00:00Mr. Speaker, I rise today to address the negative national security consequences of three and
00:06a half years of President Biden's open border policies.
00:11While we hear President Biden and his allies boast about a so-called drop in illegal immigrant
00:18encounters in recent weeks, the number of national security threats resulting from this
00:24administration's policies continue to mount.
00:28According to the Department of Homeland Security's own threat assessment for this year, illegal
00:33drugs produced in Mexico and sold in the United States will take more Americans' lives than
00:40any other threat we face.
00:42Further underscoring the threat our country faces due to the President's open border policies,
00:48we learned two weeks ago that the Department of Homeland Security has identified more than
00:53400 illegal immigrants that have entered the U.S. over the last three years as subjects
01:00of concern.
01:01They're subjects of concern because they were brought here by an ISIS-affiliated human smuggling
01:08network according to sources who spoke with NBC News.
01:13These unnamed officials report that 150 of these individuals have been arrested, but
01:19the whereabouts of many more are unknown.
01:23We also don't know whether the money earned in this human smuggling operation is funding
01:29ISIS activity.
01:31A couple of weeks prior to this story, NBC also reported that U.S. Immigration and Customs
01:37Enforcement arrested eight men from Tajikistan, also for suspected affiliation with ISIS,
01:45in three major U.S. cities.
01:47This turned out to be an entirely separate ISIS-affiliated human smuggling network.
01:55Mr. Speaker, these are just a couple of examples from recent weeks.
02:00We face many, many more national security threats that are a direct result of open borders
02:06and a refusal to uphold existing immigration laws in this country.
02:12More than 350 illegal immigrants who are on the terror watch list have attempted to
02:17cross into the United States since President Biden took office.
02:22More than 1.8 million people have successfully—1.8 million—have successfully evaded border patrol,
02:31and hundreds of thousands of unknown individuals have been admitted into the U.S. on parole,
02:37with no way of tracking many of these individuals.
02:40This widespread abuse of parole authority was a key factor in my vote to impeach DHS
02:47Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
02:49It has truly paved the way for countless instances of crime across this country.
02:56The President's recent executive order is far too little, far too late.
03:02It doesn't go far enough to treat these threats to our safety and security with the
03:07seriousness that they merit.
03:10The action, however, does prove what I've been saying and arguing for months—that
03:16the President has, and has had, the authority to end this crisis at our border.
03:22It also highlights the fact that our Commander-in-Chief waited three and a half years before taking
03:28any action to curb the unprecedented flow of illegal immigrants into this country.
03:35This isn't hyperbole.
03:37These are facts.
03:39As sobering as they may be, I fear they will persist as long as President Biden, or whoever
03:46is making decisions at the White House, is in the White House.
03:50With that, Mr. Speaker, I yield back.
