Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) requires at least 20,000 CCTV cameras installed throughout the capital to monitor crime and traffic congestion.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the installation cannot be undertaken solely by DBKL but requires the cooperation of various ministries, departments and agencies, especially the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

00:08JATANG KUASA KESELAMATAN JALAN RAYA
00:16JATANG KUASA KESELAMATAN JALAN RAYA
00:28Some findings have been made by the PDRM
00:34showing that the rate of road accidents
00:38has increased by 6.83%
00:43and this is very, very bad.
00:48So, we have made several measures
00:55where we found that the mortality rate
01:00among motorcyclists is the highest.
01:05And for that, we will ensure
01:11that a few steps are taken
01:15to ensure that this accident can be reduced.
01:22The second thing is about the speed limit
01:26in the school area.
01:28Because of the mortality rate in the school area,
01:32the average mortality rate is 67 deaths
01:38per year in the school area.
01:41What has been proposed by JATANG KUASA
01:43is to reduce the speed limit
01:46to 30 kilometers per hour
01:50in the school area.
01:53And also Monggol
01:57will be prepared
02:00without involving additional regulations
02:02from any ministries,
02:04but the PBT and the school
02:09can work together to do it.
02:14The third thing is about
02:19the installation of CCTV cameras
02:24throughout Raya.
02:27Currently, there are 5,000 CCTV cameras
02:35to monitor road accidents and safety.
02:41And we believe that the installation of CCTV cameras
02:45must be done in a non-siloed manner.
02:51Now, the city government is responsible
02:57to find a way to install, monitor
03:01and conduct surveillance.
03:04But JATANG KUASA suggests
03:06that other ministries, offices and agencies
03:10must also be involved, especially the PDRM,
03:13which is the criminal investigation department.
03:22And it is important for us
03:26that DBKL and the agency
03:30need at least 20,000 CCTV cameras.
03:35And in the 13th Raya,
03:41this effort must be carried out.
03:44We learn from Smart City and Safe City
03:51in other countries.
03:53With the high definition facial recognition CCTV,
03:58the crime rate can be reduced,
04:01the road accidents can be reduced,
04:06and the surveillance can be reduced
04:11without violating the rights of individuals.
04:16But this is a step in modern policing
04:20that JATANG KUASA is doing
04:23to reduce the omnipresence
04:26of uniformed officers and officers.
04:31So, we have suggested these steps.
04:36And we also suggested the issue of
04:38the investigation of the traffic accidents
04:42in Bandar Raya Johor Bahru.
04:44Because in 2027, the RTS will be prepared,
04:48then the plan for the JB train
04:53will be synchronized by the Ministry of Transport
04:57and several other ministries.
04:59And the investigation must be carried out immediately
05:03for the reduction of traffic accidents in this Raya.
05:07So, a few steps have been taken.
05:10And cooperation between state governments
05:12and ministries and departments at the national level
05:16has been suggested to be carried out
05:20before the implementation of the reduction
05:24after the RTS is prepared.
