00:00Without objection, the gentleman is recognized for one minute.
00:03Thank you, Mr. Speaker. So far, Congress has provided $7.5 billion for electrical vehicle
00:09charging stations via the so-called infrastructure bill. $5 billion of that money is allocated
00:15to individual states to build a network of fast chargers along major highways in the
00:19National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program. This outpouring of funds, the intense focus
00:24of the Department of Transportation and the Biden Administration, has only managed to
00:28finish seven of these stations in four states. Investment seems to be the term coined to
00:35use on this topic to get around the fact that nothing is getting done and an incredible
00:39amount of taxpayer money is being spent. This is a consistent pattern of electrical vehicle
00:44charging stations being exempted also from the Buy America provisions that were expanded
00:49in the Infrastructure Act. We're buying these components from China because most are not
00:54sourced from U.S. manufacturers, because we're in a big hurry, it seems, to not actually
00:59build them. This is a pathetic and embarrassing show of bureaucratic waste and a slap in the
01:03face to American workers. The whole Biden Administration at every level, be it funding
01:08or regulation, have forced electric vehicles and have forced demand that the infrastructure
01:13isn't even close to being in place for. Seven-ten Americans said they don't want to buy an EV
01:18and those others are already trying to give back what they have. I yield back.
