00:00Bersatu President Muhyiddin Yassin has hit back at Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's accusation

00:08that his party selectively interpreted the federal constitution regarding the Dewan Rakyat

00:13Speaker's decision not to vacate six former Bersatu MP seats.

00:18In a statement, Muhyiddin challenged Anwar, asking which part of the federal constitution

00:23he had not read.

00:25Muhyiddin cited Article 49A, known as the Anti-Hopping Law, which mandates that MPs

00:30who cease to be party members lose their seats.

00:34He said Bersatu had amended its constitution to enforce immediate cessation of membership

00:39for non-compliant representatives.

00:43Muhyiddin said that if they had withdrawn support for Anwar and complied with party

00:46directives, they would have remained members and MPs, but they deliberately ignored the

00:51directive.

00:53He said this led to their automatic termination from Bersatu under Article 10.4 of the party

00:58constitution and the consequent vacancy of their parliamentary seats under Article 49A

01:04of the federal constitution.

01:06The former Prime Minister added that Bersatu would challenge the Speaker's decision in

01:10court.
