00:00You and I have not spoken since that offer from the L.A. Lakers.
00:04Ultimately, what did that come down to?
00:06I mean, that's a storied franchise.
00:08Ultimately, why did you say yes to UConn and not yes to the Lakers?
00:14I think, you know, for me, there's always a lot of things to consider.
00:20You know, there's like family, family considerations,
00:25and your own personal happiness, like what's going to make you happy and your family happy
00:33in terms of your lifestyle.
00:36And, you know, it couldn't be better right now for my wife and kids or, you know, for
00:44my dad, you know, who's getting older, who's able to, you know, come to all of our games,
00:50whether it's Big East tournament or, you know, just Big East games or what have you.
00:56So there's a lot of family considerations.
00:59And then, you know, what I love about being a college coach is, you know, you're everything
01:05for your program.
01:07You know, I get to pick the players.
01:09I hire the staff.
01:11I do the scheduling.
01:13You know, I set curfew.
01:14I decide what the player's going to eat, when they're going to sleep, how hard we're going
01:18to practice, our style of play.
01:20I think, you know, there's obviously things have changed in the landscape of college athletics,
01:26but the one thing I do love about it is I can control.
01:31I've got really, really strong control over whether I'm successful or not.
