PRE SONA 2024: Pilipinas, hindi nagpatinag sa pangha-harass ng mga barko ng Tsina sa West Philippine Sea
Transcript
00:00In spite of the various harassments from China in the West Philippine Sea,
00:06the government did not allow the right to our territory to be violated.
00:11The whole detail in the words of Patrick de Jesus.
00:24The resupply mission near the BRP Sierra Madre in Ayuninshol
00:29on June 17 by the people of the Philippine Navy and the China Coast Guard.
00:35The China Coast Guard pointed a gun,
00:39opened the rigid hull inflatable boat or RID of our Navy,
00:43and took the weapons of the Filipino soldiers.
00:47The Philippine Navy's RID was also searched and investigated by the CCG.
00:53Because of the harassment of the China Coast Guard,
00:55one of the Filipino soldiers was cut by a knife.
01:00He is Seaman First Class Underwater Operator Jeffrey Facundo,
01:05a member of the Naval Special Operations Command.
01:08The incident is considered the most violent,
01:12that's why the AFP called the people of the China Coast Guard barbaric and pirates.
01:18We are demanding that the Chinese return our rifles and our equipment.
01:27And we are also demanding from them to pay for the damages that they have caused.
01:33They will pay for it just like the pirates who did their actions.
01:39This is not the only harassment done by China in the West Philippine Sea.
01:49In March, the China Coast Guard's ships helped to water-cannon the civilian resupply vessel Unais-a-Mei.
01:56The reason is to destroy its main ship and hit some of our troops.
02:02Just two weeks after this, some soldiers were injured again
02:06because of the clumsy water-cannon of the CCG ships.
02:11In Kasagsaganang Rore, Patungong Ayungin Shoal,
02:14the last paratroop mission on May 19, was not forgiven by the China Coast Guard.
02:21In Kasagsaganang Rore, Patungong Ayungin Shoal,
02:27the last paratroop mission on May 19, was not forgiven by the China Coast Guard.
02:32And some of the supplies were stolen for the Filipino soldiers.
02:37Medical evacuation was also stopped for one of the injured soldiers from BRP Sierra Madre.
02:50Help! Help!
02:56The China Coast Guard's water-cannon also stopped the ships of BIFAR and Philippine Coast Guard
03:01from carrying out the humanitarian mission in April
03:05in the Philippine mines in Baode Masinlok and Panatang Shoal.
03:09Despite this, the government did not listen.
03:13Being an ordinary Filipino,
03:15he fought for the rights of the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea
03:20like the organized civilian convoy of various groups in Baode Masinlok.
03:25President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. encouraged the remaining professionals of the country
03:31to fight for the rights of the Philippines in our territory.
03:38We are not in the business to instigate wars.
03:42Our great ambition is to provide a peaceful and prosperous life for every Filipino.
03:49This is the drumbeat.
03:51This is the principle that we live by and that we march by.
03:57We refuse to play by the rules that force us to choose sides in a great power competition.
04:05No government that truly exists in the service of the people
04:10will invite danger or harm to lives and livelihood.
04:14And that is why in defending the nation,
04:17we stay true to our Filipino nature
04:20that we would like to settle all these issues peacefully.
04:24But at the same time, we stand firm.
04:29Our calm and peaceful disposition should not be mistaken for acquiescence.
04:36History itself can tell that we have never,
04:40never in the history of the Philippines yielded to any foreign power.
04:48We owe to our forefathers the duty to keep the freedoms
04:52that they fought, bled and died for
04:56and that we presently enjoy.
04:58We will never allow anyone to insult us.
05:05In the President's visit to the IISS-Siangrila Dialogue 2024 in Singapore last May,
05:11he emphasized in front of the international community
05:15that the imaginary line has no basis
05:19and in accordance with international law,
05:22the right of the nation in the West Philippine Sea.
05:26We have on our side the 1982 UNCLOS
05:29and the binding 2016 Arbitral Award
05:32which affirms what is ours by legal right.
05:36In this solid footing and through our clear moral ascendancy,
05:40we find the strength to do whatever it takes to protect our sovereign home
05:44to the last square inch to the last square millimeter.
05:49The life-giving waters of the West Philippine Sea
05:52flow in the blood of every Filipino.
05:55We cannot allow anyone to detach it from the totality of the maritime domain
06:00that renders our nation whole.
06:11As President, I have sworn to this solemn commitment
06:15from the very first day that I took office.
06:17I do not intend to yield.
06:19Filipinos do not yield.
06:22As a rising commander-in-chief,
06:24the President first instructed the military to prepare
06:28and deal with any external threats
06:32so that modernization continues in the use
06:35and capability of our armed forces.
06:38Despite this, the approach to internal threats
06:43that the government continues to face is not neglected.
06:47One of the things that the Marcos Jr. Administration continued
06:51is the whole-of-government approach against insurgency
06:55through the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict or NTF-ELCA.
07:01According to the AFP, only seven guerrilla fronts have fallen
07:06from the previous 11 since President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. took office.
07:13In addition to the AFP, no foreign terrorist has been monitored in the country
07:18after the two leaders were neutralized
07:21while the local terrorist groups have been weakened.
07:25But this will not deter the government
07:29and will continue to be vigilant.
07:32Patrick Deesus for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
