Mourners in India's capital gathered Saturday to pay their respects to former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh ahead of a state funeral.

The former premier who held office from 2004 to 2014, died at the age of 92 on Thursday, after which seven days of state mourning were declared.

00:00Mourners in India's capital gathered on Saturday to pay their respects to former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh,
00:07ahead of a state funeral for the man-key to the country's economic liberalisation.
00:12Dr Manmohan, who held office from 2004 to 2014, died at the age of 92 on Thursday,
00:21after which seven days of state mourning were declared.
00:24His coffin, draped in garlands of flowers in the orange, white and green colours of India's flag,
00:30was flanked by a guard of honour and taken to his Congress Party headquarters in New Delhi.
00:36His body will later be taken through the capital to be cremated with full state honours.
00:41Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who along with other leaders is expected to attend the funeral,
00:47called Dr Manmohan one of India's most distinguished leaders.
00:51Opposition Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said he had lost a mentor and guide,
00:56and that the former premier had led India with immense wisdom and integrity.

01:06for the economic development of the country.
