The Madani government has decided to streamline the economic corridor authorities (PBK) to focus solely on realising approved investments, stated Rafizi Ramli.

Wrapping up the debate on the Auditor General's Report (LKAN) for his ministry in the Dewan Rakyat on Wednesday (July 10), the Economy Minister explained that this decision entails re-centralising the PBK's functions related to infrastructure, water, socioeconomy, and poverty to other federal agencies to prevent duplication.

00:00The report of the Head of State Audit, which is related to the agency under my control,
00:07which is in charge of the ECEA Corridor, for a little background,
00:14the audit that is being carried out is for activities in the year 2008-2022
00:26related to the project from the 9th to the 12th of this year.
00:34There are five Corridor authorities in our country,
00:39and the one being audited for this round is the ECEA East Coast Corridor.
00:46For your information,
00:49these Corridor authorities are given a mandate under their own documents,
00:56and most of the documents were rejected in 2007-2008.
01:03Then for the Corridor in Sabah and Sarawak,
01:07it is established under the ordinance of each state government,
01:11and their previous function was to plan and develop
01:17socio-economic activities across various sectors,
01:20not just investment.
01:23Therefore, even before the report of the Head of State Audit came out,
01:30the current administration is aware that there are a few things
01:35that need to be given attention to,
01:37which are the issues of assignment and assignment.
01:44Because some of the work,
01:47even though it is actually under the ministries,
01:50the ministries at the level of the association,
01:52but due to the authority given to the PBK to carry it out,
01:57so there are those carried out under their own ministries,
02:01but there are also those under the PBK.
02:04And this also creates an atmosphere where sometimes the PBK
02:10becomes a place to get other privileges
02:14that do not go through the real ministries.
02:18Therefore, the current administration of Mandani
02:23has already decided that the PBK after this will be suspended
02:29and will only give emphasis to efforts to realize
02:34the investments that have been approved.
02:38This means that the functions that have been done before,
02:42including those involving infrastructure, water,
02:46or socio-economic poverty,
02:49will be re-focused to other association agencies
02:55so that there is no delay.
02:57And the Ministry of Economy is now in the process
03:00of implementing and implementing this function.
03:04The process at the level of administration is underway
03:07and God willing, some of the changes to the document
03:14that is required to implement this function
03:17will be brought to the parliament in the upcoming sessions.
03:21The first question refers to,
03:24this was raised by Kuala Tengganu and Tumpat,
03:27it refers to page 2, paragraph 15 in the report.
03:33The report in paragraph 5.1.5B states,
03:41the audit found that there is no data base
03:45to assess the socio-economic achievements of the SASA group
03:49in the area of ICER.
03:52Therefore, the objective achievements for the projects
03:55and programs implemented cannot be estimated.
03:59Kuala Tengganu raised the issue of how this could happen
04:03while the SASA group has been launched and operated.
04:11I would like to go back to the background that I gave earlier,
04:17that this audit is for 2008-2022,
04:25and the fieldwork was carried out from January 2023 to June 2023.
04:35It was launched in January 2024.
04:39So, the questions from Kuala Tengganu and Tumpat
04:44can be answered by themselves,
04:46if they read the report of the head of state audit
04:51which provides a clear timeline,
04:55that when this report was made,
04:59there was not yet a unified main data base.
