this season, and
02:17I think there are a lot of people, honestly, over at Fenway who are probably pretty unhappy
02:20about it because they had no interest in spending on this team in the offseason, and now they
02:26may have pushed ownership and management in the front office to the point of having to
02:31invest in this team at the trade deadline in a couple of weeks.
