00:35One said, they will reduce the use of appliances to save on electricity.

00:40Another said, they will use candles as lights and open windows so they won't use air conditioning.

00:47Another said, they will wash the dishes to avoid using a washing machine

00:52and save time on using a television.

00:55And if you don't have a refrigerator, remove it.

01:00That's the only thing we discarded so we can save money.

01:04We will save on electricity because it's getting cold.

01:08And we will avoid using a television because we have a cellphone.

01:12The rate hike is affecting not only the households but also the business.

01:16Sales in Louisa's store are already low.

01:19She earns around 5,000 to 6,000 pesos per month from Meralko's bill.

01:24Her position is only one from their three stores before the COVID pandemic.

01:29Because the electricity bill is too high.

01:32Generation Charge is the biggest bug in the rate hike,

01:35as well as the increase in transmission charge, electricity bill, and more.

01:39Because of that, the total electricity rate this July

01:42increased from 11 pesos and 60 centavos to 9 pesos and 45 centavos last June.

01:48Meralko said that the June billing is only going down

01:51because of the order of the Energy Regulatory Commission

01:53to make a four-month installment that should have been increased last June.

01:58So for the July billing, the deferred payment of 77 centavos per kilowatt hour

02:03will be charged to the electric bill every month from June to September.

02:07We have a disclaimer as early as last month

02:11that when July comes, anticipate a big increase

02:17because the cost of electricity will return to the previous normal level

02:22plus the fixed deferred cost.

02:26The electricity rates depend on the consumption of electricity.

02:29If your consumption is more than 200 kilowatt hours per month,

02:33the charge will be higher.

02:35The electric bill will be charged 430 pesos

02:38for those who consume 200 kilowatt hours per month,

02:41860 pesos for those who consume 400 kilowatt hours per month,

02:46and more than 1,000 pesos for those who consume 500 kilowatt hours per month.
