00:25He also works to protect the environment by throwing plastic bottles at places like Delhi and other places.
00:34He has done a unique thing by collecting plastic bottles and planting plants in them.
00:44He started donating to people and made them aware of the importance of plants in the protection of the environment.
00:52We will talk to Mr. Ashish Kumar about the harm he is causing to the environment by throwing plastic bottles at places like Delhi and other places.
01:00Sir, welcome to ETV Bharat.
01:03Thank you very much.
01:04I wish all the viewers a very happy and prosperous year ahead.
01:10Sir, first of all, I would like to know where you are from and how long have you been working in Delhi Police?
01:17Since when have you been donating blood and where did you get the inspiration from?
01:22I am from Sishana, a village in Sonipat district of Haryana, which is a historical and religious village.
01:32I joined the Delhi Police in 2012.
01:37I got the inspiration to donate blood in 2003 when I saw someone suffering from a blood shortage.
01:46When I saw someone suffering from a blood shortage, my heart was also disturbed.
01:51From there, I started learning about this and started working in this field.
01:57This campaign has been going on since then and today it has come to the point that I have donated 138 times.
02:06Secondly, I would like to know whether your family supports or opposes your donation?
02:14What were the initial situations you were in?
02:18You have asked me a question that I will have to answer with a smile.
02:24There was a time when I was not married and when I donated blood, my mother used to say that if you donate blood, I will throw you out of the house.
02:32You should eat roti where you have donated blood.
02:35There was a time when my mother was not aware of this and then she got to know about it.
02:42My friends and my elders joined this campaign.
02:46Then they started telling me about the benefits of donating blood and how precious the lives of others are.
02:56My mother also joined this campaign and she has donated blood nine times so far.
03:02Who are the other people in your family who donate blood?
03:06How did you motivate them to donate blood?
03:11I did not motivate anyone.
03:13This is the truth.
03:15Because I understand and you also understand that no one believes in telling.
03:21People only believe when they see.
03:24When we were doing this work regularly, my family and my friends and relatives were also watching it.
03:33I have been supporting them the most.
03:36After seeing them, my family members also started donating blood.
03:42And just like that, my wife has also donated blood 16 times.
03:50Speaking of awareness, how do you appeal to people?
03:56How do you make them aware?
03:57Many people believe that donating blood can harm the body.
04:03What is the reality of all this?
04:05Because you have donated blood so many times.
04:07Did it have any bad effect on your health or did it not have any effect at all?
04:10Or do you stay healthy?
04:12How do you see it?
04:15There are many things.
04:17No work done by following the rules is harmful for us.
04:22Everyone has their own limits.
04:25We should stay connected to culture and traditions.
04:29If you donate blood illegally, it will definitely be harmful for you.
04:36And not just blood donation, you can do any work, be it eating, sleeping, or any other work,
04:41which is not done by following the rules, it will be harmful.
04:46What do we do for this?
04:48In schools, colleges, corporate offices, or any other place where we get time,
04:53we tell people about the benefits of donating blood.
04:57Our country is a country of youth.
05:00Still, there is a shortage of blood here.
05:03If even 1% of the youth donate blood,
05:06who are between the ages of 18 and 60,
05:09there will be no shortage of blood.
05:11There are so many pregnant women in our country.
05:14There are so many children who are suffering from epilepsy.
05:16There are people who are injured in road accidents.
05:19Or there are soldiers who are stationed at the border to protect us.
05:24All of them need blood.
05:26By giving an example of all of them,
05:29we request the public to come and donate clean blood.
05:35The meaning of clean blood donation is to donate with your own will.
05:38Anyone can do it for their loved ones.
05:41Someone in my family needs it.
05:43My friends and relatives need it.
05:45Anyone can do it for them.
05:47But we encourage people to donate clean blood.
05:50Because neither the recipient nor the donor knows about clean blood.
05:54So, we go to different places and run campaigns.
05:57We are also running campaigns on social media.
06:00Apart from that, journalists like you
06:04can also participate in our campaigns on TV channels, print media,
06:10or other platforms.
06:12This is how our campaign is moving forward.
06:16I was talking about health.
06:17What is the impact of blood donation on your health?
06:21Do you feel fit or do you have any weakness?
06:26I am as I am on camera.
06:28I have not put on any make-up.
06:31I have not put on any artificial thing.
06:33I am as I am in front of you.
06:35Even after doing blood donation 138 times,
06:38you all can see the happiness on my face.
06:43I have been on duty for 12 hours continuously.
06:47I have been on duty even after I have been on duty continuously.
06:49But there has been no negative impact on my health till date.
06:53I have already told you that
06:56there is a rule for every task.
06:58There is a rule for drinking water.
07:00There is a rule for eating food.
07:02Similarly, there is a rule for blood donation.
07:05If you donate whole blood,
07:08you should keep at least 3 months interval.
07:12But if you are a Kshatriya,
07:15you should keep at least 4 months interval.
07:18I am not saying this because medical science,
07:21our doctors have found this after research.
07:25You should do blood donation after a certain period of time.
07:27Apart from this, you should regularly exercise
07:30and eat nutritious food.
07:35You will never feel weak.
07:38You are working for environmental protection.
07:46Where did you get this inspiration and what did you do?
07:50I did not know what environmental protection is.
07:55When I was a child, there was flood in our village.
