00:03I can cover my face, but I want to clarify what may be a misunderstanding.
00:10Human Resources Minister Steven Sim has denied allegations of misusing
00:1651.7 million ringgit in Gerak Insan Gemilang training grants,
00:20as highlighted by the National Audit Department's report on Human Resource Development Corporation.
00:26Responding to claims that the money was spent on a single company with 3,726 repeated participants,
00:33Sim said the funds were distributed to 315 training providers, and not a single company.
00:39He said 84% of the 3,726 participants, or approximately 3,132 people,
00:47only repeated their courses two to three times within a year.
00:51The Auditor General's report had flagged the disbursement as suspicious,
00:55with some of the recipients said to have repeated the courses 16 times.
01:00The report also pointed out that 234 of the supposed participants were suspicious,
01:06having logged identical names and identification numbers.
01:10Sim vowed that appropriate action would be taken against anyone found guilty of wrongdoing,
01:15regardless of their position, but urged the public not to overreact.
