Three Alor Gajah Municipal Council (MPAG) workers claimed trial at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court, Melaka on Thursday (July 11) to accepting bribes from an advertising contractor as inducements to secure supply works tendered by the local council.

00:13works tendered by the local council. Patrick Tan Peng Sin, Mohamed Rozaiman Rahmat, and
00:20Suhana Surin were charged before Judge Elisabeth Payawan. Tan, a customer service officer,
00:27faces two charges of allegedly receiving cash bribes amounting to 2000 ringgit in January
00:32last year and another 2500 ringgit in February last year. Rozaiman, an administrative officer
00:40at the Alor Gajah Municipal Council Enforcement Unit, faces three charges of accepting cash
00:45bribes totalling 2900 ringgit between March 2022 and April last year. Meanwhile, Suhana,
00:53a clerical assistant at Municipal Council's Corporate and Community Service Department,
01:00is facing four counts of receiving bribes amounting to 1900 ringgit between April 22
01:07and April last year. They had allegedly accepted the bribes from Ong Asyong, the manager of
01:13Prisma Advertising Centre in Malacca. The court set bail at 4000 ringgit for each accused
01:20with additional conditions that they report monthly to the MACC office and surrender their
01:25passports to the court. Their case has been fixed for mention on August 13 and 22.
