Yahoo! Sports writer talks Oregon's path to a national championship with Jim Rome.

00:00Did Oregon because it's set the way it is did Oregon deserve better as the top seed overall than a quarterfinal matchup against either
00:07Ohio State or Tennessee
00:10Yeah, they they did you would think they did but
00:13The seeding is the way it is
00:16partly because you have
00:19The buys only going to conference champions, you know, only conference champions are eligible for the by so the rankings
00:27You know like for instance Boise was the three seed right because they were the third best third highest ranked conference champion
00:34But they were only ranked
00:36I can't remember exactly maybe eight or nine and so there were
00:39Plenty of teams in front of them that got a large burst but can't get that by
00:43That throws off the seating a little bit, right?
00:46I mean, Ohio State in Tennessee were both ranked ahead of Boise and they were seated below boys
00:53Because they didn't run a conference champion
00:55Chip and now I have to play each other in the first round with the winner getting Oregon
00:59So in a bracket if you had the bracket just based off
01:03Ranking Jim, Oregon would play the winner of an 8-9 seed game
01:07Which I think if you just did it off the rankings and didn't do the buys right would be Boise
01:13I think would be in that game
01:14It would be like Boise and in Indiana or something like that
01:17It would be a would make more sense right for a one seed to play
01:21So the seating is kind of off and while I do agree with you, I think the format is pretty cool
01:26It it it puts a lot of a lot of value on conference champions and championships what they wanted
01:33However, this format was created when we have five when we had five power conferences not four
01:40We have four now and not only do we have four Jim, but we have four that are pretty unequal
01:45right, and so this format was created for a
01:485 power of a power 5 not a power 4 so it'll be interesting going forward what tweaks may come of it
