00:00We have an update from Director Edgar Posada, spokesperson of the Office of Civil Defense. Good evening Director Posada. This is Dominic Almelor of BTV Ulatbayan Weekend.
00:13Hi sir Don. Good evening. Good evening to all the viewers who are listening to the program.
00:20Director, where are the particular areas that are flooded in Mindanao?
00:25These are the areas. This is a region that is in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Region 9, Region 10, 11, and 12.
00:41But the region with the most flooding due to the southwest monsoon is Region 9, Zamboanga Peninsula.
00:50Director, how is the evacuation of affected areas?
00:56Yes. For the four regions that I mentioned, we have evacuation centers totaling 54, sir Dom.
01:08This is the most in Region 9, followed by Region 10 and all the regions in Region 12.
01:19So a total of 54 evacuation centers and catering to 2,687 families or 9,973, sir Dom.
01:29We have 99 families of 493 living outside evacuation centers as of this time, sir Dom.
01:37Director, is it confirmed that there are five deaths and some are still missing, director?
01:43Yes. We just received confirmation that there are five confirmed in the week, as confirmed by our regional office of arms.
02:01Those are in two provinces and we are still verifying that four are missing.
02:14Director, is there a preliminary assessment as to the importance of housing and government infrastructure, even in agriculture, director?
02:23As of now, sir Dom, it's ongoing. There are still flooded areas in the farm. There are eight and two.
02:34There are ten areas with flooding as of a few minutes ago when I confirmed with our OCD farm office.
02:41There are six that are either subsided or receding.
02:46Earlier, our OCD regional office of arms received assistance and they assisted the concerned local governments,
02:57as well as Special Assistant to the President, Secretary Lagdameo.
03:03We were told that Sec. Rex Salian was also there during the meeting to assess the situation and how we can provide assistance to the flood victims.
03:22Director, what exactly are the assistance that the government provided to the flood victims, director?
03:29What we provided are the usual food and non-food items, family packs. We are working closely.
03:39The OCD in the farm is working closely with FarmReady, their main agency when it comes to disaster response and early recovery.
03:55We're working closely with them and they are providing assistance.
04:01If needed, our OCD regional office of arms, based in Cotabato City, is ready to provide assistance.
04:11Director, in your monitoring, there are still floods in Mindanao. What are the reminders to our countrymen there?
04:19Yes. Southwest monsoon is still prevailing. Like the farm dumps, from June, they have intertropical convergence zone until July 10 and July 11.
04:40This is the southwest monsoon. We want to warn our countrymen there, especially those near waterways, rivers and those located near mountains.
04:59Because it has been raining for a long time, the land is saturated with water and it is possible for landslides to occur.
05:09If needed, if we are invited to go abroad, we should do that so we can be safer.
05:17Of course, your OCD in the farm is working closely with FarmReady, the farm government, to make sure that they can provide the necessary assistance if needed.
05:35All right. Thank you very much Director Edgar Posada, spokesperson of the Office of Civil Defense. Good evening sir.