07:58The water level of the flood reached the village where we used to gather.
08:03We were small children.
08:05I asked my grandfather,
08:07where did this water come from?
08:09He told me that
08:11there was a tree on the river bank.
08:13It was cut off.
08:15The river bank was cut off from there.
08:17So, this water came.
08:18I could not understand what he meant.
08:20What is the connection between water and tree?
08:23A child has a lot of curiosity.
08:25He asks a lot of questions.
08:26I am like that.
08:27I asked him a lot of questions.
08:30I kept a book in front of him.
08:32My grandfather gave me a lot of answers.
08:34He explained to me in a very simple way.
08:36There are trees on the river bank.
08:39The roots of the trees tie the soil like thread.
08:44Whether the trees were cut off or not,
08:46they were cut off from there.
08:48As the river bank was being cut off,
08:50the water from it came into the village.
08:53I asked him what is the solution to save from this flood.
08:57He told me to plant a tree.
08:59Where should I plant it?
09:00Should I plant it on the river bank?
09:01No, you are young.
09:02Don't go to the river.
09:03You will drown.
09:04So, where should I plant it?
09:05He told me to plant it anywhere.
09:05Then I broke a small tree trunk and planted it somewhere.
09:11I started watering it.
09:12It was not a big tree.
09:14My grandfather saw that this child watered it every day.
09:17What is he doing?
09:18Then he taught me how to plant trees.
09:20Press the seed, put soil on it and water it.
09:23The campaign started from there.
09:25Today, it has grown so big.
09:29We have turned it into a tree that we used to plant when we were young.
09:34The second thing is about environmental protection.
09:37Not only trees are needed for environmental protection,
09:40but it is also very important that pollution is not spread.
09:44I got a posting at the India Gate.
09:47At the India Gate, I saw that people come from outside for sightseeing.
09:52What do they do?
09:53They drink water and throw away the bottles.
09:55They eat food and throw away the plastic containers.
09:57They throw away other disposable plastic containers.
10:01I was sad.
10:03I saw that people are coming from abroad.
10:06People are coming from all over the country.
10:08How dirty will they feel?
10:10The cleaning system there was so good that the cleaners
10:15are regularly there.
10:17They do not spread pollution.
10:19But still, for a few seconds or a few moments, pollution has spread there.
10:22What would I have done?
10:24I would have picked up the bottles from there and collected them at one place.
10:28When I collected them, it was the rainy season.
10:31I filled them with some soil.
10:34Someone had eaten the fruits and threw away the seeds.
10:38Like the seeds of jamun, berries, or dates.
10:41I put those seeds in them.
10:42There were some flowering plants.
10:44I broke their stems and put them in them.
10:46When those plants grew, the whole nursery was ready.
10:49I was worried that so many plants have grown.
10:52What should I do?
10:54There are many people who come to celebrate their birthdays at night.
10:58There are many people who come for sightseeing.
11:01At night, on duty, I would see people who come to celebrate their birthdays.
11:05I would give them a plant.
11:07Or people who come for sightseeing,
11:09if someone asks for directions or something else,
11:11I would give them a plant.
11:13In the same way, my nursery's problem was solved.
11:17The plants started growing.
11:18In return, I got those bottles and containers.
11:23It would be easier to keep them there,
11:26because I got a place to keep them.
11:27After that, if someone is getting married,
11:30or has a birthday,
11:32or if there is some other occasion,
11:33I started distributing those plants.
11:36My wife supported me in that.
11:39We both husband and wife started distributing them.
11:43But what happens is,
11:44our work does not go well with them.
11:46Now, we have to plant a lot of trees in the monsoon season.
11:51For that, we have to get the support of our social workers,
11:55who have made their own nurseries.
11:58This was our mission for the environment.
12:01So, how are you making people aware of environmental protection now?
12:05Do you give them plants?
12:06What are you doing now?
12:08Now, we are doing this.
12:10Government nurseries,
12:12or our other colleagues,
12:15who have made their own nurseries,
12:17we take plants from them.
12:19We go to your village,
12:20to your office,
12:22and plant trees there.
12:24We get a promise from them,
12:26that we will protect our plants ourselves,
12:29until they are at least 5-6 years old.
12:31This is how we are planting trees.
12:33What is the response of your colleagues,
12:40your employees,
12:41and your bosses to your good work?
12:43You have asked a very good question.
12:47My department officials,
12:49or my co-workers,
12:51everyone is supporting me in this.
12:54Our senior officials have done this many times,
12:59to help us move forward in our missions,
13:01and they do it regularly.
13:03When they call us to the stage,
13:06and when I say it in your language,
13:07they give us respect,
13:08and when I say it in my language,
13:10they give us blessings.
13:11Our senior officials,
13:13they keep their hands on our waist,
13:15or shake our hands.
13:16They give us a lot of encouragement,
13:18and it gives us a lot of energy.
13:19When our employees donate blood,
13:24or when they plant trees,
13:25and send a selfie or a photo video,
13:28it gives me a lot of energy.
13:30I hope that my senior officials,
13:34or my co-workers,
13:35keep supporting me in this way.
13:39You were listening to Ashish Dhaiya,
13:41he told us how he started Rakta Daan,
13:45and how he started environmental protection.
13:47With Sandeep Singh,
13:48for ETV Bharat,
13:49I am Dhananjay Verma from Delhi.
